Ayaka- just married, diseased and might be retiring!?
....that's right. Not only has Ayaka gotten married with Hiro Mizushima, she's supossedly....
quitting music cause she has Graves' disease.... on the bright side she's coming out with a new single but I'm assuming this will be the final album. :( Sources (official): http://news.google.co.jp/news?hl=ja&...num=1&ct=title EDIT: after re-reading and double checking, it appears right now that she is GOING TO TAKE A BREAK. It's not for sure that she's retiring, that was a rumor I heard, I hope its not true though! I'd much rather have a long break than her never coming back! But basically she's quitting for a while. If there's a mod reading this, could you please change the title of this thread to "might be retiring"? I think I was too caught up in the moment... from grief. :(

All thyroid's diseases can cure without problem!
So, it's sad that she take a break. However I can understand her. I was tired for a long time so I think she need a rest too. |
That's actually quite interesting in terms of coincidence, since I'm on an endocrinology service this month and there's a lot of Grave's disease patients I have to see there. The disease has treatment, so that doesn't mean she has to retire because of it. Maybe take a few months off to get her T hormones under control. Not sure if her looks have changed though, since Graves can often complicate with a ophtalmopathy or a large goiter can be visible over the neck. Surgery or radioactive iodine can solve the goiter problem though, but, then I guess she discovered it quite early. Anyone has any recent pictures of her?
All I acn wish is for her to get well and back to business! |
you could look at her new cover single!

It would be really sad if she retired, she's such a fantastic singer.

everyone was discussing about this & still's in the ayaka thread
I really hope it's not true at all , it will be a big shame for her to 'retire' so early :( |

It's hyperthyroid look at wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graves%27_disease Why I find more alarming it's more and more young people have thyroid disease. Normally, it's people who is 40, 50 or more who are affected by them! The air is really bad nowadays. |

I saw an interview with her and her husband; she was crying while she spoke of it, it was so terrible :(
|
I can understand why she cried!
What I didn't say before is if she underwent a surgery (apparently it's not the case) she could lost her beautiful voice! Because surgeon must push on the side, vocal chords. However, the chance is really weak! So, I think it's ok! |
That would be... T o T

However, she doesn't even have a large goiter to need a surgery so far (unless they heavily photoshopped her latest pictures) and there's some options before resorting to surgery, like drugs and radioactive iodine to treat this disease, so it doesn't mean she necessarily has to go through a surgery to get this problem under control. If she needs a surgery, I think she'll surely pick a very experienced surgeon to do the procedure. |
