I was originally going to put this in the general music chat but I realized asians are way more heavy when it comes to singles than the rest of the world so I threw it hear, and it's easier to talk about.

Are there any B, C, or even D sides that you preffer or A sides? I realized a few of my own when thinking about it

Now you don't have to put them into math equations like I did, but it's easier to see it that way. Like I said, off the top of my brain, I can't think of any b-sided american songs I like over their a-side counterparts. let alone any bsides at all.

But isn't alterna an A-side? fairyland c/w alterna was a double A-SIDE single. ayu doesn't have many b-sides, though generally it can be difficult to determine whether a song is a b-side or not, though I can surely say a song is an A-SIDE if:

-it's featured on an album

AND

-has a PV

However, the other possibilities are just really difficult to determine precisely.

it's difficult to tell. I mean, Will was a bside, and it's still on the (m)u album. ayu releases instrumentals even for bsides to make it seem like an a-side. X_X I can't tell. either way....

and there are plenty of acceptions to those rules. the songs on A, H, Unite, and audience are all a-sides and none of them have pvs, and are all on albums.

btw those people saying Sparkle, Sparkle is an a-side cuz its mentioned in the title: Rule/Sparkle. alterna is a b-side cuz it is not mentioned. Songs like alterna, GAME, and Beautiful Fighters that have PVs and are still on albums are still b-sides because they are not in the title (fairyland, INSPIRE, BLUE BIRD)

omg this is easy! at least when it comes to arashi, for me....:P

"Todai Jikake no Umbrella" and "Super Fresh" are 300% better than the a-side "My Girl" (although i do love that song too, it's just that the two b-sides are the standout tracks of the single, since they sound so different than arashi's recent songs :D)

and i also thought of one more.....

school food punishment - "fiction nonfiction" is also SO MUCH better than the a-side "sea-through communication" (although again, i do love that song too, lol, the b-side just simply rocks :cool)

(i didn't do the < or > symbols because even until today, they still confuse me :laugh)

It doesn't since it is a A-side on a triple A-side, but I agree.

^lol I just really love that song. the music video is so fun and fast paced. ^^. tanpopo is nice I guess. but a little too *background noise on the radio while I'm on the beach with my boyfriend relaxing in the sun with a few beers*

B-sides are indeed hard to determine. As someone mentioned earlier, Ayu has very few true b-sides because true b-sides are usually excluded from the album. However, in cases like the HEAVEN single, I consider a song like Will to be a b-side simply because it's not featured in the title of the single, which means it's not a double a-side.

Then she's got the two odd balls that I don't know what to make of... fairyland was released as "fairyland c/w alterna" and INSPIRE was released as "INSPIRE c/w GAME." I'm pretty sure those are the only two instances she ever did that. "Coupled with--" What exactly does that mean? Double a-side or a-side and b-side that is for some reason featured in the title? XD I personally feel that they are double a-sides.

Kaizokusen is HILARIOUS funny & it's probably Yusuke's most whack song & let alone A-side to date xD

the PV's pure win 8D & he will be releasing his debut album Ano .. Konnan Dekimashita Kedo. on 16th Dec & I can't wait <3

in fact Kaizokusen will be getting an album mix called Kaizokusen ~1-bannin no Sen'in Ver. xD
