Tragedy for Maki Goto
 

I thought this deserved more attention than being buried in the hello project thread.

Yesterday, Maki Goto's mother, Goto Tokiko died at age 55. Her death is under investigation as to whether it was an accident or suicide - the media though has been leaning towards suicide.

Apparently Maki was home when her mother came home late at night drunk. They exchanged a few words and her mother went up to the third floor. Maki then heard a loud noise, went upstairs to the third floor and found the window open and her mother's body on the ground outside. She did not die instantly, but an hour later at the hospital.

What makes this already extremely traumatic situation even worse is that Maki and her mother were extremely close. (Maki wrote the song "with" about her) Maki's father has already passed away as well in a mountain climbing accident and her brother is in prison.

I hope she has the strength to pull through this. How this might effect her Avex debut is unknown although Max has already stated that he will support her through this.

edit, more info: More info has come out that the window was located in the bedroom of Goto Yuki - the brother that is in prison, and according to the local bar owner, she had been drinking at the pub saying she wanted to see her son, wanted to die, etc. Sounds like it probably was suicide and the alcohol impaired her judgement.

Oh my...that's so terrible. I hope Maki pulls through this.

maki family is really complicated...i don't know what's wrong with her life...its always all about tragedy and crime...

I don't listen to Maki but I read the news on the net & it's very unfortunate/sad

Poor Maki. If this postpones her debut plans I'm sure many of us would understand. It's so sad the things Maki has had to deal with and now dealing with the death of her mother who she was also really close too is probably too painful for word to even describe.

OMG I heard about this a few days ago. This whole thing is so awful :weep I can't imagine what it would be like to actually find my mother dying like that...:(

And the way it happened ( I think it's because she wanted to be with her husband and forget about her son in prison :-( ) is not nice to overcome at all.

The funeral was held and many MM members attended: Abe, Nakazawa, Yasuda, Iida, Yaguchi, Ishikawa, Tsuji, Yoshizawa, Fujimoto, Ogawa, Takahashi, and Niigaki. Lots of people don't like that Tsuji wore a ribbon and makeup to the funeral. (even though by Tsuji's standards she looked quite toned down.)

Also, Chisa of Girl Next Door attended the funeral. Maybe her and Maki have become friends?
