JackieRos 22nd June 2009 04:34 AM

oh thats so awesome thanks

waterballoon 22nd June 2009 04:36 AM

I wish avex would buy 10k copies of Days and give them as Christmas presents to their staff so that the sales would reach 200k~ But awesome! It was just a spot away from Top 10!

Thanks for the head up!

nemesisyume 22nd June 2009 04:50 AM

oh those are quite good sales!
go ayu ~ :D

freedreamer 22nd June 2009 05:10 AM

i think Days/GREEN did very well! considering she is the top female (or so) now. hahaha.. (i think 3 SPLASH being a 3-Aside will overtake it though...)

and looking at the album chart...#2 and #3 has such a hugeee gap..gosh

im really quite happy for her :)

RikkuChii 22nd June 2009 05:16 AM

That's pretty good. Go Ayu! Who's #1 in album sales, anyways?

MR.CHILDREN's SUPERMARKET FANTASY in which they're the 2nd best selling Japan act of all time

AyuGAME 22nd June 2009 06:22 AM

i think she still the top soloist singer in that chart

duque 22nd June 2009 06:43 AM

thanks for the info!

Bigtop 22nd June 2009 07:51 AM

Thanks for sharing! It appears that she's still running strong, even with her current age and physical status that she only has one ear to hear...

Akimoto junko is the highest soloist singer , then yusuke , then ayumi in the single charts

Koda kumi is the highest in album charts, then ayu.

Luvia 22nd June 2009 01:42 PM

thanx for the news.. though i think she hasnt been doing as well as she used to be.. but she is still there!!!

Ayu_Ready 22nd June 2009 01:55 PM

Lee^ChaN 22nd June 2009 02:32 PM

congratz ayu!!!

*Petit* 22nd June 2009 03:28 PM

This makes Days/GREEN her best single results since 2005 potentially. I'm not sure how NL will do, if it will make it among the top 10 sadly.

Chef+Vanny 22nd June 2009 03:39 PM

gratz to Ayu
I find the rankings already quite good for ayu

yoshino 22nd June 2009 03:47 PM

yeah!! Hooray for NL!!

SolarAngel 22nd June 2009 04:36 PM

Hope the album doesn't drop out of top 10.

ayumisrael 22nd June 2009 05:00 PM

good rankin..
congrats to her..

rakeru 23rd June 2009 05:15 AM

NEXT LEVEL is doing well, but i expected DVD sales to be higher. :(

kendelle 23rd June 2009 05:46 AM

D/G is doing excellently! ^_^ I hope she gets another single in the Top 50 by year's end :)

Andrenekoi 23rd June 2009 06:36 AM

Guilty was at 8th in the last year mid-year ranking

chloeM 23rd June 2009 06:53 AM

ai~ can't believe Rule'd be that poor... i expect that to be in top 10 or something~

Uemarasan 23rd June 2009 07:47 PM

Guilty had a much lower yearly ranking than Next Level at the moment. Guilty was at number 17 on last year's chart! (Of course, this year, Exile didn't release 3 best-of-albums, and there are fewer best releases in general). But still!

jbrat2219 23rd June 2009 08:31 PM

My gosh! If the highest she got is #30 with 70K+ sales, how much did #1 sell?!

AyUta 23rd June 2009 08:37 PM

Good for Ayu :).

I think because this year has been a pretty poor year thus far in terms of albums.

As for the single rankings, you can at least get an estimate of where she might be at year end just from factoring in Johnny's singles alone. Arashi is releasing one in July and will probably have another one by years end, at least one more from Kat-tun, Kinki, News, Hey Say Jump, and Kanjani 8 - that right there will push her rankings down 7 places and that's only if those groups release just one single. The Yuusuke single coming out this week will also probably make the top 10. Then it just depends what other songs this year become the breakout hits.

Arashi sold 355,253. It also holds the record for the longest time at #1 for a concert DVD.(it is indeed an amazing concert though.) Something Arashi related is also #2. The Hana Yori Dango movie sold - 346,721.

It's extremely impressive for a concert DVD to beat the dvd sales of the best selling movie dvd - its the first time that has happened actually. Also 2 of their concert dvds from a couple of years ago made the top 50 as well. Arashi is certainly on a roll.

Kazeyomi 23rd June 2009 10:17 PM

omg boybands everywhere =_=

btw congrats to Ayu :heart

yeah this year's real crap if you're talking about physical CD sales for solos , be it for singles or albums

I want to highlight something about ARASHI . I really am hoping they will not release another single after next Wed's Everything

I want a best album of them as this year's their 10th anniversary & they haven't include singles in a new album from One Love onwards

& please don't remind me about poor Hey ! Say ! JUMP , I want new material of them now :weep & a debut album's so long overdue :grumpy

Yusuke - eee his 1st triple A-side single's out today :heart , I hope it will be a good one as I enjoyed Himawari

it's times like these that I'm so proud of supporting ARASHI :laugh & their Arashi Around Asia in Tokyo's an amazing concert :heart

Going by this...I think that if NL is #14 or higher at the end of the year she's doing fantastically! That's some stiff competition :yes

Everyone really did release everything last year.

Anyway, I think a lot of digital sales are unaccounted for. Not to mention the fact that these artists probably earn the bulk of their money from concert tours, contracts, tie-ins, and royalties and not so much single or album sales. Singles and albums are really about promotion for their music more than anything else.

lol. You totally misunderstood. They haven't released an album since One Love, so obviously none of their singles from One Love on have been on an album yet.

Not gonna lie, I contribute to the HYD sales hahaha. But as far as concert DVD sales, those figures are ridiculous! I didn't know they dominated like that in the DVD charts as well as the single charts!

Amen

The physical sales meant a lot (80's, 90's and the beggining of the century) back then since the digital sales and the internet was not as strong as it is now. And certainly the bigger amount of cash doesn't come from the music by itself 'cause the companies must struggle against illegal downloadings and piracy. :yes The big bucks come from the concerts and the tie ins, as Uemarasan said. this also applies in the U.s. with other artists.

Anyway... i'm so happy for ayu :D she works so hard and she totally deserves it :D I hope she can stay in the top ten by the end of the year :yes just wish Rule/sparkle could be in a higher position... :( anyway... congratulations Ayu!!!

besides I don't like to force people to listen to artistes whom I like & they don't & vice versa , it's not fair for both parties at all

Yay! I'm hearing it from you for the first time. :) I was expecting them to do that in November on their actual anniversary but maybe that will be when a new original album comes out. It will be interesting to see if the Best album manages to do better than most Johnny's albums do. I'm guessing yes.

Yeah, that is one of the few times where I actually think that the #1 single of the year sales wise was actually the best single of the year - musically and lyrically that song is indeed pretty awesome.

CoriKaru 25th June 2009 10:49 PM

Not that bad, but something will get bumped.

ストロボ・EdGE 25th June 2009 11:41 PM

What I don't understand about Arashi is how their album sales are considerably low when their singles sell so much. Their last album, according to Wikipedia (THE most reliable source, lol) sold less than 400K.

Cause, you know, album sales are almost always a lot lot more than single sales.

EDIT: Last album sold 319,447 copies.

In general all Johnny's groups sell more in singles than they do albums. Although there are certainly plenty of other artists on the jpop scene whose albums don't do great compared to their singles either. I think this Best album though will easily pass the 500k mark.

The reason for the lower album sales for Johnnys? I think its because traditionally, even going back to the 80s, in general the album tracks have been very weak compared to the singles and so casual fans learned a long time ago that it was much more cost effective to buy the singles and/or bests rather than the albums. Although i would say that at least in Arashi's case, their album tracks have been quite good over the last couple of albums - but still the stigma of bad Johnny's albums remains and it'll be hard to get rid of. SMAP has also put out a few good albums here and there. In general though, I agree that most Johnny's albums aren't worth buying unless you just want the singles.

Ayumiko 26th June 2009 01:00 AM

I have a feeling arashi's best album will sell a lot...not sure if it will be yearly #1 but it should be one of the top albums.

well they're going to start touring real soon

indeed indeed

everyone in the ARASHI fandom was so shocked at the time when truth was released because it sounded like nothing on what they have done before

& the fact that it was used in leader Ohno Satoshi's very 1st drama Maou & the type of role he played is a sharp contrast to his real life self (this's a guy who will turn 29 this year & his mum still buys his clothes & shoes LOL xD xD xD) , that's even saying something more

true & also the fangirls like myself are real poor . Like a single cost about 1,000 yen & you compare it against an album which's 3-4,000 yen , naturally the fangirls will rather buy 3-4 editions of the same single (just like me haha :laugh)

it always has been the norm for Johnny's albums to sell lower than its singles counterparts (even KAT-TUN's Best of KAT-TUN lodged about 750K if you compare it against their million selling single Real Face) & you have no problems putting out multiple editions of an album rather than a single

promo wise , singles are more heavily promoted as compared to albums .

as much as I love ARASHI , I have to say that their last album Dream"A"live was real terrible on 1st listen as the album tracks were really bland & I was so disappointed in it as their older albums's material were better & the solos were eeee :dead2

I'm OK with it now but I will not call it my fave album of the guys (it has to go to ARASHIC & Time :) )

I doubt it will be the album of the year , sales wise

I think it depends on how many copies JStorm plan to print/sell but it's quite a known fact that Japan do loves best compilation albums & in some cases , it helped the popularity of an artiste to shoot though the roof *points to Koda Kumi , EXILE & Kobukuro

not sure if anyone had posted the full singles ranking yet. I was a bit surprised at who didn't even make the top 20, and annoyed that boybands inevitably topped it. btw, does anyone know who the first artist is? the kanji doesn't ring a bell.

LMAO

Travis got that right (sorta) & let me fill that in

ARASHI / Yano Kenta starring ARASHI's leader Ohno Satoshi - Believe / Kumori Nochi , Kaisei

Kumori Nochi , Kaisei is the 1st solo song released by ARASHI as a single under the name Yano Kenta starring Ohno Satoshi because KNK was used as the theme song for leader's 2nd drama Uta no Onii-san (a cool drama btw which starred him & Kanjani8's Maruyama Ryuhei & GIRL NEXT DOOR's frontwoman Chisa)

while Believe was used as the theme song for member Sakurai Sho's movie Yatterman

YAY for those that I have highlighted :heart especially the Johnny's bands that I die die support <3 & I have a feeling that ARASHI's going to nail both the #1 & #2 yearly spot in the singles chart again . If so , it will be an amazing gift for them since this year's their 10th anniversary

wow , I just & so can imagine if they will dominate the singles , album & DVD chart since they have already dominated the singles & DVD chart at this point in time :yatta

& of course go ayumi , Namie , GReeeeN , Yusuke & Fukuyama Masaharu's Keshin (I'm so obsessed with the song now , you have no idea how many times I have been listening to it since the 1st time I heard it :lmfao)

I CANNOT believe "Ai No Mama de..." is at number three! Wasn't that released like, February last year?? But it makes me think Akimoto Junko will be a "one-hit wonder". Haha.

GReeeeN has a lot on the singles charts too, yay!
