iPod or Zune?
 

Okay, I know that there was a thread on this topic about a year ago, but it's referring to older versions of both products. I think.

Anyway, my Creative Zen is now a useless piece of bum, and the store from which I bought it is giving me a credit to replace it. So, after talking to the sales guy, he convinced me that the iPod is a really good choice. However, after browsing, I realized that the Zune is very similar.

Which is the better product? I'm talking about the 120GB version of both players.

I have a 120GB Zune Original and I'm very satisfied with it. The screen is so big and the resolution is great for videos. The cover art shows up vividly and the media player on the computer makes it easy to tag music. It has a radio, clock, (free) games, and it is also wireless, which makes it possible to share music with other Zune users fast and efficiently. Now, you can even purchase music right off the Zune if you're near a wireless internet connection. They also house your photos and you can change your background to anything you want! I had Ayu, Namie, Kumi, my friends, family, even hot male models as my background lol.

Anything but iPod.. I hate that crap.

I prefer iPod, although I'm unsure how long it lasts before the battery goes dead. :/

I <3 my 5th generation 80GB ipod lol...but I wouldn't mind having a Zune.

apparently the new ones are really underrated...I didn't like the first ones...they were awful looking and in the worst colors.

There are definitely things I wish my ipod could do...but I mean, as just a media player...it's fine for me...I like the way I've customized mine as well...and it's never ever failed me. I don't really use it to watch movies so...that's not a problem for me. If I wanted to watch movies I'd buy a PSP or something...not an mp3 player.


I might be getting a new music player though...and I would definitely consider a Zune over the ipod touch...although I still don't really care for the design of the Zune...or the software.

i have a Zune currently... but only temp... my iPod Touch was stolen... i prefer iPod... Zune's customer service sucks...

i had to send my zune in to get fixed and it was 2 months before they told me they were sending me a new one... that took about a month to get... and when i got the new zune it was having the same issue... its like they took the HD out of the old zune and put it in the new zune...

IDK... Apple's customer service for stuff like this is almost no questions asked... quick quality service

My sister has a Zune is very happy with it. The Zune has that large screen that I really envy. I personally don't like the Ipod. Bought one and traded it in for a Zen. Happy with it. Haven't had a problem with it since I got it a couple of years ago.

I have an iPod, I've never had a Zune, but I have had problems with my iPod, but my iPod is pink so the pink makes up for the problems. X3

I've actually never had problems with my Zune... but I've heard some stories about that iPod. I just can't get with that scroll function.

iPod! I bought a 120g Zune and had to return it for a 120g iPod because if I tried to pick a new song once a song ended, it would freeze until I went home and plugged it into my computer >.>

Also, the Zune doesn't support asian characters.

that is another issue lol its a pain to have to go in and edit all the songs to make the names visible on the player and software..

there is a mod for them to make asian characters supported... but its a pain

Yeah, the lack of Asian compatibility is annoying, but they're getting more and more Asian musicians in their market so hopefully things will change! (Ayu's on there too <3)

Also, I don't mind that Zune doesn't support Asian characters:P I just don't want it do break. I do like that you can customize the Zune's wallpaper. I think that I'm going to go with the Zune :yes Thank you for your opinions, guys. You can still give them, though. I probably won't be buying it for a week.

lol the iPod Touch is actually more customizable than the zune... themes... wallpaper... and icons

^But it costs more for less space. I'm referring to the iPod Classic.

the thing with the zune is that, yeah, you can share songs with other zune users, but how many of your friends have a zune? none of my friends have them, i actually dont personally know anyone that has one. so for me to get a zune, one of the "cool" features wouldn't even be of use to me.

Originally I never knew which one to buy either, but I got a free ipod touch with my macbook and it's great. It get's a bit wacky sometimes, but nothing that doesn't take a minute to clear up by itsef. and i'm not complaining, it was free haha. But i really want the new ipod shuffle...

I always have my music on shuffle anyway :P and it's so small xD

But yeah, i don't really like the zune software either. Plus, going to a mac store is so much nicer than going to a non-mac store (microsoft) xDDDD

I used to only have MP3 players made by Creative Labs too and I just recently got my first iPod. It's the Nano fourth generation and I really like it! Nice and light and shiny and easy to use. Getting all of your stuff on there via iTunes is a LOT easier to do and manage than the way Creative made you do it. Don't know anything about the Zune though.

^seriously about the apple store thing lol...well one of the reasons I love my ipod, is kinda like what you were referring to with your friends...

Like all the stores have accessories and support for ipods...and I know it's just because it's like a trend and everyone has an ipod...but I mean, I really like being able to have a large selection of cases and protectors and whatever for my ipod.

I also like that itunes really does have an extensive library with dozens of artists.

It just seems like there's pros and cons to both products...I don't think that either one is better than the other...

I think the Zune would win if you just cared about having a media player and nothing else though.

^ Well, they have their own software that you have to use to create and edit playlists as well as edit videos to the right format to put them on there. Also, you have to create individual folders on the player using Windows Explorer, transfer the music into these folders and THEN create playlists, whereas with iTunes, you just put on there whatever you want when you have a playlist for it or whatnot. It eliminates steps and is just more organized and faster. :yes

Aha! Yeah! Seriously, I don't care if something doesn't work right unless it's pink. My iPod has a little rhinestone heart on the button too so that makes me love it more. X3

@taskinillusion: You actually used the software that came with it?? I deleted it like a month after and just used the sync tab on Windows Media Player :P

@Sakura_Genki: That sounds sooo cute! What kind of iPod do you have? I'm guessing a Nano, since you said it was pink.

I do like that there are more cases and stuff for the iPod, and it's shaped better. I really don't know what I want...

Yeah, I have a Nano. I totally typed Nana then. X3 I haven't decorated my iPod in a while. Last time I decorated it it looked like this. Now it just has that gem in the middle.

Ipods are poo in my hand. and i have no idea what a zune is. I use neither.

iPod, for sure. My brother had a zune and it broke down a few months later. Maybe it was bad luck though... Anyways, I have had iPods and now I have an iPhone and I'm really satisfied with it. :)

I prefer my itouch to anything else. The battery isn't so much a butt to me as my other mp3 players.

Actually, zune is much better than an iPod, but the problem is, not many people have it. I have an iPod, but I think Zune is the better product :(

BUT, I don't like the new nanos or the iTouch thingy everyone's so crazy about. For me, the best iPod is the one I have (last year's nano, the square gum-looking one).

The Zune has so many cool things:
- Big screen
- Radio
- Customizing (background image)
- Big display of CD cover art
- Great colors to choose (comparing to iPod classic, not Nano)

What I don't like is the program you need with the Zune. iTunes is much simpler too use. The Zune is also thicker and bigger. And the major reason why I didn't buy it: IT CAN'T DISPLAY ASIAN CHARACTERS!!

In the end, the iPod is the player I've always had. Easy to use. Simple.

I LOVE the scroll lol It's so easy to go anywhere. I even have a skin over mine and it works...for the Zune...that was another thing...I heard that the click wheel thing can like misinterpret where you wanted to go, if you dont press it like, absolutely right in the center and stuff.

The Zunes have that feature now, but at least you can turn it off. Other than that, the iPod is alright in my opinion. But I don't know what I'd do if I weren't able to change my background picture ever... I change it like... everyday xD; Right now I'm sporting Kuu's 3 Splash covers lol. Also, the wireless syncing is THE BEST. I leave my Zune in the speaker set or plugged up somewhere in the house and I'm always in a different location. So, instead of trying to go find it to sync music to it, I can sync it wirelessly from anywhere in my house, holla!

So, apparently, there are going to be hardware upgrades for the Zune this month. They are now going to retail at $180 instead of $250. I wonder what the upgrades will be?

^Um, I think that's software. I think that they are changing the way it looks, or something. It probably won't be released for a few months. Which really stinks, cause now I gotta wait.

Ipod classic!!

Awww... That's not exciting. I'm not trading mine in for a new one (technically I can't) my Zune already is everything I need it to be right now. Some Asian font would be nice, Microsoft T_T;... I mean for goodness sakes, it was made in China.

Zune never convinced me, but this new version is amazing ^^

I love the iTunes, it handles my 90GB of music files pretty well :D

So beautiful! But, if it's touch, then won't it only go up to like, 32GB instead of 120?

surely you're right, because a 120GB version would be very expensive.
but it should have a bigger capacity than 32GB since it supports 720p videos.
hope they give us more information soon.

^Well, I do like the Zune that is out now. As long as it isn't discontinued then I'm happy. I guess I will have to wait for more information before I make my final decision.
