BoA is quite awesome!

Seriously, this album rocks so much, I'd never expect I'd ever get into BoA again, since I had lost the interest in her ever after she released Dakishimeru...(though I admit recently getting impressed by "Eien", which is actually a pretty good song though I was thinking she probably did a mistake with it for making a good song after releasing so much crap lately). I only got to listen to her american album now (though I had listened to Eat you up and thought the song had "forced faked up sentences" that made it sound bizarre, and was afraid the rest of the album would have the same mistake they made on it). I know...a little late to listen to it since it's been released for a while already..but I'm in love with it. Anyone can tell me if it's really selling anything over the US? :shrug Some of the songs really have a great potential for being launched, unlike those from Utada's (which are pretty good songs -don't get me wrong, i actually love This Is The One a lot- but still carry too much japanesey flavor in them). I wish they'd start selling it over Brazil :( I definitely need to have a copy.:yes

Polyrhythm 15th May 2009 06:11 AM

Yes BoA is quite amazing now that you mention it...but isnt there a BoA thread somewhere already?

NintendoHTF1242 15th May 2009 06:12 AM

I was mad at myself for not listening to this album before xD I listened to UNIVERSE and I hated her voice

but then I listened to I Did It For Love, Energetic, Did Ya, and Touched. And now I love the English album xD although I don't know if I will like her Japanese / Korean stuff.

I'm not sure if there's a specific thread for this album (since it has a really vague title lol). I can only find the "official" threads. And I just want to talk about this album specifically. Not about her latest pictures or her last appearance on a TV show :shrug

LOL I actually started listening to some of her japanese/korean stuff again. And songs that I completely despised/ignored from her lately, i'm starting to like XD Like "Key of Heart" which I though was putrid, I'm actually humming to it recently lol :laugh

love in music 15th May 2009 06:14 AM

i don't think it's selling much, i think it's still under 5k? yay for BoA love
so this is a thread for thoughts on the album BoA?
i love it. i haven't been playing it much recently but all of the songs are so catchy and fun. definitely an underrated album!

haha I made the title to be ambiguous. I posted it on "Generic music chat" because it's for her american album. However, I definitely made it to spread the love for the artist as well. I had lost all interest in her, but I've regained my love all back again, which actually scares me. That's really a good thing, bewcause I had personally had lost all faith on her, but, hey, was I wrong! :yes

And 5K? :( Oh well, I hope it will at least get to be sold over here..I can only pray....

pommy48 15th May 2009 06:25 AM

omg totally!! i fell kinda in love with BoA at first, now i love almost all the songs, it's just so catchy, and i still feel it appeals more than utada's album~

paper_doll 16th May 2009 01:04 AM

I've never been a BoA fan, but this album is really, really good :yes

fake_foxtail 16th May 2009 01:25 AM

In my opinion I think it's the best album released this year. :luv2

I haven't been a huge fan of her but this album made me like her more.

tommy96814 16th May 2009 01:54 AM

i think they digitized her voice too much in her U.S. album. also, i dont like her low voice i like her high pitch voice lolz

Kingdom 16th May 2009 02:56 AM

i actually like it a lot too. it got old quite fast for me though (just like tito :roflmao) but it's not as bad as everyone was making it out to be

Thats including digital and physical sales combined...but thats for the U.S In Japan it sold way more than that. The album kinda flopped here in the U.S though....which I think is only cause whoever manufactures her album isnt printing enough copies for it to get noticed

visionfactory 16th May 2009 04:32 AM

I'm a pretty new fan of BoA ^^ THE FACE was my favorite album (because I liked 5 songs from it) till I heard her english album
I love this album, every song is very well produced, this is one of the two albums I have on my iPod :yes

chloeM 16th May 2009 05:42 AM

yeah... she's awesome... especially when she dances

I only found it for the first time last week (after checking my local store, plus another in the US). I still haven't found Utada's album yet.

I think the album really had potential to do well in North America :shrug

I agree. It has a lot of potential..if only...

zoomzoom 16th May 2009 08:04 AM

I had a lot of faith in this album for North America, I really think it's something that could've been a big seller if it had had heavy marketing, tie ins on TV or something. She really owns what she's doing on the album, it doesn't sound like she's trying too hard or is imitating something. At least to me that is, I was never a BoA fan before this album. I did hear some BoA fans go "NO you're sexing it up too much, it's not you!"

sugarbasil 16th May 2009 08:35 AM

I only got about 1/3 through the album before I had to stop listening to it (had to leave), and that was quite a while ago; but I distinctly remember really liking it. :yes I actually completely forgot about it until you mentioned it; and since you brought up how good you think it is, I'm totally going to go find it and listen to it some more. <3

Also, for the record, I haven't heard and of BoA's songs anywhere since its release, but I've surprisingly been hearing Utada's "Come Back to Me" MULTIPLE times in various places. I heard it on the radio in Milwaukee and Minneapolis, and I also heard it in a store at Mall of America. I'm wondering why she's being played so much and not BoA...?

Polyrhythm 16th May 2009 08:38 AM

I have the album...and I think too many of the songs sound like each other...with only hypnotic, eat you up, IDIFL, and Girls on Top being standouts. She needed a ballad of some sort and a less synthesized voice. I think she had ample marketing though, the radio tour, the MTV appearance, the Maple Story tie in, and that live appearance in Pasadena

Atleast you've heard Utada...I have yet to hear either...she's probably getting more plays cause Island is a bigger company.

zoomzoom 16th May 2009 09:31 AM

^Did BoA ever go on the real MTV? I only remember her going on that weird MTV Iggy that nobody has ever heard of. o_o

Maemi 16th May 2009 11:53 AM

I like it very much! Scream, Girls on Top, Obsessed are amazing! But my least fav is Dress Off.

AyUta 18th May 2009 09:17 AM

The album is amazing! I'm totally in love with it since I first heard it and still am :laugh

Um, I think it sold like, 8k from when I last heard,

ayumixfan 18th May 2009 10:55 AM

I think the album is ok. Like I can understand why people would like it, but because i feel that it sounds like BlackoutxTheFame, I can't really get into it because it doesn't stand out at all :S Britney's Blackout was amazing and Lady Gaga's the fame was amazing to me, but BoA's album seems like a weaker mix of the two with more of blackout placed into it than lady gaga. I feel that when I listen to boA's album I find that I'll just want to switch to Britney's Blackout haha.... Like I think her album is WAY more mainstream friendly than Utada's, but I can't get into it because i think it sounds like a knock off of Blackout with elements of Lady gaga D:

I hope she succeeds in the US eitherway tho : )

Tony G 18th May 2009 11:47 AM

I hate BoA's japanese/korean stuff, but the USA album got me hooked.

It's a shame it didn't sell well, but it doesn't change the fact she made a decent album.

spookshow 18th May 2009 01:19 PM

i love her us album! I thought it was ok at the start... but man it has grown on me! My current fav is hypnotic dancefloor

paper_doll 19th May 2009 07:46 AM

I was quite surprised to hear Eat You Up being played. I was in the dressing room in Garage and it was playing in there.

AyuRox 20th May 2009 01:31 AM

Yeah, They're selling BoA (album) in he US, but its not very popular. I've only found it in one music store (of 2 that I've looked in, lol). And, to my knowledge, it hasn't gotten any airplay over the radio. More than likely, most people don't know about BoA, so they don't look for her music. And if they do come across the CD, they're prob like, "what the heck is this" and they walk right past it.

I'm not really into BoA, but if I can get a CD without paying a ridiculous price and without waiting on shipping, I'll go for it. Plus I heard the samples from iTunes, and it sounds pretty cool. And its getting good response here.

As for Utada's This is the One, The same thing applies. I'll buy if I don't have to pay a lot or wait on the mail. It just got a physical release a week or 2 ago, but its been on iTunes for months. That's kinda weird... But I haven't heard this one either. I've heard the samples on iTunes, and I'm kinda riding the fence about it. I already have Come Back to Me, and its great, but in the samples of the other songs, If there's something I like, I always seem to find something that I don't like. I gueass its not fair to judge a song on the samples, anyways.

ayumisrael 20th May 2009 02:05 AM

BoA's english album is great.
She really exceeded whatever expectation I had and the style is pretty good. =D

aqua_crystal 20th May 2009 07:59 PM

BoA is the bomb!!!! It's strange but I've really been addicted to MADE IN TWENTY and THE FACE again....

I LUURRRRRRRRVE the album, it's been on repeat in my car for weeks now.

I always put the window down and crank it, even though it's really cold to do so! x__X;

I would love to see it for sale her in AU, I think it would do really well. I think it's a superior album to TiTO, even though I like that album too :yes
