Did you ever get bored from your favourite Ayu songs?

My God..it happened...yesterday I was driving to my mom's house while listening some ayu songs..then came CAROLS.
I remember well the fall when that sweety song was released..I sung it million times, watched the PV everyday and collected every kind of performance.
When suddenly i had to skip the song...I was so bored of it taht I couldn't reach the final part. :thud
What's this? Did it ever happened to you?

DA1SUK1DAY01691 3rd September 2009 10:18 AM

Of course. That's what drove me to other artists, it's a vicious cycle.

For me, I couldn't listen to many of her songs for a while, since I used to listen to them so much. But now I've been able to complete her songs much more. I think taking a break is a great way to grow back to your favorite artist. Hahaha.

nanakopy87 3rd September 2009 10:24 AM

of course i will get bored...
but few months later,i'll fall in love with that song back

asmAyumi1992 3rd September 2009 11:01 AM

I often get bored too. Then, I stopped hear Ayu songs. I thought my love to Ayu was declining.

But after a week, I get bored for not hearing my favorite Ayu's songs. So, I started hear it again.

AyumiBest 3rd September 2009 11:05 AM

Yes, there was a time that I skipped YOU (my favorite song EVAR!) on my iPod. :( I took a break from Ayu eventually. haha

Crystal_Ageha 3rd September 2009 12:42 PM

I'm pretty sure this happens to everybody with every artist, at least once, yes? And considering Ayu is my favourite artist, I listen to her a lot; it's easy to get sick of my favourite songs of hers that I often have on repeat. But with Ayumi, unlike other artists, I usually love the song I was completely sick of within a few weeks of taking a break from it, hah. So it's all good. :)

yep! i agree. if i just take a break from it, i'll usually love it again when i hear it after not hearing it after a while. the more i've overplayed it, the longer the break i think i need, lol.

but there are some of my favorites that i can just never get tired of no matter how many times i listen. those songs are really special :)

SURREAL__RAINBOW 3rd September 2009 01:25 PM

Yeah

happened with CAROLS to me too, as well with GAME, about you, Free & Easy, Endless Sorrow, uuff xD soo many more that I haven't listened for soo long but I used to love them soo much ^^

C+R+E+AYUMI 3rd September 2009 02:20 PM

SURREAL we have the problem with the same songs!!

NintendoHTF1242 3rd September 2009 02:26 PM

LOVE 'n' HATE. Used to be my favorite from NEXT LEVEL and I loved it. But I noticed it was so annoying and repetitive that I got bored of it. So I don't listen to it anymore.

xLuna&1LOVE 3rd September 2009 03:24 PM

Yeah! I know exactly what you are feelin'!

I've got the same thing here with 1 LOVE, JEWEL and GREEN

yah same thing i do also

waterballoon 3rd September 2009 04:30 PM

lol omg today I skipped Days today... though it was my favorite. But I'm kinda occupied by Hata Motohiro, Tohoshinki and Kuu these days... that I don't even feel like listening to Ayu. It's a break then, I guess.

aloopy 3rd September 2009 05:16 PM

yes.

in fact, i'm on an ayu break right now.. ever since next level got released :x
and i only listened to the sunrise/sunset single like 2 times and got bored already.

i'm having a hard time enjoying her music right now. i think it's because my music taste has changed somewhat.
i really wonder when i start enjoying her music again.

but besides all that, she still remains in my top 5 favorite artists, and i really hope that i will fall in love with her next single.

Ayumi27 3rd September 2009 05:46 PM

yeah, all the time!
Specially with Trauma, SEASONS, M, evolution, my name's WOMEN & Marionette

ImpactBreaker 3rd September 2009 06:04 PM

It's the limbic's system fault LOL Once a beautiful song cycles through its circuits, intense emotions are evoked while memory is being created from it. Once the brain gets massively printed by memorizing the song, the auditory stimillus will take shorter pathways and you become too familiriazed with that song, so it won't really cycle with the emotional circuits as much, since it will have its own shortcut pathways already LOL :laugh Of course this is just a crazy hypothesis. I wish I could understand more about this phenomenon and could do research about this fantastic happening. If men were able to create something that would be able to dessensitize the brain so that you'd be able to enjoy things you got sick but used to love so much back in the day, it really would be something interesting! :yes

freedreamer 3rd September 2009 06:21 PM

She's still my fav...but yea. I guess the inevitable has happened for me Lol.

This actually... reminds me of how people get "sick" of loving their partners... lol.

Kazeyomi 3rd September 2009 06:57 PM

Yep.
Years ago I was obsessed with Voyage. I listen to it 50 times at day (and make crazy my dad 'LJUBA SHUT THAT ***' LOL) but now I'm bored and I listen Voyage few times.
Even with CAROLS, Dolls, Will, alterna.. and other songs that I was obessed with them.

But I still love Ayu after all :D I'm not in love anymore with some of her songs, just this.

Namie♡TOP SECRET 3rd September 2009 07:48 PM

Ayu was my ULTIMATE fav, yet now Kuu's taken over cos of 'JUICY', 'Ima sugu hoshii' & 'SHAKE IT' PVs. :lech

rakeru 3rd September 2009 08:44 PM

i purposely don't listen to my favorite songs very much so i will never get tired of them. :P

yuki_unmei 3rd September 2009 09:19 PM

yea i get tired of some songs sometimes, but Ayu has so many songs that there's plenty to listen to until i feel like listening to my favorites again :P

emi♡ 3rd September 2009 09:28 PM

Yes, but because I listened to them to death for like 2 years lol

I still love them, and listening to them makes me feel nostalgic...but I'd rather listen to something else atm.

LOL. Impact, only you would think of that. :P I'll have to look that up, though. It sounds really interesting. :yes

It's happened to me a few times. About two years ago Ayu was pretty much my life force (in the sense that I was going through an extremely difficult time and listening to her was what was keeping me going), and I ONLY listened to her. I think by the time GUILTY came out I was so sick of her. I still loved her, but the spark was gone. So I started listening to other artists more. I still love her and listen to her a lot more than during that "down" period (and in fact, I've had a few bouts of listening to new favorite songs of hers on repeat for weeks), but it's never been the same as two years ago. :shrug

neuteka 3rd September 2009 11:43 PM

She comes and goes... I listen to at least one song from her every day, but sometimes she's just like meh, and sometimes I am super in love with her songs. Today is a day that I'm in love~ :heart even though I get bored of her sometimes, I think she will remain my favorite singer for awhile.

Ingles porfa

Rainbow141 4th September 2009 12:21 AM

Yeah, all the time. It happens with plenty of other Japanese artists and other, non-Asia musical groups. Sometimes I switch from Japanese music to English. :D One of the main reasons for my deep dive into Ayu's works.

But yeah, right now I'm back to Japanese music again - mainly Ayu. But I've gotten sick of some favorites, and some I just don't like anymore - Real me, Because of You, About You. But the main song I'm tired of - which I know I'll go back to - is Boys & Girls. @_@ It's just kinda...meh. Hard to explain (as always).

Crystal_Ageha 4th September 2009 03:26 AM

^ Is there anybody that isn't sick of Boys & Girls by now? XD But you know, I have recently found a new love for that song, actually. It was never one of my favourites, but listening to it the other day....it really does sound refreshing, the original, after hearing so MANY remixes of it, combined with how tiring it gets to hear Ayu screaming it live, lol...

It's funny, so many of the songs people listed (Real me, 1 LOVE, Trauma, etc.) were also at one point some of my favourites, but hearing them too much completely wore me down on them, I guess. I have yet to fully like them again. :( Maybe there are just certain songs that people can easily get sick of? And still others, that are easy to want to forget about after a certain period of listening to them? Sucks. >_<'

Chibi_Venus 4th September 2009 03:48 AM

It's happened to me before, but not that much. I believe it's just a phase that I go through of not being in the mood to listen to Ayu's music. I never really went through a stage of not liking her. I just would be in the mood for something else. :)

Picaflor 7/4 4th September 2009 04:19 AM

Yeah. If I listen to something too much. Is this love?
One of the first ayumi songs I ever heard. and now I don't like it. I listened to that song so many times, that I literally got sick of it. I don't like it any more. Haven't heard it in years.

Same thing happened with utada's "flavor of life". Damn did I love that song. I played it so much I just after a while had to stop listening.

pommy48 4th September 2009 04:21 AM

I've been skipping most ayu songs in my ipod...so guess i am tired of her...but i still listen to some songs~

nanakopy87 4th September 2009 04:50 AM

hmm,i thought i'm the only one feel tired with her songs...i've stop listening for 1 week ...was listening to SPEED-SPEEDLAND :D
but ayu is still my favourite FEMAL artiste...
everyone need to rest....even student need school holidays and working adults need to take their annual leaves :D

AyUta 4th September 2009 06:24 AM

Well, not with me and Kuu. I used to love talkin' 2 myself, but I don't like it anymore.

That happened to me after my music-listening back in '06. XD (haha, I sound like I'm recalling something from decades ago XD) I was really into Lindsay Lohan music, music from Grey's Anatomy (back then I loved any song they played), and I just listened to the songs hundreds of times (literally - my play count was so high it was scary O_O) and they just fizzled out. Listening to them now reminds me of that year, and it wasn't a great year anyhow. =T

I've learned to play favorites in moderation now. XDD

Midori-chan 4th September 2009 02:37 PM

Mhm, no, not really.

I LOVE to listen to all of Ayu's songs, but it happens sometimes that I find a different song by another artists and then I would listen to this one for days, then skip back to Ayu or some other singer, but not because I'm bored, only because I found another great song.

I don't think, that I could ever get bored by one of Ayu's songs (or by songs from other artists I love and adore!!)!

I agree with you all people, i get bored with HEAVEN (D: OMG my favourite ayu song EVER) but now i only listen to it 2 or 3 times a week so I could enjoy it every time.

I think it's a good idea to change the songs once a week or a month. When i'm with my MP3 player and a song is finishing i'm playing the first seconds of the next song in my mind LOL so changing the order and putting in & off some songs would be a good idea to not get bored.

y_nathz 4th September 2009 03:15 PM

well i skipped dome songs too if it doesnt fit my mood
i think its stupid to listen songs like greatful days when ur so so sad ~
i ever skipped her for a day full of tohoshinki, 2NE1, or JRock day :P

Melodie 7th November 2010 01:59 AM

Yeah, songs such as GREEN, BALLAD, LOVE 'n' HATE, SCAR. I'd still list them as my favourites, but I don't listen to them so much anymore. They all have a crazy amount of plays on my iTunes though.
