New song "BALLAD", is it a ballad?
 

Ok, this is more a poll more than a question, i was wondering about this some time ago, don't you think that the name of the song of ayu's new single "ballad" is too obvious? I personally think that ayu is trying to hide something with this title, so maybe is a rockish song....

What do you think? Ballad or not?

well.. in the description in her official site it says that it is a double A side single "of two ballad to decorate the winter" literally...

so I think that the options for You were... and BALLAD are sweet ballada (days), sad ballad (HEAVEN), emotional/dark ballad (walking proud/criminal/free&easy...)

Why would she name a rock (or electronic, upbeat, etc.) song BALLAD...? Unless it was like Memorial Address, which is a rock ballad or course but you're answering your own question, no ( :P )?

Me too! :) It may not be the most creative, and maybe alan just used it, but it still sounds nice, in my opinion.

I'm starting to get used to BALLAD as a title. I wasn't too sure about the title before, but now, it just kind of seems like something Ayu would do after all. And as I've said before, I didn't know alan had a song named BALLAD, so it was all new to me.

I hope it's at least a rock ballad... Or something that makes it stand out. Because if it's just a regular old ballad, I think I might be very disappointed.

If it's a Christmas themed ballad, I won't mind because I LOVE Christmas. Which is probably why I love Days more than anything xD;

Hm... I consider a "regular" ballade something with mostly only piano or orchestral music and in general is pretty slow. Days, to me, is a straight up pop ballade, what with all the jingly sounds and keyboard, and the slightly upbeat tempo. Sunset is pretty regular to me, too.

My idea of regular is pretty personal, not something everyone would agree with. In my opinion, ballads like Sunset, LOVE ~destiny~, For My Dear and Secret are regular because nothing about them stands out to me. While ballads like JEWEL, while only showcasing a piano and Ayu's voice, stand out a great deal. And of course there are the epic ballads like Together When..., HANABI ~episode II~ which are... well... epic xD; and ballads like HANABI which are kind of pop ballad'ish and themed ballads like Days, No way to say and momentum (winter themed). Ayu has all kinds of ballads and does them very well and I just hope BALLAD isn't regular.

i see. i think most of the ones you listed i feel differently about. Definitely not JEWEL. I consider that pop ballade, too, since it has quite a few effects. But teddy bear... I dunno, actually. I guess it's closer to "regular" than anything else. It's pretty fast, though, so maybe that's a pop ballade as well. I also don't think of too many of Ayumi's ballades as "regular." (I think of them usually as pop, obviously, hah.) She's just not a regular ballade type of artist. Which I guess is why I like her ballades so much. Pop/upbeat ballades are much more interesting than "regular" or traditional piano ballades.

Technically, "ballad" is usually closer to referring to what we're talking about when we say ballad. But either way, they can both be a poem or song, and I also like how "ballade" looks, so yeah. XP

And I think we'll all eventually warm up to the title. :yes C'mon guys, it makes it sounds like such a sweet little song!! ^_^

I personally don't mind "BALLAD" as a title. There are tons of things you can do with that as a title, it doesn't necessarily have to allude to the fact that the song is a ballad, and that's why she named it that.

There's probably another reason.

I remember Madonna's "Love Song" from the Like a Prayer album. I was expecting to actually be a love song but it turned out to be totally the opposite (the lyrics were something like "Are you wasting my time? Are you just being kind? Oh no baby, my love isn't blind"). I was like ":(" when I first listened to it :roflmao

Ballad to me already sounds like the typical boring ballads we've been hearing lately. Hopefully you were will be a little more darker and rockish vibe to it.

At first I thought she was going to fool us all (but...that wouldn't be fooling, because it seems other people thought so too lol) and make it a rock-ish song, but then I saw the description... Well, I think it's a cute name anyway :) It's just so...Ayu XD
