What year did you start listening to her?
We have one of ayu why we can't have one of these for hikki?:D
I want to know ~What year did you start listening to hikki?~ The reason I have (explain how) in 3 options and not on all is because I want to know how you heard of her so early ^.^ and the other options you choose wether you want to explain or not Well (me) I have been a faithful fan since in 1999 (aww i was only 10) My uncle gave me FIRST LOVE just to show me what kind of music he liked He was only 15 when he started listening to her btw And he gave me DEEP RIVER on my 13th BDAY yay I have all of her japanese albums and singles and only have Exodus I'm still debating wether or not I want to buy TITO ok ~AHS What year did you start listening to Utada Hikaru?~ |
Started listening to her in 2007 bcos I was listening to ayu so much so I decided to look what other japanese stuff there is out there. |
2002, after hearing simple and clean on a kingdom hearts commercial lol
I was introduced to her in 2002, but I wasn't an avid listener. 2005 rolls around with KH2 and I loved Sanctuary and have been addicted since (and she's the reason I got into J-Music).
2007.
I heard the simple and clean remix and then listened to her singles collection and fell in love with Movin' on without you! And then I fell in love with Ultra Blue, Flavour of Life, etc.. :) |
3 years ago I believe
that was when I started my jpop music journey & she was 1 of the 1st few jpop acts I listened to as during that time I was completely lost & a total jpop noob so I just picked those female solo acts whom I have heard their name being mentioned respectively over & over again man that reminds me , I haven't listen to Utada's music for like FOREVER now T_T . Doesn't help that she takes SO long to release something new , be it a new Eng or Japanese single/album if this keeps up , ick , my interest towards her might fade away slowly but surely |
i guess 2007, first heard flavor of life on HYD

I think I first heard her in 2001, but I didn't actually start listening to more than one or two of her songs until... 2003 or 2004? And even then I didn't hear most of her songs until like... two years ago.
I'm a relatively new fan~
I heard her Kingdom Hearts stuff before when it came out, but I didn't really start listening to her until Ultra Blue came out and I was just blown away. I think that was 2006. |
hmm if im not wrong it was 2004 or something.
I listened to Ayu's music alot and never give attention to hikki then a day i tried her song.. my 1st song of hikki was sakura drops after that first love. i tried it altogether |
06 with Simple and Clean, at that time, it was one of me and my friends' signature songs to sing :tipsy
2005. I was in love with Hikari and then I found out about Passion
Whenever it was Kingdom first came out and I would always sing along with the commercials..lol
But i didn't know who she was until a couple years ago sadly, the only CD i have of her is TITO. |
A friend of mine burned some cds with jpop, I felt in love with Can You Keep a Secret?, started to search more about her, this friend burned cds with her first 3 albums and eventually I was totally in love with her because of Colors
This year, after I heard 'Come Back To Me' on last.fm

2005.. omg it's been that long :O
That's when I bought Exodus in a local store, since I was addicted to COLORS at the time, I just had to buy this album when I saw it :P Just because it was hers. haha I'm glad I did :D What an amazing album. And the albums that followed it were ever better (except TITO). What an amazing artist, I'm a big fan! :) |
2007! But chose 2008 by mistake :headache
well, kingdom hearts came out in 2002, so basically since then. i just saw a CM for the game one day and loved the song playing (simple and clean) so since then i listened to her. but i took a bit of a break after 2006, so i got back into utada during 2007.
I believe 2006? Sounds right because of Keep Tryin'
2009
At the end of 2005 I think. My friend sent me two DISTANCE (the song) remixes and Kettobase! and I loved them all. Especially DISTANCE's PLANITb remix (*___*). Of course I have also heard Simple & Clean before as well but I became a fan in 2005. I've been a fan for four years now. :)
wow cool the majority heard of her either 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2007
In 2002, I heard Simple and Clean in the commercial for Kingdom Hearts and fell so in love with it. Then I bought the game just to see who sang the song (yeah, I wasn't very internet savy back then.) Once I had her name I downloaded a bunch of songs, SAKURA Drops, COLORS, traveling, ect... and was like "Whoa." when they were in Japanese, but I still fell in love with her anyway and ended up buy in the COLORS single as soon as it came out.
I first heard of her by early-2004, when I saw a copy of DEEP RIVER in a music store... but began listening around mid-2005
2005.
I read about her "Exodus" album in a UK magazine, downloaded it, loved it, then got all her Japanese stuff, and then I expanded to more Japanese music, and well here I am. :P |
2004~
WHen i go to music store, it was my first time buying japanese artists music, and don't know it was hikki~ |
2006? (not sure of the year.) I bought kingdom hearts in 2002-2003 (don't remember) and I loved the song to freaking pieces. But common sense didn't hit me to look up who the artist was. So I didn't really start listening to her till Just before she released her Ultra Blue album. It was the first album I bought by her. ^^.
First song I ever learned the full lyrics to by her was colors. (which I was really suprised when I found out simple and clean was on the b side of the single) It was also the first japanese song I ever really listened to (not counting the ending jpop songs at the end of animes I watched which I didn't pay attention to once the episode was over) It was soo hard singing along. its easy now. but never speaking a word of japanese till you decide to sing a song in that language is impossible. lol it was fun. Sooo! I would loooove to say I was a true fan since 2002 early in her career. but I can't cause I didn't look her up till 2006 or so. Actually mabye I can say that. although it was one song I did enjoy it alot. |
Around 2007 with Flavor of Life ( :P ). I still love that song!
at 2000 when i was 5 y.o XD
Utada is my First Love lol ~ |
2003 for me. I heard Simple and Clean and really liked it. In 2004 I bought Exodus and became a huge fan <3.
2007
2002 :yes right when the first KH came out and i heard simple and clean <3
I'm not 100% sure if it was 2006 or 2007 but I think it was 2006. The first song i heard was Boku wa Kuma XD
ahhaha boku wa kuma kuma kuma kuma
bonjour je m'appelle kuma:laugh i felt like killing myself when i heard that song |
^ Same here. -.-'
I think it was around 2000 before I cared to pay attention to her... |
I loved First Love since it first came out ... so ever since then I liked her.
2006 I think..
2004 I think
The first time I ever heard a Utada Hikaru song was when I played Kingdom Hearts in 2002, but I didn't start actually listening to her music until 2004 when Exodus came out. My friend burned me a copy of it and I listened to it non-stop. She was the first Japanese artist I ever was a fan of. I think she introduced a lot of Americans and Europeans to Japanese music.
I think it was 2003. I didn't like her much that time, she slowly grew on me.
2003, discovered her from Kingdom Hearts. :D
2007 I believe it was...My friend used to play her music a lot back in '06, but it took me awhile to get into her R&B stuff.
2002. Kingdom Hearts started it all and I've been a fan ever since. I jumped into the world of Asian music because of Hikki. :yes
hard to believe it was so long ago. First Love was the very first japanese song I ever heard. Must have been in 1999 or 2000.
2002, very typical I think, I expected to see more votes for that year lol. Naturally, as soon as I started the greatest game ever, Kingdom Hearts, I fell in love with the song playing, even more so when I heard the regular version upon the game's ending.
To those who know me well, the rest is History. She opened me up to a whole new world of music, though I listened to just her for a while, then I started listening to other Japanese artists. |
2004... same time as Ayumi.
needless to say, i like ayumi better... hehe |
2012...
I think it was 2006 through Kindgom Hearts:luv2
