Coming Back to the 23rd Thread♥
http://i43.tinypic.com/28a3y1.png |
Way to jazz it up! Didn't even release there needed to be a new thread.
|
wait, by 2nd studio album, that means for her english album right?
|
wow thats awesome.
hmm...i think... |
Quote:
|
^i know, how are they promoting this?
like...are they gonna say it's her debut album, or her 2nd album, or just a new album? well it is a new label right? Does that mean they count Exodus or no? |
Funny how on YouTube they just took the audio away from all of the "Come Back To Me" clips but left the video. Never seen that before. They usually take the whole thing down.
|
I thought she was still on the Def Island Records.
I've been thinking about it today and wonder how the new album will be promoted. They can't simply ignore Exodus. They probably have to say it's her second but then they might bring up how well Exodus did. |
Quote:
Island might say it's her 2nd studio album, but just not mention Exodus. |
picking up the conversation from the last thread ..
am i the only one that thinks this sounds much more like a Rihanna ballad than Mariah? i don't think this sounds anything like Mariah .. |
Is that the album cover? @_@ Oh no she still has that haircut x_x
|
no i don't think it is
i'm prett sure that's fanmade ... i THINK. it looks like a heart station pic and she goes by utada in the states, not utada hikaru |
Quote:
|
I don't think that's the cover...?
|
^ Fanmade.
|
As if it wasn't already obvious. D:
|
Yeah I think I recognize it from her HEART STATION promotion.... It wouldn't be a bad cover in Japan hahaha
|
If it was official the text would be level, and it's not.
So, will we be able to have the album here for download before it comes out in America? |
Technically, you could upload it here and delete the link/s on the day of it's release. However I'm pretty sure the mods wouldn't want that to be done so, no, probably not.
|
I don't think so since we can buy it locally...
Pretty sure other places will have it for download |
iTunes.
I'd like to stress that there is almost no excuse not to get this release legally this time around. Get it, got it, good. =x |
I need to spend my money on like, Kelly, so I'll download it first, and then buy it later
|
i don't use iTunes. but my brother uses it, and my mom won't let me buy from there. :P
i'm already getting BoA's english album for free, but i dunno if i can get utada's. if it's at BEST BUY or something, then i have a chance of getting it :D |
Quote:
In EXODUS's case , she released it under her surname Utada |
I'm pretty sure they won't say "DEBUT ALBUM" when they promote it. They'll just say "UTADA - TITLE OF ALBUM" in stores now. No need to acknowledge her first album...
Hopefully this song gets a music video premiere on MTV. It definitely needs it. Wasn't FNMTV supposed to be like "music video debut central"? That thing ended pretty fast. It would've been great promotion for both Utada and BoA. |
They need to get CBTM on Itunes D:
|
Through traffic jams in Tokyo, New music on the radio~
I'm listening to Exodus '04. I forgot how laid-back and well done it is <3 |
Quote:
speaking of songwriters , who else is cowriting with her on her upcoming new album ? |
StarGate is all I'm remembering. :doh
|
I'd rather she names this song "Come Back 2 Me". Looks more American Slang style.
|
i like the new song. it gets kind of repetitive but it's very sweet. her vocals sound really good in it
|
I wonder how long we'll have to wait for Utada to start back up on her Japanese Career. I wonder if this English venture will affect her Japanese music as Exodus affected it. And I wonder if it will spark her interest even more in music as it was before.
Somehow after Utada's English Album is released, no matter how this turns out, I just see Utada taking another LONG break and then popping up with a Japanese Single in the FAR future. Of course she'll release some more English Singles off of the Album after it's out, but we'll already have all of the music so that won't be anything for us. |
oh how did Exodus affect her japanese career?
|
Exodus resparked her interest in music at a time when she was becoming bored with music and afraid she had run out of ideas and songs to make. It influenced her to make music she otherwise would not have been able to make (ULTRA BLUE benefitted a lot from this).
She was talking about retirement and all of that. I'm wondering if after this will she start to leave her ethereal atmospheric music behind in Japan for something else. Maybe go back to what she used to do or something she hasn't done. Although she's done a lot. |
^ She hasn't done ska, jazz, trip-pop, country, or reggae.
I'd love it if she went back to Deep River Era. The songs had right amount of R&B and her "experimental", "artsy" music. HEART STATION did touch on mixing the two genres a bit but it still leaned heavily toward the artsy/experimental music. I wonder what she will come up with next? |
I'm guessing more instrumental sounds - orchestra, perhaps? There was a bit of piano in the beginning of Come Back To Me. There's also rock, but a part of me feels like her vocals aren't strong enough to handle rock (although she could compose/produce around that).
|
Quote:
maybe there're more songwriters that she collaborated with ? |
Anyone knows if her album will be out outside the US? Cause I really want to buy it physically here in Europe... When I bought Exodus I was lucky because I was on the states at the time but now I will have to buy it online if they donīt sell it in here :( (and itīs not the same to buy things online from the US that from Japan for me, cause YesAsia doesnīt makes me pay for the shipping costs)

I happened to run into Exodus in FAME in Amsterdam, but I was very lucky, there was only 1 copy and I immediately bought it! It actually started my true fan-being, was my first Hikki CD. Maybe stores will have it a bit later on here? When she has released a few singles which are at least a little bit successful xD |
Oh my.. I thought that was the cover for her upcoming eng album! It looks plain n reminds me of Heart Station.. ok it's good that it's not.
I hope her eng songs will be nice. I've onli heard a few.. haven't yet listen to this new song hahaz. |
lol i live in America yeah, but i can still find Exodus in nearly any CD store i go to ..
|
^really? you're lucky, I never see it.
the only things i see are ayu singles lol |
i never find ayu singles lol
I've found many utada albums and ai otsuka albums though ... XD they are the only actual j pop Cd's I've ever seen in American stores though. |
the stores near me have nothing asian, except for chinese restaurants, lol.
|
^ I know right owo;;
they do sell some anime soundtracks at Sam Goodies; but that is no where near the same as J-Pop albums. |
A store in Nashville sells some JPop CDs. Can't remember the name but it's like the only one that does.
|

|
^ I know it's not Opry Mills, it's either Cool Springs Galleria or Rivergate Mall. It's a basic DVD/CD/Game store with anime and manga and some Jpop CDS in the back. Hopefully the store is still there.

that's why people in future if you were to come to S'pore , give me a ring , I bring you to downtown's HMV where you can shop silly there |
Come Back To Me is un-interesting; very boring and safe. It sounds more like an album filler than a lead single. I was hopeing she'd get all experimental again like Exodus, except the album sounding less like it was made on the Mac.

I see Exodus a lot at Sam Goody, Wal Mart, and Barnes & Nobles. My local Wal Mart also had ULTRA BLUE.

I bought Exodus from Best Buy shortly after it had been released.... but they had her in the, get this, REGGAE section... O_o
|
Quote:
which part/s of EXODUS is Reggae influenced ? |
^ Um.... NONE. :laugh
|
^ ditto :laugh
is your copy of EXODUS made in US ? my copy's made in S'pore |
I saw someone selling Exodus' japan version on eBay and realised it has a slipcase :o I didn't know that.

^ I wouldn't think so lol. They're always sooo good and flawless :heart
|
OH okay, I've never seen them! But I surely hope she doesn't suffer through them hahaha
|
^ You should definitely watch Utada United 2006 tour, it's amazing :heart I hope everything goes well for her if she has a tour here in the US. :cry Hopefully she does, I'd kill to go see her.
|
I would see her in the U.S.! It's not often Jpop artists come to the U.S. and it's ever more rare that they tour! I doubt she'll come to my city so New York is the farthest I'll travel...
|
She's basically saying that she's at a point where she's been working strenuously nonstop for a while and she's almost at the point where she can take a break, like the break before an encore. It's a metaphor. She's just tired and ready for a break in the working process before she finishes the rest of the Album up.
|
Ehh.. Doesn't she actually say that there are two songs that she has and that there is only ONE of them she may place on the album?
Or that there is only one she'll be able to finish in time? At least to me it sounds like that.. |
I think she ment its painful because it is about to end and she wants it to go on forever because she likes performing/recording so much!.
|
Oww, yes that definitely sounds better than my opinion! XD
I'm not really into Hikki as a person, I listen more to her music, so when I read something she said, I'm mostly taking it liturally.. *sighs* If it's really like this, she's excited about writing music like this, hey, maybe that's not bad news at all :D If she, herself is feeling good and enthousiastic about the work she's done until now, that might be a very good sign. I hope there will be at least something Animato-ish on her new album, though I'm still afraid most of the tracks won't have an Exodus-mark on them.. I don't mean I want a second Exodus, but I think it isn't an album you can listen to once and then, hup take up something else and forget about it, like with most of mainstream music albums. Take for example Madonna. Her singles are very okay most of times, but her albums aren't really .. The tracks aren't just very memorable.. I just think Exodus is an interesting album because you don't get the music at first time listening. That must also be why Americans didn't approve. Easy-listening dance music should be a good chance for a hit, Come Back To Me might actually be her chance to get more attention than previous time. But only if, as stated before, proper promotion is done, if they get her ito the right style (PLEASE don't get her Rihanna-ish, dancing with nothing but a bikini and pumps on..) Something like.. A cute girl, who can be silly and random with her music but who also has her adult side. Some kind of funny/serious mix, that might work out I think. |
When I bought Exodus at Charlotteīs, NC, Best Buy it was on the World Music Section XD They probably saw she was asian and put her on there. But when paying the shopkeeper looked weird at me like "what a freak xD" and I answered her with a happy grin :D xD Exodus was my first J-Pop album ever (well I consider Exodus J-Pop) and I was very happy xD

I hope the English album will do well when it is released in the US. ^^

I just hope that I can find it once it's released. I won't hesitate to order after one bad day. I've yet to see "Exodus" in any store. And I'm not going on an Easter Egg Hunt either. Jumping around in the Gospel Section and playing Peek-A-Boo in the Indie Section. Nu uh. Be in the appropriate section or the keyboard lock is coming off.

|
Woah, that is weird oO?
|
I saw it in the reggae section too. :P It wasn't an accident!
|
Somebody needs to learn their genres again.
|
I always saw it in th dance section.
|
I'm guessing it's probably just easier to buy it online and have it shipped or something.
|
I have Exodus. Bought it at Borders...it was in Dance.
|
^ Every time I went to a Borders to see if it was there on the shelves, it's never there. It's always up for order online, and then they ship it to you. Hate that.

Wow, the first time I read the Musica Magazine. It's nice. I enjoy that all she talks about is her American Career! I've always wanted to know more.
I do hope that they promote the song really well. I doubt it though...they like to pour more money into people like Mariah Carey (her label IDJ). |
when i bought Exodus it was in Pop/Rock
|
Exodus can be found in
-Pop/Rock -Reggae -Dance -Country What's next? |
^ Gangster rap! xD;
|
LoL, I saw Exodus in the front of the store. She had her poster stand that had CDs on it. In other stores they put her in the Rock/Pop section and her singles in the dance/singles section. Of course, the Japanese version of Exodus is super easy to find. It's right there on the shelf in her own section.

& congrats to HEART STATION for finally crossing the magical million mark in sales :D |
I bought the Japanese version of exodus online, because I wanted to see her translations into Japanese of the lyrics, and the cool slip case. I don't think I've seen it any stores, but then again I never really looked. For this new album though, I think I will look in the stores to buy it.
|
It's about 10 months since the release of HEART STATION and it's still selling 1000+ copies a week :thud
|
Yes! Finally passing 1 million mark! Good job hikki~~~~~
Wow I haven't been here for just 6 days or so, and the first english song was out already.. :P. |
HS is so consistent! It's going to keep sellin for a while, IMO.
|
^ I agree. Pretty much all of Hikki's albums have had amazing chart runs :yes I can't see HS being an exception~
