Nice thread. It's cool to see all these similar outfits and such. (I just realised - honestly being completely unbiased here - Ayu usually looks a lot better, lol. :O The only ones I don't think she looks better in are the GUILTY dress and that.....weird, brown snakeskin looking thing, hah.)

Thanks a lot for making this thread. That purple dress that Ayu wore...is that Mika Nakashima that also wore it? She looks nice in it, too. Everyone else that wore it...bleh. I just think it's the ways they decided to wear it made it look not so flattering.
And I actually love Ayu's dress from the GUILTY covers. Her style of dress is better than the runway style. I'm still looking at that Rhianna picture and wondering if she's going to pop out of that dress. xD |
i remember watching true blood and seeing a lady from it in a similar outfit that ayu wore. it's not exactly the same but it does look similar to me :shrug

After seeing these photos she actually does recycle a lot. But when your clothes are worth... well quite a lot, I wouldn't be surprised that she'd want to wear them again. Especially certain outfits which cannot be worn everyday like gowns, sparkly concert items and extravagant accessories. It's nice to know too that she doesn't throw them away or put them somewhere and forget about them :)

Well we all know she's a diva to the core but she's also got this down-to-earth mentality. I like that she's smart enough to recycle and reinvent her wardrobe :)

Similarity Arena Tour 02 & Madonna's Drowned World Tour?
Do u guys ever watch Madonna's Drowned world tour?
First of all guys, Arena Tour 02 is my first Ayu's DVD... It's been years ago and I really amazed with all those "creative" ideas... Tartar skirts with ayu fighting with the dancers, japanese concept (hair, make up, and outfits), flying dancers, and all.. But...recently... JUST recently, I watch Drowned World tour 2001 of Madonna... Okay... Maybe this will explain all.... Madonna-Sky Fits Heaven in Drowned World Tour http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-ekIM_z6yM It is... awfully too similar for me... and then, remember shippo chain that being a huge trend ayu does? I'm not saying that ayu is a copycat or something... But anyone realize this similarity? |
Inspired by, copied—it's a fine line. :laugh Anyways, I would be surprised if none of those ideas were taken/borrowed/stolen from Madge, seeing how Ayu is such a big fan of her.

Of course, the whole AT2002 was a remake of DWT, a darker show than Dome Tour, practically identical costumes, flying dancers, even some choreographies with resemblance (like Impressive Instant-Naturally), etc, etc... and that has been discussed multiple times ever since staged
That's way I always disliked AT2002, specially compared to the much more original ST2002 Yet, in Ayu's "defense", Madonna's 2006 disco ball is somehow similar to the Dome Tour one, and she used the stage crucifixion months before as well |
ayu depended on madonna's works since she started I believe.
AVEX let their artists copy/use/borrow/get inspired by MANY successful western stars ;) not only ayumi, but I've seen similarities between other j-pop artists and western artists. Even when Startin' came out, we all knew that the pv was "inspired" in britney's Toxic videoclip xD Anyway... I believe that ayu still doing her own thing after all. The empathy between her and her fans is what makes her special :) As well as her music and lyrics <3 |

Madonna (although i hate her!!) it's a model of style in the whole world.
She inspires most of the pop contemporary artists. She, in 2007, was the firs one to re-introduce the disco in actual pop... and then artists like Ayu, Shakira and many many others produced disco-inspired releases |
i believe she inspired with that tour...its really an old discussion...
we all know that ayu is big fans of madonna, if i didn't wrong, in 2006/2007 she even fly to america to watch madonna concert...and she honest with that...so we know that she inspired by madonna in a lot of way |
