NOTHING FROM NOTHING

Anyone know the album credits for this album...?
Such as producer/lyricist/composer.

I tried searching but apparently it was too common. X_X

so its NOT Max Matsuura who discovered ayus lyric talent? she said she wrote her first lyrics cause max asked her to o.0 this is like the bike issue and the "first song: poker face"issue, ayus avex lies o.0

jean-baptiste 1st May 2009 09:56 PM

^yeah that is kinda shocking.

its like that old saying "everything thats in the dark will someday be brought to light."

tsk, tsk, tsk.
why must ayu lie to us? =\

noidea 1st May 2009 10:23 PM

^ I really doubt ayu wants to lie to us, she seems to love her fans, avex is propably GUILTY for the lies, because her idol past is not good for her career, people dislike idols, but she doesnt need to lie to us after so many years, everybody knows shes amazing by now, something like that wouldn't destroy her career anymore

pommy48 1st May 2009 10:25 PM

well max discovered ayu after she was let go(?) by columbia? or did she just leave?

micster 1st May 2009 10:29 PM

The single/album was a failure so nothing happened and it wasnt till a year or 2 after where Max heard her sing in a karaoke bar where he discovered her talent. If you hear Nothing from Nothing you'll hear why it didnt sell.

Yoake 1st May 2009 10:42 PM

I don't think Ayu lie us! I think you misunderstood. According to you how Max could discover the talent of Ayu ??? He surely read her first song and decided to say her to write her own lyrics like she said before! So she didn't lie

jean-baptiste 1st May 2009 10:54 PM

^oh i see.
so its not like it was said "she wrote her first song with MAX" but more like she started writing AGAIN, thanks to him.
i get it now.

and to be honest NFN isn't all that great. =\
i like the first track though.

btw, what does it mean that she had an idol past?

noidea 1st May 2009 11:34 PM

no, you people got it wrong, im not talking about ayus talent in general, but ayus lyrical talent, she wrote max DISCOVERED her lyrical talent after they wrote letters to each other and asked her to write HER FIRST LYRICS, shes saying its HER FIRST LYRICS and that she NEVER WROTE LYRICS BEFORE...I guess i have to go search for the interview again...was it Light and Shadow?

jean-baptiste 2nd May 2009 12:30 AM

^hmm... intresting.
i do remember reading something like too.
we'd know for sure if we knew the EXACT words she said.
i dont think the interview would be that hard to find.

:D Interesting, maybe she wrote her first lyrics before NFN?:lech

Andrenekoi 2nd May 2009 07:26 AM

oh noes! she lied! how will I sleep tonight?!

ok, so she wrote one lyric to one crap song... is it the end of the world?

zyoeru 2nd May 2009 07:32 AM

^ How can you be so blasé about this?! It's ruined my LIFE! :( :( :(

Thanks guys. :thud

Andrenekoi 2nd May 2009 08:11 AM

/\ Do you need a hug? :(

zyoeru 2nd May 2009 08:40 AM

^ :'( I think I do. I just can't believe Ayumi lied to us all. What a Liar. :'(

No, I honestly doubt she lied, to be honest she probably doesn't even REMEMBER NOTHING FROM NOTHING. xD

mcluva420 2nd May 2009 08:50 AM

i liked NOTHING FROM NOTHING...kinda :)
i think some songs sound funny, and shes so cute when she raps.
also, she always says "1, 2, 3" and "A, B C" and the alphabet 0.o

She once said that her first studio record was poker face too.. Why are they so mysterious about her time as actress/under Nippon Columbia? Gosh.. >.<

noidea 2nd May 2009 10:53 AM

Yes, she is very confused about her lies, too, because in the A Song for XX notes she said FRIEND was her first studio recording and in Light & Shadow she says its poker face^^

Delirium-Zer0 2nd May 2009 07:38 PM

She didn't say FRIEND was the first song recorded EVER, she said it was first as opposed to poker face.

And the conversation in the documentary went roughly like this:
"I was recording my first single..."
"poker face?"
"Uh... yeah."

She did hesitate a tiny bit before saying "yeah" - mentioning NFN there woulda kinda killed the moment, given that she was talking about her grandmother's death at the time. She could have clarified that she meant debut single under the name "Hamasaki Ayumi," or she meant debut under avex, or whatever, but that woulda been a bit of a tangent and the momentum of the conversation woulda been lost. But you can tell she thought of mentioning it. Plus, officially, poker face IS her first single - because NFN was under a different name.

And I think it's more likely that the lyrics to LIMIT were ghost written. They're not really her style (sure her style probably changed alot between 1995 and 1998, but still), and to give her more "credibility" it's entirely likely that someone else wrote the lyrics to LIMIT, but she contributed a tiny bit so they decided to give her all the credit to make her look better. It happens all the time. I could believe that "poker face" were really the first lyrics she wrote all by herself.

jean-baptiste 2nd May 2009 09:01 PM

^you bring up good points.

right

I actually didn't remember what exactly she said and the circumstances, youre probably right then

maikaru 2nd May 2009 10:13 PM

actually I really want to know what she thinks about nothing from nothing now.. ahaha.
Actually, nothing from nothing sounds like a title she would have used in her early years with Avex~~

Yoake 2nd May 2009 10:23 PM

I agree with Delirium-Zer0 and I think Ayu totally separe her life before and after her debut career. Before she was only AYUMI and now she is Ayumi Hamasaki. It's like two diffrent job. I remember the CNN interview she always says Ayumi Hamasaki and not only AYUMI

kendelle 4th May 2009 09:12 AM

I think Deli brings up good points about the ghost writing. LIMIT doesn't really fit in with any other lyrics she's written and while you can say she changed a lot in the years 1995-1998 I don't think it will really change that much. Her style from 1998-2009 hasn't been that drastic, plus, I didn't think it was all that common for debut acts to be given that much creative control over their first release - I figured that most times the first album songs are mostly ghostwritten and depending on sales they get more control....but that might just be the AU music industry :P

And I don' think that JAJ's question was answered yet - before joining Avex, Ayu performed as an Idol - she basically sang covers of songs and did bikini shoots/videos (clips she sang on tv shows back then are available in the fan-made album MOON which is available here on AHS).

As for the term "Idol past" (sounds shady, huh?) - there's a video of her riding a bike in her Idol days (that I haven't seen yet) but in a later TV appearance she didn't know how to ride. She might have forgotten or have become afraid of bike riding or something but there's a chance she was acting :yes

emi♡ 4th May 2009 10:01 AM

No I don't agree. I think this is why she wrote the song Liar on MY STORY.

chloeM 4th May 2009 03:50 PM

i wouldn't call her a liar... maybe it's just a misunderstanding, kinda?

taskinillusion 6th May 2009 03:11 AM

You guys are confusing me....

I like LIMIT and Paper Doll though. /random

mimika 7th May 2009 07:54 AM

that interview was in TIME ASIA years ago

also i dun think ayu is lying...she is ayumi hamasaki/ayu with avex..but just ayumi with columbia

plus everybody knows about her past...why does she even need to lie? you only lie to cover up things you dun want ppl to know

either way..i dun care..i still like ayu and support her regardless of her past..everybody has their own past..ayu's lyrics is truly inspirational to me and that's all i care about. period.
