And well... 400k is honestly kinda far away if you ask me, but it never hurts to be hopeful!

I hope that sales are going to go strong for a while yet. 330k+ is still a pretty good number for her. Although I was hoping it would sell 800k :P

It also seems that NEXT LEVEL's rating on oricon went up from 65-70% to 85% =D
Maybe it grew on some people? hehe.

As for the total sales I think it will end up somewhere near 380k in the end. It is probably going to sell around 6k this week :(

At least there's some positive jump in rankings. Hope it can stay in top 20 next week too.

I'm almost sure it will do at least 7,500-8,000. =D

Japanese people are not rich and there are a lot of artist, its hard to sale today, I think she's doing a great job !

Many people got mad because of the amount of interludes, but they realized how great the album is!

WHAT?! :irked

^Hmm, their mean income per capita is one of the highest in the world but so is their cost of living. The price of the albums is one of the proof of that, it's almost three times the price of what an album would cost in my country (singapore)!

Actually i'm one of those people and i'm still sort of mad. 4 interludes!? At least one of the 4 interludes on Guilty was a pseudo-song.

Bridge to the sky is also like Mirror, Not yet, Catcher In The Light, everlasting dream with lyrics xD.
Just that in others besides mirror they have just choruses or verses (since she didn't plan to make them full songs).
3 of the interludes on NEXT LEVEL are purely with no lyrics though. =D

I feel like the same thing that happened to Ayu with Bold&Delicious/Pride is happening to her with Next Level. The genres she's using are just way too different for some people to appreciate.

I was hoping that NL would have more stay in the top 10, but I'll be happy if it hangs around in the top 20 for a few more weeks. I think the album will overall be looked at as one of her better in terms of experimentation, it will take a while to show this in sales though.

She shouldn't have experimented with the whole album though. I know some songs were 'ballads': Next Level and Curtain Call, but the other album tracks were... really bad.

I like the fact that she is trying new things... She needs to do that from times to times, so she doesn't give us M version 3, fairyland version 4 and who version 6...

Yeah this definitely seems to have the same affect on the public as Bold & Delicious did. But maybe most of the songs appeal to them live like B&D did as well.

I love it, too! But from my observation, Japan seems to love artists who stick to the same type of music over and over again. Look how long it took them to get use to Namie's new genre.

yes I have a feeling that the public got scared by Bold & Delicious initally which's a pity as that's 1 of my fave songs on (miss)understood

I guess they stick to the whole 'why fix it when it ain't broken' analogy but for me I don't see any reason/s as to why ayumi shouldn't try out different music styles , regardless on how bad/good the final product's

actually I kinda am surprised in a way that NEXT LEVEL's sales are even less than GUILTY considering that it was released in 4 different editions against the standard CD & CD + DVD

this shows that physical CD sales are getting worst as time goes by in Japan

My thoughts on GUILTY haven't changed since I first heard the album, but for NL, I find I'm liking it more as time passes. I think I've listened to NL more than when I first got GUILTY

mmm it doesn't have to be like that... I can0t imagine female albums selling only 400-500K from now on... I think sales will encrease when the economical situation will be better... crisis+experimenting new style in japan= 90% not selling well... I hope future sales will be better...

And about trying new styles... I wonder how it'll be her next single... if she will keep the NL style or not...

I didn't get mad, but I didn't like it either... the only bad thing about the album is this... 4 interludes... the songs are AMAZING!

Why i thought NL would sell better than Guilty was because single sales are usually indicative of how the album might sell, she had a fantastic countdown which i thought might revive interest in ayu and there was a slightly longer interval than usual between albums. Unfortunately...

So i'll just hope that her next single can sell well and sales don't get any lower. It's scary to think maybe 2 albums down the road, ayu might not even be able to sell 250k. And 1 million used to be the benchmark for her albums...

I am so happy that she is reaching 12th position!Maybe we have to have patience to get this album grow on people...I am sure that the tour will help to get the songs more popular to the people.

I hope it never gets to that point. I think there are too many factors with her last two albums that made the sales turn out the way they did. Even though it was a compilation album, A COMPLETE sold much better than any of us expected and is still selling so I don't think Ayu's decreasing popularity is not the only thing dragging her sales down.

Wow how did it manage to get top 10 for the week?! It shows that the daily rankings are not completely indicative of what the weekly ranking might be.

SURREAL RAINBOW, i'm not complaining, i'm lamenting. It's going strong true, but it's going to be a drib and drab from this point on. The first 3 weeks sort of determine what the total sales might end up as. From now onwards, the total sales figures will inch up toward 400k and die before reaching it. That's my prediction.

Jaw-dropping! Way to go Ayu O_O;....

If it's really 13k+ then WOW!

I think the oricon website only updates the weekly sales on wednesday. That's last week's sales. If you look at the albums with NEW beside them, they were released on 15/4 which means those sales were from 13/4 to 19/4.

That's what I too think will happen.

actually the position #7 isnt mean the weekly ranked #7, but it's mean NL is 7th best album in 2009

Oh, right it's #14 weekly LOL like I guessed but the sales were really good compared to the position this week!
