Hilary Duff's Reach Out

I can't seem to find an official Hilary Duff thread, but if there is one I'm sorry ^_^'

If you haven't heard the song or watched the video yet, here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JStfziF4duQ

At the moment, I'm having a love/hate relationship with the song. I usually don't like when songs that weren't originally about sex are turned into songs about sex. But at the same time, the song is very addictive.

Nonetheless, I like the video well enough. Some of the parts seem a bit lame or cheap, but all together I quite like it.

Opinions?

Reach Out kinda sucks! HOLIDAY IS THE BEST THING EVER THOUGH OMG! IT'S ONE OF HER BEST SONGS!!!

that was pretty awkward for me to watch.. LOL. i know she's an adult but it's still like i'm watching lizzie mcguire try to be sexy. :no

the song isn't terrible but i don't like it either.

I LOVE that song. I'm addicted to it. I actually like that Hil's growing up. Shes not letting people's idea thats shes forever "young and innocent" stop her. Plus, shes getting older, and no doubt that shes probably become... active.

Ayunk 9th November 2008 04:07 AM

It was pretty okay, but i'm not used to her acting sexy. She has nice make-up in that video though. :P

Richieooxx 9th November 2008 04:22 AM

Omg i loveeeee it :)

bondingo 9th November 2008 04:48 AM

I've always been a huge Hil Duff fan, but I'm not really feeling Reach Out. The video was great and I love the verses, but I've never liked Personal Jesus so the chorus really brings it down.

I wish she wouldn't release so many compilation CDs :(
Why not just do a new album? LAZY! ;) lol

it's a really bad song. and the video is very horrible. she looks like a tranny :O

jbrat2219 9th November 2008 05:30 AM

Doesn't it kind of have that sound that was in the SOS chorus in this chorus as well? If you listen well, you can hear it...

Two songs have used the same sample from Personal Jesus; this and Jamelia's Beware of the Dog, so they both sound pretty similar now. D: Not very original.

I hate this video and song!:eviltongu

RubySakura13 9th November 2008 08:27 PM

I was kind of surprised when I first saw that, I've been a Hilary Duff fan for a few years now and it feels awkward to see her doing a music video like this.

The song is okay but I like Holiday more!

Kaiouforever 10th November 2008 07:04 AM

I love this song so much! I play it in the morning to wake up

Re:★ 19th November 2008 11:41 PM

LOL, The Best of Hilary Duff debuted at #125. Her first album to miss the top 5 I believe, let alone the top 100. It sold 5k. :laugh

However, in Hilary's defence this was only released so her contract with Hollywood aka Disney would end. She's now signed to Universal I believe. And the album wasn't available on iTunes.

Good news though! New album recording starts in less than two weeks! And Hil's gonna return to TV on an NBC show, too.

Holiday :heart

drewbilation 20th November 2008 02:05 AM

wait, the album was released already? I didn't even know!

bondingo 20th November 2008 02:18 AM

Yeah, it came out last week. I'm glad it didn't sell well, because I just can't wait for her to move on to a label that actually cares about her. It's retarded that neither of the new songs are available to purchase online because who honestly wants to buy a comp from Hilary when she released one before her last album?

Catzi 20th November 2008 04:26 AM

She didn't really promote this "Best" album at all, so I wouldn't expect it to release high. In fact, I didn't even hear about it being released until I saw the video go through the "What's being watched now" thing on Youtube.

Reach Out isn't a very good song, but the video is amazing! Holiday is waaaaaaay better!

Izzette 20th November 2008 07:02 AM

Well Ive been iffy on Hilary since her horrible Dignity era. The only 2 good songs from that era was With Love and Gypsy Woman and sort of Play With Fire, the rest of the CD could have stayed in the trashcan.

As for the best of it had a bunch of my favs from her past, so I bought it. At first I hated Reach Out's video, but somehow it grabbed me and I ended up liking it. And the song itself is very addictive. If it were promoted at radio it probably would have been big.

Anyway.. I've supported Hilary from the start, so I'm not turning back now. I can't wait to see her future projects, I hope she'll do things that she likes. If no longer being a disney star is her thing, then so be it.

I realize she is trying to prove something to people, that she can be just as britney spears as the next one. But I personally didn't think she needed to go to this extreme. Anyway. I wish her well! :)

VIDEO'S HOT.

That aside... it's garbage. I was the biggest Hilary Duff Fan-Boy you could imagine. My walls were entirely covered with pictures of her, I had magazines she graced the cover of framed and also kept spare copies of the same magazines to look at. I had memorbilia from movie theaters and promotional materials from stores. I won tickets to her original MOST WANTED TOUR the Summer of 8th grade (I had also purchased tickets) and it was amazing.

My love for her fizzled out after she went the way of the "horse" if you get what I am saying. She got her teeth done and way to skinny and I just felt really bad for her. I still bought her albums though. 4 copies of Dignity! Lol.

Now that she is finally out of Hollywood Records, I can't wait to see where she takes her career next.

yatenkouxoxo 22nd November 2008 01:24 AM

I think you guys are reading a bit too much into this.

It's like this. The video was NOT overly sexy. She worked up to where she is. With her second, self-titled album, it was a bit edgier than the first, then Dignity, which was a bit more dance pop, however she wrote or co-wrote all of the songs, and I found the lyrics to be much more honest than previous efforts, despite the dancey music. Then, she did War, Inc., which if you haven't seen, you should...it'll shock you how good she is in the movie. Also, she has Gretta and Safetey Glass coming up...both dramas. It's like, you guys expect her to be where she was when she WAS doing Lizzie McGuire, yet some of you fail to realize, that, she's in her 20's now, and STILL manages to avoid the whole "Britney" scandal type of issues.

As for the Reach Out video...it's sexy, but not too over the top.

CoriKaru 22nd November 2008 07:24 AM

This video is boring and Hilary Duff is just awkward and unconvincing in these more provocative roles. And I definitely comprehend the "Horse" comment. I hate what she's done to her face via her teeth. She looked better before. She looks like Alyssa Milano now, which isn't all that bad, but yeah.
