She did get the #1 for a week then. To be honest I really thought her streak will be broken but I'm glad it wasn't because Sunrise/Sunset deserves this position. :)

Aaaaa, I hope her sales and charting will be a little steady now! D: Well, I think this single is getting exactly what it deserves: decent sales, but nothing spectacular. Because what is on this single is really good (and I liked both PVs, even if they aren't her best). But this single...kinda seems like it's missing something, doesn't it? I thought the mega-mash-up-whatever mix would make it better, but... I guess I was expecting a little more from this single is all. (And the covers.... I actually like them, but they don't completely fit with the songs. :headache)
Overall, though, I like this single better than glitter/fated and especially BLUE BIRD.....but not more than fairyland, of course. :luv2

Overall I enjoyed the single :) I'm not really saddened by the numbers because I really loved the single. I loved both songs and bought my copy. Sure it's not the days of 300k but those days are long gone and not just for Ayu. Everythings digital now a days. Not many people buy CDs anymore.

And as far as popularity, Ayu's fine in that department. If not she wouldn't be having Arena Tours and they wouldn't be sold out.

80,000 so far.... so it's unlikely to reach 100,000 right?

I would HOPE that this single would pass 100,000 sales by the end of its run, sheesh.

Its pretty obvious that they do. For several years now she hasn't released on a day with any major competition. A lot of the top artists seem to avoid each others release dates though. Nowadays though it seems Ayu is having to start worrying about beating some of the moderate competition.

lol I like SMAP anyway, but I'm glad to see there's some "battle" of sales between them and ayu ^^ is fun

There is only a battle for this achievements between them.

ayu is the 4th best selling artist in japan in overall sales (and best selling female and solo artist in overall sales too) while they are not even on top 10-20. But I'm not sure about the 20. xD

Thinking about it ayu's overall total sales should be around 48,500,000...
I wonder when oricon will release an issue of the top 5 best selling artists again. Last time was 2007 but it was because of Mr. Children's album.

Also, dropping to 9th after new releases come out is not bad at all. For one thing, it's guaranteed that Ayu will probably be in top 5 again by the end of the week from climbing since other singles drop further than Ayu. Looking at the competition this week, I'm quite certain too.

The only questionable numbers are the asia sales numbers. :P Just because those warrant our suspicions doesn't mean the oricon numbers for Japanese sales are fake.

Well, due to oricon until 19th March 2007 ayu sold 45,528,000 Albums & Singles copies.
It excludes DVDs, non regular releases and such.
Since then ayu sold around 2,500,000 or 3,000,000 Albums & Singles copies so that's why I thought it might be around 48,500,000 now. XD

To be honest, I was never very high in hopes, thinking it would get to 100k. :\ But like everyone's saying, she continued her #1 so that's all that really matters! :yes

yup they just released their new single called Taiyo to Sabaku no Bara / Subeki Koto this week & it's holding steady at #2 for the past 2 days :P

The 6th episode's rating is the highest since the last episode and almost as high. ^^
Probably didn't too much for the single (it didn't help raising it to the top 2/3) but maybe slightly helped.

Well, T2M reached 100k eventually. Why should we be so pessimistic? I think S/S can do it. If I assume that it will sell above 2k each day for this week, hopefully, and then 1k a day for next week or so... that alone gives S/S 21k+ extra sales, which, adding onto the original 75k makes 96k in total by the end of next week. 4k left!!

Wow it went up to #8... maybe things will stabilize eventually.

EDIT: So TOKIO is the band with Nagase, haha. interesting.

I'm glad it looks like it will make it to 100K; I said it earlier, but it really looks like 100K is the new standard for a typical single. So many big name artists are only cracking at 100k, excluded of course boy bands and super big hit songs.

I guess ayu sells cause AVEX sold its soul to the devil so their "queen" can sell more lol cause this single does not deserve excellent sales after all. Still happy that she's going "okay" :yes

In reality though, it's doing both decent in sales and digitally so her japaneses fans and casual listeners liked the single (or at least Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~) at least more than kuu's 3 SPLASH.

It's not a secret that the japanese like a lot of times what some of us like less and the opposite. :)

well, the sales of sunrise/sunset however arent, im glad it will make 100k...and it IMO deserves being worst selling ayu single of this decade...(but i think it already sold more than t2m, right?)

In 2 weeks it sold 88,978.

Their sales might be close.

No single of ayu sold less than 100,000 since For My Dear... in 1998. XDD
poker face and For My Dear... are her only singles that sold less than 100,000.
If things will continue like this though soon the singles might sell less than 100,000. =\
