Meeting an (Ayu) fan
 

Hey guys,
I want to share a experience from yesterday which is quite funny.
Well, yesterday I went with my mom and my aunt swimming, you know everythong was going fine and suddenly this girl from GREENPEACE appeared.
She just was collecting some signatures, and I think GREENPEACE is a very good thing, so I gave her my signature and my personal data and when it came up to my e-mail address (the same like my nickname) she asked if I like Manga and Anime and I told her that I do.
And then she suddenly asked me if I listen to Japanese Music and I told her that I love ayu and if she also knows her because that girl was more kind of a Visu and I'm not on this trip. She loved AnCafe, but who cares she only had good words about Ayu and she said that she loves 'evolution' and that Ayu's PV's are the best in Japan.

So, it seemed that she didn't has so much notion but it's OK, it was the third time that I met someone in my town who knows Ayu.

There once was a boy from the Phillipines in my former school who know Ayu and I even gave the 'BLUE BIRD' single as a birthday present to him.
And the other time my mom went into a boutique which I also know, and there is an Asian girl working, I think she's Chinese but I'm not sure.
And this Chinese told my mom that a friend of hers also adores Ayu.
You know, my mom really loves me and so she also loves Ayu and is always fascinated when I watch anything from Ayu and she comes to my room.

Haha, so I just wanted to tell that short stories because it's quite funny where you can meet an Ayu fan.

That's why I also love my mom because she's so interested in Ayu and I can tell her about anything (for instance the 10th Anniversary thing, that that was a big thing) and she listens talks with me about Ayu

You guys are really lucky. My mom doesn't have any feeling with Ayu. So, I just kept my lovely Ayu for myself. My friends and family also have no feeling about Ayu. They just knew I love Ayu but they don't care about it. Sometimes they make fun of Ayu. I get mad. But then I think, it's not a problem if I'm the only Ayu's fan in my place. It could be very nice :D

Aww, my Mom and Sisters are the same! I've had so many times where I've caught them watching the DVD of the PVs and making ofs from Secret. (because that's my families favourite Ayu album X3) A lot of my friends love Ayu too.

I wish I could meet more Ayu fans where I live though~

I have met an Ayu fan colleague at workplace before, but we were not very close. It so happens when she overheard me playing Ayu's songs a couple of times over the pc and hence came to know that I like Ayu. She told me her lyrics were meaningful and said Ayu is very cute~~

Sadly none of my close friends like Ayu, and there are only a mere one or two who listens to a few songs of hers and yah.

I am the only devoted Ayu fan in my family. My sis likes some of her songs and that's all..Sometimes they get irritated when I blast them with Ayu songs..haha.

my auntie n cousins usually have the "woahh ~" expression everytime we watch an ayu dvd ~
my cousins likes ayu's Who... , Voyage and dearest , my auntie likes the next level album she even thinks that the usb is super cool ~ she said "i think someday i will become her fan because of u.." ^^
n my new friend in high school ~ we listen BoA's Eat You Up at school ~ one of my friend bring the CD n we just started the conversation of J-Pop n K-Pop ~ suddenly she said "ayu's MY ALL is an epic song" n i was very shocked :D (coz she dont have the 'feel' of a fan lol)
my dad also said that 'a museum' is epic ^^
n lot's of my friends love ayu ~~ :P

Haha~ I've never been to the Philippines just this boy was from the Philippines but is livin' here in my country.

It's very nice to hear that some of your families and friends like or even love Ayu, I think that's important for yourself because in West it's something very extraordinary to listen to J-Pop and not to English Music.

The only persons who are against this type of music are my daddy and my boyfriend. But dad only says that I should listen to my mother tongue's music, but he's OK with Ayu. My boyfriend makes always fun of me and Ayu, which I think is very stupid and it makes so furious (you can't imagine) because no one attacks Ayu but for the peace's sake I better shut up, so I'd quarrel with my boyfriend and I don't want to.

I haven't ever met an Ayu fan quite like me. XD

Wow! Awesome story! Because its America here...nobody really likes/cares about Ayu...:( Iunno...all of my relatives listen to American Pop music....

i almost forgot to say that my best friend is an ayu fan too ~
we started our friendship in 1998 just like ayu who started her career on that year ~

My mom is fascinated by Ayu too. She's always asking me about her and every time she walks by the computer (it's in the center of the house) and she sees my wallpapers she stops and says "Is that her? She's soooooo pretty!" And she'll actually stand there for a long time staring at Ayu pictures with me and asking if I have more pictures and asking if I can show her more performances, commenting while she watches them. (But the annoying part is she likes to brag to all my relatives about her weird daughter who obsesses over some glamorous pop star on the other side of the planet :headache)

And then when my dad sees my wallpapers he's all like :dumbfound

Also my brother hates anything I love just to be annoying, and my cousin obsesses over the Mirrorcle World PV.

wow thats very interesting and so lucky to know people who are into ayu, especially ur mom. my mom wasnt fascinated by her but instead 'tolerated' her lol. my sis and i use to sing a long to her songs, but now its just me. she left ayu for kpop ha. my husband.....he knows i <3 ayu but is pretty annoyed that i spend a lot on her. im the only huge fanatic here (that i know of) here in san diego. ive introduced ayu to all my friends in high school. but that was yrs ago. at least i know AHS ^^

I've actually met four Ayu fans that are here on AHS XD I've met Calico, KillTime111, Neo_Daydream, and HONEY_INSPIRE_19. I haven't met anyone else, but I am friends with some other people here as well =)

But, a couple of my friends in real life are Ayu fans... only one keeps up with her music (sometimes, through music sharing communities mostly), and others just listen to it whenever I give them some of her music, haha. My family really doesn't care about JPop, though.

I've never met a random Ayu fan, anywhere really here in the US. I know they exist though. Where are you?! xD

I've met a bunch of Japanese music fans, but unfortunately no one knows who Ayu is! They all like that hyper-anime crazy little girl singing very fast techno, if you know what I mean. xD
Or they like J-Rock (aka my sister).

My mom and dad don't like Ayu's music! Or any asian music. :/
But my best friend and I share crazy Ayu fandom... we are planning on filling our rooms with Ayu goods and going to Japan together and seeing a concert someday. :] Her mom is pretty interested in Ayu; she thinks Japan is very cool! ^_^

My mom doesn't like Ayu that much but I don't really talk about her. But my aunts and mom dismiss the idea of me going to her concert anytime soon.

My aunt doesn't like her because her merchandise costs so much. XD

My dad doesn't mind me blasting Ayu in his car even whenf the windows are open but my uncle hates Ayu. I was listening to NEXT LEVEL in the car while my dad was driving and he said 'turn that ****ing **** off'. Then he was like, who was that...that Miley Cyrus girl? I didn't speak to him the rest of the day.

I managed to convert my friend into a Ayu fan. She did an Ayu marathon with me weeks ago. You're a real good friend when you are willing to stay up from midnight on night to noon the morning listening to all of Ayu's songs.

*sigh* It must be nice to meet someone who likes Ayu... Everyone knows me to listen to "that weird Asian crap" (they don't typically mean "crap" ofensively). So I'd like die of joy if I met someone who listen to, or even just heard of, Ayu. :thud

But my mom does take interest in Ayu. I talk to her about Ayu and she listens and we can talk about Ayu, so that's good. :yes

My dad doesn't care that I play it in the car or whatever, but he doesn't really take interest in it. Then again, he's not much of a music person to begin with.

In the charity shop where i work, if i'm on the till i'll occasionally have a CD on (nothing beats blaring out some Jpop in a small british shop :D). Anywho, one day i had A Song for XX on in there, and one of the customers recognized it immediately ^^. Was definitely an interesting moment lol

I met an AHS member on the weekend at our anime convention AVCon.

She was wearing the 09 Team Message shirt and I told her the shirt was awesome. She then saw my Staff badge and said she'd seen me around the forums xD

Probably the first person I've ever met who likes Ayu, let alone comes here! It was pretty cool to know there are fans in and around Adelaide after all! o__O;;

Mmm... I've met many fans in Japan. Not so many in the US. Some from Taiwan. My mum once was humming "Depend on you" while vacuuming, which I got a kick out of. Probably I listen to too much of Hamasaki's music on the stereo while at home on holiday.

Didn't met any Ayu fan in real life, just a J-Rocker when I started high school.

I've met a lot of Ayu fans... when I was in Bournemouth studing english I met some fans from Taiwan and Hong Kong and also my roomate was japanese so she knew Ayu but wasn't her fan ^^

Now I'm studing a degree at the university about Asia and there's a few (almost 10 or so) that know Ayu and like her music (though I'm the only hard core fan of Ayu there xDD) But also with this 10 people another 30 or so LOVE j-pop or k-pop, KAT TUN, arashi, NEWS, namie, koda, utada, mika nakashima.... that's great because I can talk about j-music with them ^^

Also my all time friends from secundary school are j-pop fans, and 3 were BIG Ayu fans, even though now they prefer others before Ayu they keep listening to Ayu and are interested in what she's doing at the moment ^^

Also, I know a lot of people from my region, Catalonia, I met in forums and are Ayu fans and j-pop fans... and in Barcelona one time in a year theres like a "meeting" about manga, there's a lot of shops with merchandising, manga, music, people make cosplay, and it's a place where is easy to meet j-pop fans....

and last, my mom is almost an Ayu fan XDDD She wants to be in an Ayu concert someday, she says "you have made me listen to Ayu a lot, now I want to go to a concert!" xddd I had Ayu's CD's in our car and she listened to them even when I wasn't on the car... if I put a song, for example JEWEL she knows the melody of it, and before momentum starts she is singing momentum's melody XDDD and moreover, she love Jun Matumoto because she saw with me Hana Yori Dango and she loved it!! she has "Love so Sweet" as a message ring tone, and she had Jewel chorus as calling ring tone XDDD She's great!!

Ahhhh, my friend and I both love Ayu, and so does my aunt!

I'm working on my little brother, and so far I think I've got him :) He wandered into my room the other day, and I was surprised by this conversation:
Bro: Do you have any music videos on your iPod?
Me: Yeah, duh. Why?
Bro: Which ones?
Me: *sighs and begins naming music videos*
Bro: Can I wach the Ayumi Hamasaki ones?
Me: :OOOOO REALLY?!?! YES
Bro: O.o You have STEP you, right?
Me: YEAH C'MON WATCH WITH MEEEE~~~! :D :D :D *overjoyed that I've converted my little bro XD*

Also, my mom used to be like, indifferent to Ayu, but a week ago, I caught her with my iPod, and she was listening to Ayu :O Lol, she made an excuse...But she'll come around...eventually XD

I wish people in my school liked her, though...:(

There are a few people here that live kiiiiinda close to me. someone actually lives the next town over, but they rarely comment on here so I'm not gonna waste my time finding someone who i don't even know on here.

I'm sure I'll meet some ayu fans on here when i go to utada's concert in NYC on the 8th.
