Yeah, the song Crazier was performed in the Movie :yes

rookies 21st November 2009 07:02 AM

Wow, is this the first Taylor Swift thread ever? I thought she would have had one earlier, but anyways, I found out about her from the incident at the MTV awards, lol.

And her song "You belong with me" plays non-stop on the radio, and that's also how I got into her.

I'm going to check out her other songs. ^^

Raleigh 21st November 2009 07:09 AM

She's become quite a phenomenon for her age. I like her style and music. She pulls off the girl next door quite well ^^

TITANIC 21st November 2009 04:15 PM

I only like love story but she's so beautiful. Im going to watch her tour in sydney next year on 7th february 2010

kiseki89 21st November 2009 04:33 PM

Recently discovered her from watching mtvchina which was playing You Belong With Me.
Then i heard her Love Story, then her fearless album.

You belong wih me, love story and teardrops on my guitar are my favs.

Good to see that she has her own thread

rookies 26th November 2009 04:30 AM

I'm just wondering, but which awards was she nominated for at the AMA's?

And which ones did she win?

luna7996 26th November 2009 06:02 AM

American music awards?
excuse me if I am wrong but I think this is the list:

won:
Taylor Swift Artist of The Year
Taylor Swift Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist
Taylor Swift Favorite Country Female Artist
Fearless Favorite Country Album
Taylor Swift Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist

nominated
Fearless Favorite Pop/Rock Album

:D

This is the first time I post in this thread. I really like Taylor's lyrics and her songs are very catchy. Her albums are something that I can easily lisen to all day in my car.:yes

rookies 26th November 2009 12:20 PM

^ Yes, AMA = American Music Awards. Thanks for answering my question! And woah, she won 5 awards. *__* And also, welcome to the thread. :)

----------------

I checked Billboard's Top 200 Albums Chart just now, and "Fearless" is at #5 position, after spending 53 weeks on the chart! OMG! America loves her! I haven't heard the album yet, I am going to do that soon. xD

luna7996 29th November 2009 05:30 AM

^ Fearless is such a great album. There is not one song in there that I feel like skipping over. My least favorite song probably is ''Hey Stephen'' and is not half bad. I just dont like the beggining all that much. I downloaded both her albums as I was unsure about her but since I really like her music I am going to buy them officialy soon to support her.:P

waterballoon 2nd December 2009 04:02 PM

I don't want to be rude but I think 5 awards is kinda "whoa"... but whatever.

She has some songs I enjoy actually - Fifteen, You Belong With Me, Teardrops on my Guitar... good songs. The original mix for Love Story was a snorefest though lmao, I prefer the U.S Pop Mix which can be found in the deluxe edition irrc.

TITANIC 2nd December 2009 04:10 PM

IMO Taylor swift is overrated her music is not as good as Lady Gaga.
aiiyaahh,.. Gaga should win those awards not taylor swift though I love her

Yeah right :rolleyes Even though Taylor's music is not my type, she's one of the few young artists whose career and popularity does not rely on sexual behaviour, weird outfits or controversies, and she is a talented singer as well

I actually dont get the sudden interest that people have in comparing Taylor and Lady Gaga(speaking in general here-not trying to be mean to u or anything). They are like north and south. They have absolutly nothing in common(different music genre-diferent sence of fashion-different types of lyrics-etc.) exept maybe for the fact that they are the most popular artist of 2009.:D. I think they both are absolutly great in their own way and the both deserve the awards that they have been nominated for.

waterballoon 4th December 2009 04:50 AM

^ I think maybe it's because Taylor "snatched" all the awards from Gaga? XD Well we would never know...

oh and I've a question. Is Fearless her first and only album? Why do I have this feeling she has like 2 albums already

luna7996 4th December 2009 05:24 AM

She had an album before Fearless. Her self titled album ''Taylor Swift''. I think it was release on 2006 ?.?.?.

AyUta 4th December 2009 05:27 AM

I discovered Taylor through her song You Belong With Me as well :).

lol I can't believe I'm seeing "taylor swift" and "talented singer" in the same sentence without an "is not" in between :3

not gonna lie, her songs would be really great if she kept her mouth shut =/

Well, I get the same feeling with Koda Kumi, Lady Gaga, Hannah Montana and like half the pop music universe... Yet I don't bash on their respective threads. And at the end of the day it's just a matter of personal opinion.
I don't follow Swift's career or love it, yet, considering her age and the terrible status of commercial music nowadays, she's pretty nice

Have you heard Gaga sing outside of her studio recordings?

I digress, that's not the topic of this thread, and I shouldn't derail it by bringing it in

I really wish I could like that song about "belonging with me." The lyrics are pretty relateable to me, but that voice. Her lyrics are pretty nice, not gonna lie. And I'd love her songs if she could, you know, sing. I wish I could like her more :(

luna7996 14th December 2009 06:40 AM

Did you guys see her with straght hair?

Not sure what to think. I think I like her curles better but maybe I just need to get use to the new hair. In a couple of week I will love it...lol....I'm just weird that way...

GRACE 14th December 2009 07:57 AM

I love it, it makes her look like less of a ***** <3 I'm surprised with myself, but I actually think she looks really good like that

omg...:no
i prefer her with curles

rookies 21st December 2009 12:42 AM

I don't like how she looks with straight hair. :/

I'm listening to Fearless right now, it's good, but some of the songs are just ok, hmm... my opinion might change though maybe after some more listens.

Sundae 21st December 2009 02:02 AM

I thought people hated her here on AHS because Lady Gaga didn't win those awards.

She is technically country. That's her genre but musically she is different. I haven't bought the album but Love Story and Teardrops get played here all the time and they are so catchy.

koumori 21st December 2009 06:56 AM

The general opinion where I live is that Taylor Swift is another Disney singer..without the Disney. Her songs are cute, but nothing special to me. She did okay here with her debut of Love Story but hasn't released any singles after the release of her album Fearless...or if she did, it didn't reach the top 40.

slobro 21st December 2009 07:23 AM

"Love Story" is overrated but "You Belong With Me" is pop perfection. Especially the 'She wears short skirts I wear t-shirts' line.

luna7996 17th January 2010 03:45 AM

I just herd she won the People's choice awards for favorite female artist and there are also rumors that she is already working on her third studio album.....Where the heck have I been? How come so many news from her that I haven't heard....I'm sooo lost....:shakehead lol

TITANIC 21st July 2010 01:36 AM

Taylor Swift will release her third studio album, "Speak Now" -- the follow-up to 2008's "Fearless" -- on Oct. 25, the country star announced Tuesday (July 20). Swift shared the news with her fans on Ustream and said the album's first single, "Mine," will be released around mid-August.

"Ever since we put out 'Fearless' I've been writing this one," said Swift, who added that "Speak Now" will consist of about 14 songs. "Through the past two years, I've been through a lot of things that I have been dying to write about and talk about. There were a lot of things that I wanted to say in the moment but couldn't, and this album is my opportunity to do that.

Wearing a turquoise sundress and yellow headband with a glittery bow, Swift went into detail with her fans about the making of "Speak Now," which she wrote entirely on her own. "I didn't have any co-writers, and it didn't really happen on purpose," she explained. "I'd get my best ideas at 3 am in Arkansas when I didn't have any co-writers around, so I would just finish it." Swift said the same thing happened in New York, Boston and Nashville. "It just so happened that the songs that made the cut on the album were the ones I wrote myself, so, wish me luck!" she laughed.

The 21-year-old singer/songwriter co-produced "Speak Now" with longtime collaborator Nathan Chapman, who worked with her on "Fearless" and her 2006 self-titled debut.

As for "Mine," Swift said the song is about "my tendency to run from love...Every really direct example of love that i've had in front of me has ended in goodbye and has ended in breakups and things like that. So I think I've developed this pattern of sort of running away when it comes time to fall in love. This song is sort of about finding the exception to that."

Swfit also shared some other big news with her fans -- she recently moved into her first home. "I've been constantly talking about antique shopping," she said. "I'm having such a blast with it!"

Swift's "Fearless" album has sold 5.9 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, and was the best-selling album of 2009. Combined with her "Taylor Swift" debut as well as holiday albums and other releases, Swift has sold 11.7 million albums overall.

fuawas 24th August 2010 12:25 AM

I wanted to make a new thread of Taylor Swift but since it's made... haha
I love her music, she kinda reminds me of Shania Twain, but no entirely, just for some songs. I love them both *O*

Mine is GREAT! I really can't wait for the MV, it's aired this friday, August 24th!!
Speak Now's gonna be AWESOME!

TITANIC 24th August 2010 07:41 AM

I dont like Mine. I dont think its a good song for a lead single but whatever. it peaked 3rd in billboard chart already

Mirrorcle Monster 24th August 2010 10:16 AM

I also think that Mine it's not a strong single.

fuawas 24th August 2010 11:02 AM

I prefer it from Love Story. I like that song but it's too cheesy for me, it worked really well though, 6.5 million copies sold... lol

fuawas 25th August 2010 04:24 PM

Mine's MV leaked!
You can watch it here -> http://ileaks.com/698

TITANIC 25th August 2010 04:30 PM

Only 2 songs that i don't really love..

Luja. 5th November 2010 09:20 PM

Ohhh, I didn't know there was a Taylor thread here at AHS! Or did I know and forgot?
Well, whatever, I really like her and her music and just bought "Speak Now" Deluxe Edition today! Didn't listen to it so far but "Mine" is stuck in my head for days already, so I am sure I'll love it! :D
Moreover I am thinking about going to her concert in March 2011, she will come to Germany... ahh, I really want to go.. well, we'll see :)

Aditmi Krisnasaki ~II~ 8th November 2010 10:18 AM

^ and what are they? LOL

ren'ai 8th November 2010 11:05 PM

I love Taylor! Glad there are other fans, I rarely meet any...

I am loving Speak Now, got my CD today <3 She definately deserves those sales

My favourite tracks have to be Haunted, Mine, Back to December & Last Kiss :heart

Luja. 9th November 2010 08:11 PM

^ haha, I love every song expect for "Mean". The lyrics always tell an interestig story and I love how different and unique "Haunted" sounds. Plus "Never Grow Up" is totally amaziiiiiing!:heart Oh well, I could talk about every song for at least one thread-page:laugh

koumori 9th November 2010 08:41 PM

I saw the CD today but it's £10, so I'm going to have to wait until it's a little cheaper.

ren'ai 9th November 2010 08:52 PM

^ That's what I did with Fearless, Tesco brought it down to £5 :D

Mean's lyrics just made me LOL. I like singing along to it though, I love the bit she just starts calling people who say she can't sing "a liar, and pathetic" etc
But yess, Haunted is definately a unique sound for her!

And does anyone else think Back to December is about Taylor Lautner?

Luja. 9th November 2010 10:22 PM

^ I was thinking about it. Just recently found out they both acted in "Valentine's Day" together. They hang out together after filming ended, right? But was there ever something serious going on? They would make a very pretty couple imo.

Iyreen 10th November 2010 02:59 AM

Oh great, Taylor thread. I just lost my bid again on ebay for Speak Now deluxe Target edition. I hope someone could help me buy at Target store T.T I havent listen to the songs inside the album except for Mine (which I really love~~)

no, honestly, I will write them soon :D but I want to hear yours as well.

Btw, were Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner a couple? Like, officialy?

Tom Punks 10th November 2010 10:53 PM

I love Speak Now! :heart Taylor Swift is like the only thing I've listened to for a week now. My favorites are: Sparks Fly, Better Than Revenge, Enchanted, Speak Now, Mine, Haunted, Back To December, The Story of Us. Pretty much in that order.

ren'ai 11th November 2010 12:32 AM

woooo more taylor fans! :heart

@Luja. - I saw this show on TV where the host was asking her and she went all shy andd quite obvious
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/...r-romance.html

and thennn http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/...r-lautner.html

see the date? December! :o lol andd in the lyrics where she goes

"I miss your tan skin, your sweet smile, so good to me, so right,
And how you held me in your arms that September night,
The first time you ever saw me cry."

I think thats a reference to the MTV awards with the whole Kanye West thing. Taylor Lautner was on the stage when it happened

..lol I feel like a stalker

Luja. 11th November 2010 10:08 AM

^ and it seems you're pretty good at it:laugh

that really makes sense! Ah, I would love to see them as a couple, they look so good together!! well I guess I will just have watch Valentine's Day now.

btw, I will get a ticket for the Speak Now World Tour as a christmas present:D yay! anyone else here already know if they want to go?

ren'ai 11th November 2010 10:08 PM

^ haha why thank you ;)

You're so lucky! I really want to go see her, I might get a ticket for March date in London O2 arena but I don't know... I can't find anyone who will go with me :( None of my friends like her!

TITANIC 12th November 2010 01:37 AM

I dont kno why I always like her upbeat track like You belong with me and the story of us.

Luja. 12th November 2010 12:17 PM

^ because they are perfect to sing along with ;)

@Cherrim:
Good at staling I mean:laugh
I will probably go alone (since none of my friends / family likes her much as well). I think it's better to arrive alone and be amongst fans during the concert instead of forcing something you know to come with you who doesn't want to see her.

ren'ai 12th November 2010 08:17 PM

^ haha even if I forced someone with all my strength, still no one would come with me :( but yeah I'll probably end up going alone too

..and why is there a tag of hanna montana on this thread? :laugh

Luja. 12th November 2010 09:05 PM

Didn't they sang a song together? Or no, she was in the Hannah Montana movie?

ren'ai 17th November 2010 12:07 AM

^Ohh she sang in her movie... cool. Andd I finally found one of my friends that likes Taylor too! I don't know why but that got me real excited lol :| we might go to see her live <3

Aditmi Krisnasaki ~II~ 24th November 2010 04:25 PM

aww.... haven't bought Speak Now yet again... :( it's outsold everywhere... local record stores suck~~ XP XP

TITANIC 29th December 2010 01:09 AM

Speak now back again to #1 in US billboard chart replacing Subo

Aditmi Krisnasaki ~II~ 29th December 2010 04:30 AM

^ greaaattt~~ :D :D

i hope "Speak Now" will be the third single with an epic MV (just like the lyrics) :D

freedreamer 29th December 2010 07:45 AM

She better make Haunted and Sparks Fly singles as well..those two are probably my favourite songs in the album

ren'ai 31st December 2010 01:01 AM

^ Agree about Haunted. They could have a real epic PV to go with the epic song

Luja. 22nd February 2011 05:29 PM

Does anyone know if fans are allowed to take pictures at Taylor's concerts?

Mr GaGa 22nd February 2011 05:31 PM

I want a Haunted music video <3

U-GO-BOY 22nd February 2011 10:05 PM

I recently started to listen to more Taylor Swift songs and I love them soo much.. and some are so easy to play on guitar :)

Aditmi Krisnasaki ~II~ 23rd February 2011 12:53 PM

I'm dying for Enchanted MV!! :(

Luja. 13th March 2011 07:10 PM

So everyone, I was at Taylor's concert last night and it was just wonderful. First I wanted to write a review but right now I feel pretty bad because I'm watching the news again and Japan's situation is horrible... I will write the setlist down, though, for anyone who's interested. (Don't know if it differs from the setlist in Asia and the coming concerts in America).

# Sparks Fly
# Mine
# The Story of Us
# Back to December
# Better Than Revenge
-costume change-
# Speak Now
# Fearless - at a smaller stage opposite to the main stage
# Fifteen - at a smaller stage opposite to the main stage
# You Belong With Me - at a smaller stage opposite to the main stage
# Dear John
-costume change-
# Enchanted
# Long Live
-encore-
# Love Story

Aditmi Krisnasaki ~II~ 17th March 2011 03:09 PM

OMG.. that's a very short setlist IMO...

Luja. 17th March 2011 07:45 PM

^ well, it was her very first concert in Germany and the stage was pretty cool and also she talked a lot with us. :)
you can see a bit of it here (video not taken by me):

Plus I have to admit... I am not sure if I forgot a song between "Enchanted" and "Long Live"... really not sure. But the screen clips were really cool, too!
Oh, and she went through the crowd during "Speak Now" & "You Belong With Me" and I got to touch her hand.:heart I saw in earlier concert videos that she does this, but I didn't expect her to do it in Germany as well :D

Well, anyone interested in a more detailed report about the concert?

TITANIC 11th October 2011 11:00 PM

WOMAN OF THE YEAR
http://www.billboard.com/photos/styl...ar-617-409.jpg

Taylor Swift, the four-time Grammy winner and biggest selling albums artist in any genre for the past 12 months, has been chosen to receive the coveted Woman of the Year Award at the 2011 Billboard Women in Music event on Dec. 2 in New York City.

The 21-year-old singer-songwriter is the youngest artist to ever receive the honor, and it comes on the heels of earning several 2011 Billboard Music Awards, among them Top Country Album for the five-time platinum selling "Speak Now."

Swift has spent the past year on the Speak Now World Tour in support of her third album, which debuted last October atop the Billboard 200, selling over a million copies in its first week. All 14 tracks on the country-pop juggernaut were composed by Swift, and she made Hot 100 history by charting 11 songs off the album in a single week.

The Pennsylvania native is used to breaking chart records and currently holds another Hot 100 record for most top 10 debuts, with seven. Her self-titled debut, released in 2006, holds the honor of longest-running album in Billboard 200 since 2000.

She followed that up in 2008 with "Fearless," a critically acclaimed set that established her as a skilled songwriter and a procurer of hits, including "Love Story," "You Belong With Me" and "White Horse." Swift's "Fearless" is the longest-running No. 1 album by a female country artist in 200 history. Not surprisingly, the 6-times platinum "Fearless" is the most awarded album in country music history and her overall worldwide sales now exceed 20 million albums and 40 million song downloads. Again, she's only 21.

"Taylor has shown the power of good songwriting with music that has transcended genres, and we're thrilled to recognize all of her successes over the past year by honoring her with the Billboard Woman of the Year Award," says Bill Werde, Billboard's Editorial Director. "At the young age of 21, Taylor has already made a major impact on music and has been an incredible role model for aspiring singers/songwriters and young women everywhere. I look forward to watching her career continue to flourish in the years to come."

She is currently nominated for six 2011 CMA Awards including Entertainer of the Year, and is readying the November release of the CD/DVD and CD/Blu-ray sets of her Speak Now World Tour.

Swift is a dedicated and prolific philanthropist as well, and has lent her time and efforts to raise money for causes ranging from clean water to literacy to disaster relief. She personally donated $1 million to to charities in the past year alone.

Billboard's annual Women in Music Event, now in its sixth year, celebrates the most powerful and talented women in the music business, coinciding with the publication of Billboard's Women in Music Power Players list. This year's event will be taking place on Friday, Dec. 2 at Capitale in New York City. Last year's honor went to Black Eyed Peas singer, Fergie.

I was never a huge fan of Taylor, but I loved "You belong with me". Her new song is dustbin fodder, though. Same old thing. The album is gonna be another compilation of songs about people who dumped her and stuff. You gotta give her credit where it's due, though. Her last album was written completely by her.

This thread is so old! lmao

So guys what are your thoughts on Reputation?

ayumi_croatia 12th November 2017 08:19 PM

I'm not a big fan of it...there are some good songs on it (New Year's Day, Delicate, Getaway Car) but it'd not as good as 1989 or Red.

hud 12th November 2017 09:52 PM

not this thread being this old lmao! you can even see the Speak Now~Red~1989 eras passing by in the last page! :laugh

while I'm not a Taylor fan, I really enjoy some of her music and as a pop music fan I dislike 1989 aside from some tracks like Wildest Dreams and New Romantics.

now reputation gave me what I wanted. it's like a dark version of her last album. such an improvement for me. some tracks can be a little overproduced (I Did Something Bad is an example, but it is a good track nonetheless) but I feel like she really wanted new things only and it's amazing how she did it imo.

my favorites are End Game, Delicate, Look What You Made Me Do, King of My Heart and Dancing with Our Hands Tied. the latter is such a gem on her discography, I really want it as a single, even if she just makes a video for it a la Style and pays it dust after. I just want some visuals for it! :luv2

I really like This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things :D It's so funny and catchy :D

I've grown to LOVE reputation! At first listen I only liked some of the singles, but it didn't really hit me. Then I gave it some more time, and can honestly say it's truly one of ther best works! It's just so different from anything else she has ever done that it took time to get used to it. But like someone else already mentioned, Dancing With Our Hands Tied IS a career highlight for sure, and for me, the best song in rep, among Call It What You Want.
