[translation + romaji] You were...

Please credit me if you share this somewhere else~

translation
The lovers that pass me are walking shoulder to shoulder
Cold pierces my body, because you are not here

Because I was in love, I was shining so brightly
That I even forgot the seasons and needed nothing else but you

*I thought you would be my last person
I wanted my last love to be with you
All alone under such a vast night sky
What in the world am I supposed to think?

By whose side are you smiling right now?
I wonder how much time will pass until my sorrow will end

**The continuation of that dream you once talked about
That phrase you always used
It would be easier if I could forget them all, wouldn’t it?
But I don’t want to forget a single one

The moment I was enveloped by silence
Far too kind and warm memories fell over me

*repeat
**repeat

But I don’t want to forget a single one

aura~ 4th December 2009 08:26 PM

I think there's some mistakes... for the romaji... I listen to the song and I hear other things:

ima dare no tonari de egao misete iru no kara da nante
nee dore hotto tohigata attara
kurushimi wa owaru no ka na

**itsuka hanashite ta yume no tsuzuki mo
itsumo iki te ita ano kuchiguse mo
subete wasurerareta ra raku da ne
dakedo hitotsu mo wasuretakunai

seijaku ni tsutsumareta shunkan ni
osotte kuru
yasashikute atataka sugiru
omoete ta

not complaining or anything ^^ I'm just trying to help... cause there's no official lyrics things can be misunderstood, right? :)

jon_the_d 4th December 2009 08:37 PM

Love this song, and the lyrics!!!

Thanks so much!!

tenshi no hane 4th December 2009 09:52 PM

you're welcome everyone ^-^ personally I don't really like the lyrics, they're not really original imo.

walking.proud: thanks for the effort, but those changes are either non-japanese words or words that don't fit into the context ;D
(also the reason that it sounds like "ta atta ra" is because in most Japanese songs a vowel sounds longer if a double consonant follows it)

Rainbow141 4th December 2009 09:58 PM

Oh sweet, thanks for this tenshi! I was just talking about how we needed a full romaji and translation set. :yes

Mai82Go 4th December 2009 10:00 PM

Lyrics are always hard to translate and people interpret them in different ways. You're right they are not really that original but somehow they touch my heart. Can't help it.

Same with Curtain Call. The lyrics are so simple, but somehow there is something special in them.

I think You were... has a sad atmosphere and I kind of like that at the moment. There is not too much positive stuff in there like "I'll keep on walking" or so. Mmmhh...it always depends in which mood I am when a new Ayu Song arrives and then I decide if I like the lyrics or not.

Hydeki 4th December 2009 10:04 PM

Thank you, I love it ^^

Yoake 4th December 2009 11:38 PM

thanks a lot^^
It's really beautiful

yeah, I know they may not be japanese words XD it's just what I listen... (but in "tsudzuki", this "d" can't be there alone, it's not something I hear or not, it's just incorrect ^^) and maybe someone who knows japanese can find the correct word there...

thanks anyway, even if those words aren't correct or if they are, I like your translation and it's helpful ^^ I wanted to know what ayu was singing ^^

Kazeyomi 5th December 2009 12:55 AM

I like those lyrics :yes
Ok maybe they're not so original but they are better than before :3

thanks for sharing :heart

jon_the_d 5th December 2009 01:07 AM

just noticed,
the romaji section is missing the final line...no big deal, just thought I'd point it out. ;)

Miduhyo 5th December 2009 01:18 AM

dzu is a proper syllable in Japanese. It's signals the difference between づ (dzu) and ず (zu) in romaji, because they both sounds similar to 'zu'. (whether someone chooses to write it as 'dzu' or as 'zu' depends on which romaji system they're using. If you look at the romaji in the lyrics section at AHS, you'll also see both versions.)

oops xD thanks for pointing that out

zyoeru 5th December 2009 11:27 AM

Yeah, tenshi is right, dzu is correct, although I prefer the romanisation du even if zu is truer to pronunciation. :P
Thank you for the translation!

I hope you'll also do BALLAD when we get it! :D

Uemarasan 7th December 2009 04:50 PM

People who think that something is "original" are people who just haven't lived long enough :P

Ayu's ballad lyrics are usually better than her others. She really understands the ways of the human heart.

theSKYBLUETIES 8th December 2009 07:47 AM

wow. such beautiful lyrics. thanks for sharing!
