http://islandrecords.com/site/promo/...tada/index.htm

well, what do you think? :D personally, I LOVE IT :smitten

thanks to Akutenshi for originally posting this link in the utada hikaru thread! :cool

Akutenshi 7th January 2009 03:55 AM

This will get it the exposure it deserves. And as I've stated probably hundreds of times, SONG OF THE YEAR. :heart

jbrat2219 7th January 2009 03:57 AM

It's alright.... Sounds too much like what you hear on the radio though...

pommy48 7th January 2009 03:57 AM

bah~ how can you not love it <3 :luv2
though still not one of hikki's best~

love in music 7th January 2009 03:59 AM

lame. boring.

ohsixthirty 7th January 2009 04:28 AM

i was really hoping for an upbeat song...

i guess this is ok, and i'm sure it will grow on me some, but its pretty repetetive honestly.

Yoo Bin 7th January 2009 05:27 AM

Yes I luv it! I just found it and I'm on my second listen. I can't listen to it too much. I wanna get a chance to hear it on the radio so I can feel the epicness of the song. lol

*sigh* The day I don't read comments like the one i just quoted....

Larisa-chan 7th January 2009 05:32 AM

Sounds like every other song on the hip-hop/r&b radio stations in the US :)

Lyrics included. "Come back to me baby, I admitted I cheated now I regret it!"

I've already heard this song a thousand times already in the US ;)

Kikaru 7th January 2009 06:23 AM

^IA

That said, I like it, even though it sound like something that Chris Brown or Beyonce would sing. However, since I like both of the artist, I don't really mind.

But I wonder since the song's less experimental than the stuff on Exodus, it might mean greater commercial success because American mainstream might like it better.

The day people stop making music like this is the day you won't read those comments :P

I hope the other tracks are better -_-;

NintendoHTF1242 7th January 2009 06:43 AM

I really do love this song. It's catchy and sung really well <3

AyUta 7th January 2009 06:44 AM

I love it! :heart Everything about it! :luv2 What a great way to start off the new year~! I agree it sounds a lot like other songs on the radio, but I have a feeling this song will get Hikki noticed. It's more mainstream. I am sooo going to request this song on all the radio stations possible :yes

stickyrice 7th January 2009 06:46 AM

I LOVE IT! I'm like...a sucker for this kind of stuff lol

I wanna let my friend listen to it but considering she's an emotional wreck right now - I think I'll hold it off XD

Whoa, that's quite a statement to be making a week into the new year! :laugh

It's a very standard sounding R&B ballad. It's nice, but there's nothing special about it. Although I am glad it's not all electronic sounding like practically every song on Exodus. The last track on that album, which featured a real acoustic guitar, was like a sudden breath of fresh air.

BUT I HATE how Hikki changes what she's all about in her US songs. It's like....so fake. Her Japanese songs have all these domestic, honest feelings about "turn off the TV and look only at me" (hikari) or "when I see my weak face in the mirror, I want to smash it" (keep tryin'). Then her US songs are full of all this superficial, overdone crap like "boy, you're so hot, let's turn this room into a melting pot" or the "I cheated" BS in this song. I know those subjects are popular in US music, but come on. It's not her at all.

emi♡ 7th January 2009 06:52 AM

hikki sure is damn smart :laugh

I don't really like it, because it's not really the style that I like...

and um, some of the lyrics are really cheesy...the one in a million isn't cool...

but I hope people here will like it, since it's a pretty standard ballad.

I wish it was a little more catchy though, don't we americans love catchy music ;)

I guess it's okay. It disappoints me a little, because I didn't want her to do this, but, i can't really blame her.

If you liked Green but not this song then I-I have to question your quote. :P

emi♡ 7th January 2009 06:59 AM

^a lot of people on this forum would LOVE GREEN and HATE this...

so...

that statement makes me laugh :)

the forum is crazy :laugh

Yoo Bin 7th January 2009 07:03 AM

^LOL. You may be right but then I have to question their R&B taste. :)

Cyria 7th January 2009 07:05 AM

It doesn't really leave any kind of impression on me. So I voted for "don't like it," since voice/melody/lyrics all lack that something that would catch my interest.

I really just don't understand how the two songs are comparable?

lol It has more to do with what he said in his quote than the two song comparing.

Keiichi_JPU 7th January 2009 07:41 AM

I LOVE IT

:luv2

I think it's way better than the regular R&B ballad, and it indeed sounds very beyonce/chris brown-ish. But I love it!

ayumisrael 7th January 2009 07:44 AM

I think it's just okay, not amazing.

I don't quite follow you, but let's agree to disagree, okay?

KarenPang 7th January 2009 07:47 AM

I like it , it's really nice

for a moment I thought Utada was covering Vanessa Hudgens's Come Back To Me but thankfully it's an original song :laugh

hopefully a PV will be shot for the song

Meat Pao 7th January 2009 09:36 AM

I love the song! But I think I'm going to get tired of it after a few more listens :laugh but well I love it for now.

njanjayrp 7th January 2009 09:50 AM

hate it - lame and poorly produced.

Brodie Boy 7th January 2009 10:08 AM

Its okay, but not as good as Utada can do and what she has done in her Japanese songs!. But, well I kinda love it because Utada sings it and I just think her voice is really amazing.

Melrose 7th January 2009 10:56 AM

The song is OK.

The lyrics are cheesy, and the music is too generic.

But I did like it more before reading all the negative comments on here lol.

Minttulatte 7th January 2009 11:02 AM

I think it's okay, not as amazing as Stay Gold was, just a same kind of a R&B song like everything else nowadays. :D Seriously, I hear songs like Come Back To Me too much in Finland too.

Yet I'm sure that she won't release the single in Finnish radios and I still liked the song so I'd like to hear it when it comes. Song sounds a lot more promising than Exodus imo.

Maemi 7th January 2009 11:46 AM

It's good. Not smth "OMG amazing!!!" but still very enjoyable ^___^

Calico 7th January 2009 11:48 AM

Meh. Hope the rest of the album doesn't sound like this. If it gives her exposure though, I guess it's okay.

I do like the guitar at the end.

kang daesung 7th January 2009 07:11 PM

Love it!

pokerfacex 7th January 2009 07:14 PM

It's alright, I guess.

Kazeyomi 7th January 2009 07:18 PM

So awful and generic :/ I'm so disappointed

I agree :yes I can't stand UTADA's lyrics >_>'

Ayumi27 7th January 2009 09:10 PM

I really like the song so much... I hope it gets some airplay or exposure in the US, sound like something that could succeed there

amorphose 8th January 2009 03:13 AM

I effin' love it! :D
I'm so proud of her!

Yum!Fruit_Salad! 8th January 2009 03:22 AM

I definitely see the Mariah comparsion. Very standard R&B ballad with some cheesy lyrics. Crossing my fingers for the rest of the album to be better.

CoriKaru 8th January 2009 10:06 AM

It's a little less than okay just b/c it's Utada and she's better than this. It's tolerable.

TITANIC 8th January 2009 04:28 PM

boring..

ayumixfan 10th January 2009 11:16 AM

Its okay/good ~ Its missing something though. Its definitely mainstream but its missing a hook ! :S ~!

ImpactBreaker 31st January 2009 03:53 AM

I voted "loved it" though I don't love it, just like it. It's a nice sdong. Generic and cliche, yeah, but it sounds nice.

xLitax 31st January 2009 07:20 AM

It's all right, imo.

I agree 100%. I love it, despite the fact that it sounds like everything we hear on the radios nowadays...HOWEVER that might be just what Hikki needs to get noticed in America ;).

bondingo 1st February 2009 05:55 AM

Lame. Way to not be original for once Hikki.

kirei_ayumi 1st February 2009 10:06 PM

I freakin' love it <3

Zeke. 2nd February 2009 08:52 PM

Lol, I think it's terrible. :(
Can't even force myself to think it's even decent.
It's too hottzy. Lol.

Aisha_Angel 2nd February 2009 09:41 PM

I voted that it was okay...but I really wanted to say that it was forgettable.

"i think it's just okay/good, not amazing."

I hope there will be better songs in the album.

Purple Neko 3rd February 2009 04:40 AM

I love CBTM its so catchy ^^!

nikku76 4th February 2009 08:50 AM

One big resounding meh.

Seriously, I am an open-minded person. It is not that hard for my favorite artist to please me. But her voice is the only distinctive thing in this song and even then only at certain parts. The piano part at the beginning is quite nice but I am sure I have heard that beat more times than I can count. That and I know she can write better lyrics in English (Simple & Clean?) so I don't see why this comes off as so completely unlyrical. It's more like a poorly worded monologue.

rookies 4th February 2009 11:14 AM

Loved the song. The lyrics are pretty good too. <3

yoshino 4th February 2009 01:08 PM

i think it's just okay

tinka69 7th February 2009 12:06 AM

I really liked it at first but I got bored of it quickly.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 8th February 2009 09:14 AM

RikkuChii 10th February 2009 12:59 AM

Amen

Utada can make beautiful songs with actual meaning in japanese. But this did not happen this time :no There's nothing special about this song. (in other words, booooooooring :P lol)

C+R+E+AYUMI 4th June 2009 06:02 PM

nothing special..like Cyria said, no impressions of it

nemesisyume 6th June 2009 10:43 PM

I like it
the only song on TITO I like

Pieces_of_SEVEN 1st June 2010 03:49 AM

love it

JackieRos 8th July 2010 01:06 AM

only decent song in TITO

primavera♥ 8th July 2010 02:16 AM

its okay. its a good song. not amazing. many artists are capable of making a good r&b song.

i used to love it of course in my "hikki is perfection" days. .. but now its worn off.

a more r&b person would love it though im sure. . .but thats not me completely

Miduhyo 8th July 2010 07:42 AM

Yes, I love it!!!

gallowsCalibrator 8th July 2010 07:49 AM

I don't normally like these mainstream pop songs, but I think Hikki did well :)

Mary Weather 11th July 2010 06:00 PM

I liked this song. I think it's great. It got me the first time I heard it. And how does it compare to GREEN ><

Kanzaki 11th July 2010 06:08 PM

i think it's just okay/good, not amazing.

But that's just because I know that she is so much better.

MiiSan 11th July 2010 08:06 PM

It's okay, just pretty generic..

Ahi_max91 14th July 2010 12:11 AM

i love it~

toniayu 14th July 2010 10:59 AM

is ok,not amazing

sanzo2011 14th July 2010 11:38 AM

an okay song and i like it !

Far Away 17th July 2010 01:36 AM

I LOVE this song! I think I could blast it forever and not get tired of it. It's actually one of my favorites from her overall career. :yes

old_drawings 22nd July 2010 05:09 PM

Did not like it at first.

Mintkisses 24th July 2010 03:19 AM

It's nothing special, but I don't hate it.

Mirrorcle Monster 16th October 2010 02:01 PM

Love it!

asmAyumi1992 21st October 2010 01:51 PM

It's just okay.

But this song is the only (I think so) from Japanese could make up our in local radio station.

Chibi-Chan 16th November 2010 09:40 PM

nope, i don't like it. I always thought it were really bad lyrics. I don't like songs with lyrics like that, and it don't matter if the song is from a boy or a girl.

Sandy 10th May 2018 08:59 PM

Old post, but oh well... :D

Hikki writes amazing lyrics but something changes when it's not in Japanese since it's not her first language, I guess. But her songs on her US album were pretty much all dreadful lyrically, in my opinion, that is. Come back to me lacks a wow-factor of any kind but I remember seeing the video for the first time almost ten years ago on remember being baffled by her gorgeousness <3
