PCDL HK version

I read this review at YA:

Quote:

Please Please Please! if you love watching Ayumi concerts and can afford to buy the JAPANESE version of Premium COUNTDOWN 08-09, then stay away from the Hong Kong version. IT HAS HARD SUBTITLES THAT CANNOT BE TURNED OFF!!! They are right in the frame of the concert. These are extremely distracting and take away from the whole live experience. I have emailed Avex Asia to complain about this problem. And you should too. The reason we all buy the Asia version is because it is half the price of the Japanese version. but if the stupid people at Avex Asia continue to butcher our beloved AYU, we may all be forced to pay more for the Japanese version.
Is it true? They put chinese hardsubs on the DVD? I mean, why would they do that? D: This is totally going to ruin the experience, man!

pommy48 31st May 2009 12:54 AM

what @_@ i thought it could be turned off and that the TW press DVD can't? @_@

majrakun 31st May 2009 01:01 AM

Really? I do hope this guy is confused with the versions, because I just ordered the HK version yesterday T___T It's not like I can afford the JP version anyway D:

nanakopy87 31st May 2009 02:25 AM

they are going to take back all the old stock(which is HARDSUB) and re-release another batch where they improved on this :
- 16:9 anarmorphic
-subtitles can be turned off
-better quality (almost same as JP version)

majrakun 31st May 2009 02:30 AM

Okay, when did they start doing that? I JUST ordered yesterday, but it's through someone else, and I hope she gets informed by this change >_<

pommy48 31st May 2009 02:31 AM

so they won't redo the taiwan press then? @_@

oo did you order from ebay? maybe you can check again~

majrakun 31st May 2009 02:42 AM

Nope, I ordered through YA, but through my teacher, my friends are also ordering through her, she's nice enough to help us since she's also ordering ^^

ren0210989 31st May 2009 03:28 AM

^wow your teacher listens to Ayu????
cool :D

majrakun 31st May 2009 04:57 AM

No, she listens to Korean boybands, but since she offers us to make some orders through YesAsia together with her, it's all good!

i'm not sure if YA will shipping out the new batch or old batch since HK there will only exchange the DVDs start from next week if not mistaken

majrakun 31st May 2009 06:14 AM

Oh man, have to cancel? I guess that's the best way, I hope she won't be annoyed with this. 0__0

nanakopy87 31st May 2009 06:19 AM

i'm not sure that the current stock that YA has is the new one or the first batch.or maybe you can e-mail to YA to ask ?

majrakun 31st May 2009 06:30 AM

Oh...I really don't know much about YA, actually. Just gave the name of my orders to my teacher @__@ how long does it take for YA to ship out anyway? Maybe if they haven't shipped out my copy, that means they'll give the new batch, right?

nanakopy87 31st May 2009 06:38 AM

hahahaha...i can't help you,sorry...i never bought any things from YA.that you have to ask them.lol...

P/s :i found out that YA doesn't have an e-mail address ??!!

freedreamer 31st May 2009 07:02 AM

nanakopy87 31st May 2009 07:17 AM

yeah, the HK version was actually remake from the taiwan version, so it is the same.
but i'm fine with the subs, i actually bought the hk version because there's chinese sub. i got the japan version already, but i really like this concert so i would prefer to have subs on the screen.
but i'm wondering should i cancel mine, and reorder again because the quality will be better....hmmm

i think the stocks they have on hand are the old one, so you will end up with the hardsub version

they don't.

you have to log into your account, and under your order, there will be a option to contact them.

jiarongisme 1st June 2009 09:37 AM

Guys~ I have the Taiwan version and the quality is perfectly fine! :) Just a slight difference with a DVD without subtitles. But I guess you should watch it from afar (like in a living room where the sofa is of a certain distance away from the TV). I've watched the whole concert in my room, on the bed, and it's perfectly fine. In fact, I like the subtitles thing because I don't have to refer to some translation sheet to see what they're talking about.

keikeiaznqueen 1st June 2009 10:58 AM

I actually like the subtitles, lol, I thought it was a great addition so I could understand the concert. XD;;

So I didn't go and find out if I could turn them on or off or anything... well...

SURREAL__RAINBOW 1st June 2009 02:21 PM

lol a DVD with subtitles that you cannot turn off is just pointless and stupid.

what the hell is AVEX asia thinking?? I hope they learn from this one, because to re-make all those DVDs are gonna cost them a lot of money

stupid idea ever! bravo AVEX

dreamland2.0 1st June 2009 09:34 PM

I guess it's nice if you can read Chinese, but not so nice if you can't.
I'm kind of glad now that I spent all that money on the JP press :dead2

dannysan 1st June 2009 11:23 PM

i didn't know about the subtitles:(:(, i order mine a week ago and i guess it will arrived in this week:(.

all the dvds from avex asia will be like this? with subtitles?

because i saw that the newest concert of ai otsuka also says "subtitles:Traditional Chinese"(:(

Taru86 2nd June 2009 05:38 AM

*sigh* I find out about this today, and my order just shipped from YA yesturday....

nanakopy87 2nd June 2009 06:06 AM

wonder if we can exchange it with the new batch or not...
send it back to YA?

SURREAL__RAINBOW 5th June 2009 05:15 AM

got email from yesasia! they are replacing the stuffed up DVDs for new ones... they already sent mine! :D

nanakopy87 5th June 2009 05:26 AM

yuhoo..that's a good news !!!
btw,i've attached some screenshots of the new version PCDL at the news there

SURREAL__RAINBOW 5th June 2009 05:32 AM

gonna check them out now :)

Taru86 8th June 2009 12:42 AM

The defective copy thats been shiped, should arrive within the next two days. But a few days ago I got an e-mail for YA saying that they've sent me a copy of the fixed version as a replacement, free of charge, and I don't even have to send back the defective copy. So now I'll have two PCDLs.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 9th June 2009 01:15 PM

I got the bad copy the other day... the subtitles doesnt bother me, the quality of the image is just ridiculous!! its sooo bad... its like watching from youtube or something... really really bad, the camera angles change really fast, and they dont even show ayu close up.

they also added the names of the songs when they start, and they named the song Days "Day".... arghh

the new DVDs that they sent better be good...

LacusClyne 9th June 2009 02:51 PM

^the camera angles wasn't done by Taiwan nor hongkong, they are originally done by Japan side, it's the quality that had go down.

agashi 9th June 2009 10:13 PM

thats good if i can understand chinese subtitle...@_@

so..avex asia re-released PCDL for HK? im still confusing about this..>_<

Lanz16 9th June 2009 10:55 PM

^ Same here, I will get one on YA and is the Chinese subtitles can REALLY turned off/on and the picture quality is now better?

jiarongisme 10th June 2009 05:58 AM

^ Yep! It will be better. :D

well, the bad quality makes the angles look really weird, and the image looks dark and blurry. I can hardly see ayumi's face during the concert :S

thats why I'm hoping the new DVDs are a lot better.

nanakopy87 10th June 2009 08:44 AM

i think the angles are okay...some blurry shots are meant to be as a special effect.and i think this time,PCDL 08-09 is the best one.(i meant the angle and the effects that they are using)

by the way,i think the new version one only make changes on the video quality and not the angles

ohh ok! I think it will be fine if they fixed the quality in this one :)

nanakopy87 10th June 2009 09:25 AM

hahahahaha....it will be much more better now, ithink and i'm satisfied if the quality of the video is ALMOST SAME as the JP version.

kendelle 11th June 2009 03:49 AM

When someone gets the new version let us know! I might just get the HK one if the quality's better than usual! I still haven't seen PCDL yet! ;__;

nanakopy87 11th June 2009 04:08 AM

yaya..update us....by the way,is the booklet and the cover colours different from JP version?as i can see, many said OS version will not be as nice as JP version...it will either yellowish or greenish..what about this time?
i'm deciding which version should i buy.HK or TW?
and about the subtitle,is it they are using proper chinese or the HK slang?

LacusClyne 12th June 2009 05:50 PM

the paper quality is always poorer compare to the JP version

Taru86 13th June 2009 02:50 AM

I just got my replacement DVDs for the HK version today (2 days after getting the original ones), and I must say that the quality is much better! Now I enjoy the concert a lot more since I'm able to turn off the subtitles!!

LacusClyne 16th June 2009 09:18 AM

i just got the replacement discs too, it's better then the first one, but the quality is still slightly lower compare to my JP version.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 16th June 2009 12:38 PM

I got the replacement discs today. I'm a lot more happier now. Even the subtitles look better lol

thanks AVEX (?)

The subtitles are Traditional Chinese. I don't understand what do you mean by "proper chinese" and "HK slang" if these even existed :shrug

nanakopy87 16th June 2009 01:35 PM

rofl....sry for my poor english...
the HK slang is the way HK people type like what you watch in those HK dramas
while my proper chinese is the traditional or simplified chinese where the language is known and common by the chinese people.not like HK slang where only or some of the chinese ppl know.hope you can understand what i'm talking about :p

LacusClyne 16th June 2009 01:40 PM

^i understand what you mean....

it's irrating seeing those cantose chinese sub at times, especially when you don't understand the langugue, like me.

anyway, to answer your question the HK version is using traditional chinese.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 16th June 2009 02:20 PM

they should add English subtitles next time!!!!

jiarongisme 16th June 2009 02:38 PM

^ I don't think it's ever gonna happen. avex Asia are releasing these for Chinese customers. English subs will probably be made when avex America or Australia is launched. :P

I see... Oh well, xD

I think that they should do Chinese and English, in Singapore and Malaysia they speak English also, so yea

jiarongisme 16th June 2009 03:21 PM

avex Asia and Taiwan only cares about what happens in their country. Malaysia and Singapore merely imports or directly produce the same contents.

i don't think this will happen for the time being since in malaysia, not many will buy it (very low demand).
somemore they need to hire another translator to do the translation job.it will cost quite a lot to hire a translator just to translate it to english
