Ayu in italian weekly magazine "Il venerdì di Repubblica"
 

Last week I was going to Milan by train and, because of the long trip, I bought a popular newspaper called “La Repubblica”. Enclosed there was the newspaper’s weekly magazine where, with my great surprise, I found AYU!!!!!
Even though my casting in Milan got a bad result, this discovery made me so happy.

MADE IN JAPAN The last trend in Tokyo is to wear Louis XVI court’s inspired clothes

A TREND CALLED 18TH CENTURY DESIRE

Between an anime and Louis XVI’s court we can find the latest trend Made in Japan.
It is called Himekei and consists in dressing up like 18th century’s ladies.
The trend smashes among Meiji Street’s girls, in the deep heart of Harajuku.
Their inspiring sources are the queen of J-Pop Hamasaki Ayumi and the cult movie Marie Antoinette (Sofia Coppola).
The furnitures to decorate their “antique style” bedrooms can be bought at princess House INC and their favourite brand is Osaka’s Jesus Diamante that opened many shops in the capital; here, these modern Japanese princesses queue up to gain the expensive colthes (starting from 450 arriving to 1200 euro each) from Marie Wanpi’s collection, designed by Chinomi Yuri.
The girls are helped by shop assistants, a great group of addicted to this style.
The most famous one is Keiko Mizoe, 24 years old, called Princess Keiko. Her presence is, actually, in the pages of every magazine loved by Himekei fans.
Really popular is, for example, Koakuma Ageha: approximately 350000 copies.
Unbelievable the bill these modern ladies spend every month for their passion: 3000 euro.

Gothic Lolita is a different style altogether. Hime-kei is very similar to hime-gyaru. Except that hime-gyaru have more make-up and usually more like, blond hair, like Keiko. The have more gyaru looking faces. Hime-kei is less about the face, and just about the clothes.

it sucks that she got mistaken for another person. but at least she is mentioned in the text. i just wished the caption recognized her as Ayumi Hamasaki! If someone read that, they'd go wow she's pretty and searches "Keiko Mizoe"

It surprises me how long it took the world, and even Japan, to catch onto the hime trend. I've been following that fashion for a looong time.

no way! 9 years ago when I discovered Ayu i think I was one of the little amount of people knowing her in Italy..now, maybe through anime and manga diffusion, it seems there is more interest in J-pop products but not really rilevant.. :(

Ayu was dressed up in that style in a magazine photoshoot but that was like a looooooong time ago. Personally I love the era myself and I'd love to furnish my home like that and dress like that. :D Too bad you only get away with it in Japan.
