1st Official MUCC Thread
MUCC |
MUCC is awesome! Miya is a genius.
|
OMG. MUCC used to be one of my very favourite bands.... But the past two albums, every since they started working with Ken, all their music sounds very poppy and...well, Larc-en-Ciel-ish. Which I don't like. :( They're no longer heavy, awesome rock..... I still love their older music though. (Tatsurou's my *****. XD) I just gave up on the new stuff, lol. :X
|
Actually, that's what I love the most about MUCC. The fact that they are incredibly versatile. They don't need to stick to a certain style because they do so many so well. Even their new albums have harder songs, just not as heavy as before but I think its because their albums have themes.
I personally want them to stay away from the synthesizers because Tatsurou has a phenomenal voice and I too question their Ken collaborations and think Miya is more than qualified to produce for them but hey.. StrawbariSnowAyumi I don't believe they're considered Visual Kei , rather its Angura Kei. |
Quote:
and i personally adored Kyuutai. and their older stuff i love very much too i wait for a new album now although im not so sure i liked Diorama and Freesia a whole lot |
hai, I'm a fan!
too pity that I could not go to their concert I hope they come again |
^ Ooooohh, I knoooww!! When they played in New York, I begged my husband to try and get off work, but it didn't happen. And since I was without a driver's license..... No MUCC concert for me. :cry (Same thing happened with Hikki's concert. D: )
|
^ theyre both too far away. my parents would never let me go anyway. maybe if hikki wouldve come southeast US maybe
its frustrating its sad. one of my friends got snowed in and couldnt go to hikki concert after buying tickets and all. but really i wanna see mucc |
Man, I actually had another really good chance to see a MUCC concert, too. They were in Philadelphia (I'm in Pennsylvania, so each of these concerts was only a few hours away).... I may have been able to get my grandma to drive me to that one, hah. Because that was when I was living with her, and not my husband. But I felt bad, because I wanted him to go with me, because he's, like, twenty times more a fan than I am. MUCC was his favourite rock band, and top three bands in general. (They've also dropped a few places off his list now, though, since their music has gotten too poppy, hah. :\) Besides, he would have been the only who could have gone with me, unless my grandma decided to attend (she actually probably would be interested >__>).............and that would be even more weird and awkward than going alone, lol! XD
|
^oh yeah. their music has changed. as i became a fan during kyuutai period i never noticed until i listened to their older stuff (which i LOVE)
but i still like the newer stuff. except the new new stuff. Freesia is ok but i cant eve nremember what Diorama sounds like lol. all jrock bands change ive been listening to old music of jrock bands and have noticed the change in my favs as i have fallen i love with them again. |
They went in a completely other direction starting with FUZZ... Which, I really like that song, and a few others off of Shion. But now their music is starting to lack what made them awesome, and I don't think the last album is as good as it should be because MUCC doesn't work nearly as well with the type of music they're trying to do now.. The only song I liked off of Kyuutai is AGEHA, and I don't like the new singles at all. :( I'll still follow them, but I wish they'd put out another Isho or Waga, Arubeki Basho! Heavy rock and metal is what they do best, of course. It just fits, and they're so perfect like that. Or, if they must be so poppy, at least make it amazing, like Horizont. *_* Because, even though that song isn't very MUCC-ish, it still has the awesome flare a lot of their older stuff had. (They really rock all of Gokusai, even though it isn't the usually heavy stuff. :O)
|
^ well yeah. i personally liked it. AGEHA was my fav. but i loved several songs from kyuutai like houkou, hide & seek, and sora to ito. but its kinda my style somewhat. but some like Oz not so much. Shion i like less.
i want another Rojiura boku to kimi e i like that stuffs a lots |
Ageha, to me, is the worst song on Kyuutai! I have too many favourites to list but Ryuusei is at the very top.
The main reason I attended Jrock revolution was to see them and they were BEYOND AWESOME! Totally worth the 16 hours wait in line. I really wanted to try to see them the last time they were in New York but I couldnt make it. Again, I do agree that their heavier stuff is stellar, but to me, to long as they maintain their unique sound and stay away from synthesizers and Ken, I am happy. |
That's the problem, though. It seems like they are heading deeper and deeper into synthesis, pop, and even autotune ( DDDDD: ). And I see Ken sticking around for a while..... Whatever. I'll always end up giving their new stuff a chance, no matter what direction it goes, hah.
|
*sigh* how did i not realize earlier. maybe i should get it

I bought the firstLive Chronicles and none of the others. I think their best released tours wrere the Houyoku and the Natsu tour.
|
I still haven't seen Natsu no Tour, yet I've always heard how awesome it is.
|
You'll love it. The Zuta Zuta and Bouzenjishitsu performances are epic. I havent bought it but I think Im going to give in.
|
Ooh, MUCC! They're not my favorite Jrock band but I'm REALLY impressed by their style. Their "heavy" sound can be so ferocious and raw. I like that they're going a bit softer. No artist can keep the same pace for years without growing a little stale.
|
Ok, not a pretty active thread, a pity...
MUCC is my favourite J-Rock group, I love them and they're releasing a new single on 9th June. Yakusoku [Regular Edition] http://i49.tinypic.com/xcw22p.jpg 1. [CD] Yakusoku 2. PV I just adore Tatsuro's voice! |
The single is a bit cheesy and poppy for me ... I always loved Mucc for their edgier songs, like Ageha and FUZZ.
|
Please don't turn into an anime band, MUCC.......
|
^i know right
but still. thank you Corvina. :D i remember hearing the preview of this song. in whole its fine. like not stunningly amazing but still good. and Tatsurou's voice is just too perfect all of the time. i think the song will grow on me |
MUCC have become so 'meh' to me anymore :/ THere's nothing really compelling about the new song.
|
^ Same here. Too poppy. Too plain. Too 'heard that before'. :\
I also love Tatsurou's voice, though. And no matter where MUCC goes, I always will, hah. It's so sexy. :lech And I love how it stands out. Some rock singers, they don't have that special somthin'. But I can pick Tatsurou's voice out of a crowd. It's really different to me. He's a pretty good singer, too, despite the style he sings. |
^ I actually adored Kyuutai and most of its songs. . .but afterwards it was like ughhhh.. why are my fav jrock bands being disappointing T.T i still love them though and i don think its a "bad" song. i just wont be listening to it much. (*sighs* at least Nightmare is still doing well)
|
The song is just unmemorable, just like Freesia. But theyve done it before around the Gokusai era with mediocre singles (except for Ryuusei) then blew our minds with an amazing album. I just keep telling myself...this is Miya...he wrote Ryuusei so he can do better.
Tatsurou does have a phenomenal voice. I remeber teh first time I heard Kagayaku sekai...amazing you could tell he had been taking lessons. In the Utada thread they were saying that MUCC didn't have good enough songs for Utada to ever cover when StrawbariSnowAyumi brought it up. Yeah, Utada please try to sing Yasashi Kioku or Gekkou with half of Tatsurou's emotional delivery. |
^i dont think im well liked in the Utada thread XD. . .but yeah i mean like really. with the emotion in Tatsurou's voice. im usually speechless. hes just amazing. (and can make me cry frankly).
and ur right. he can do better. which is where my frustration comes from with the last singles. this is definitely no Ryuusei |
Thats because the extent of their criticism of Utada is that she is lazy and nothing beyond that.
We just have to wait an see. Kyuutai had some gems too like Hide and seek, just not as many gems as the other albums had despite the fact that Fuyu and Kagerou are more or less the same song. I really want something powerful and intense like that. |
I didn't know Tatsurou had so many fans. I actually dislike his voice and it kinda makes me like some of their songs less. Go figure.
|
Quote:
|
^yeah i kinda want to know this too. .
plus, what dont u like about it?, nackar (not saying its a crime to dislike it or anything) |
You don't often hear people say they don't like his voice lol. Idk, I think he's a fantastic vocalist.
|
Quote:
For me personally, his voice is too wavery, I prefer full, strong voices. He has a lot of vibrato too, which I'm not necessarily a fan of. But it's hard to explain. Some people like a voice, other's don't. |
Quote:
ur not a fan of ayu's vibrato are u either. i love that in Tatsurous voice as to me it always comes out so strong and beautiful. and in the moments when it seems like hes screaming, its still beautiful and full of emotion. whatever point hes trying ot get acros. he gets it across very well. |
Quote:
That doesn't mean I'm not a fan of either one's music though ^^ |
hmm. i could figure that :)
its like that for me and what is basically the opposite of MUCC (but like my fav band behind them) An Cafe. the vocalist his voice is not at first pleasant to the ear. but somehow i love him and the bands music anywayz of course |
Haha Tatsurou's and Ayu's voices are on two different planets. I dislike her vibrato as well, but I don't hear Tatsurou's to be honest. I would consider him to have a v. strong voice.
Nackar_91, I don't know if you've heard anything by Merry but Gaara has a vibrato thats even worse than Ayu's. |
Quote:
Yes, I've heared Gaara's voice. And yup, even less of a fan of his voice, hahaha. I'm actually not a fan of any VK vocalist's voice, so if I had to pick, it'd still be Tatsurou. It's not like I strongly DISlike his voice. Just not a fan ^^" |
^lol. thats like a stab to the heart when u mention the v-kei voices. now im a fan of oshare-kei and i could understand that. may i mention Aoi from Ayabie (theyve changed so soooo much). but his voice is really pretty. or i was noticing the gazette thread. u dont like Ruki's voice.
edit: and Kamijo who is currently with Versailles? u dont like any of there voices lol? |
Quote:
Anyway, this isn't a thread about what vocalists I like, this is a thread about Mucc! |
^haha okay. i just get quite curious sometimes. (btw dramatic still isnt doing it for me. them going major was just ugh. proud of them though)
anyway. back to the muccness. since ur right. this is the MUCC thread. ^___~ Yakusoku is still growing on me. but its still just another song for now. |
I'm pretty curious about the B-sides though. They seriously have some of the most amazing B-sides ever. Coupling Best was the first album I ever got from them XD
|
They do have INCREDIBLE Bsides; my favourites are Shadan, Kokoro iro, kataribe no uta, Gatsu no Sakyuu, the amazing Hakujitsu and Akanezora. I wish they had put in some bonus tracks on Coupling other than that horrible Libra remix. Something from Antique maybe. That way I wouldn't have had to pay 30$ just for Shadan. They really know how to milk their fans and I think its crap.

^ :D thank you
|
^^ Thanks for sharing.
Look like everybody's starting to get a Twitter. XD Oh!! And as Tatsurou says in his newest message, it is MUCC Day!! :P (Well, it is in Japan and such. The 9th. But it's still the 8th where I am. ^^') |
^i know. i just got one yesterday (thanks to a friend really insisting). . .i was going to use it to finally try and tweet ayu. now ill follow mucc (sort of)
and lol. its still the 8th here too. thats cool though XD |
A MUCC day, how cool is that, lol.
I do like the new song, but it's really nothing new from them and I'm also one of the fans who like their older "harder" stuff better. Kuchiki no Tou is still by far my favourite album, it turned me into such a big fan! :heart And Tatsuro's voice is one of the soothest and charming voices I've ever heard, seriously, it's amazing. |
^ Kuchiki no Tou is an awesome~ album--ISHO!!!!!!!! :luv2
And you guys didn't know about MUCC Day? :D Well, for those of you wondering about it, MUCC Day has been around since almost the start of their career, I believe. June 9th was chosen because, in Japanese, "mukku" combines the readings for six (mu) and nine (ku), so you get June 9th! :) I'm not sure completely about what exactly, but a few special things have happened on MUCC Day. For example, I know their first single, Shoufu/Hai, was released on this day. |
^sincerely i had no clue it existed. and i felt so silly when u initially said it because i realized the whole 69 thing XD
|
I didn't know that as well. XD
Thanks for clearing that up! |
|
^ .........Wut??? XD (Oh, and he's a little over 180cm/6ft, right? That man is taaall. >.>)
|
^^LOL :laugh
^hes 6 feet???!!!!! (how sexy). i never wouldve guessed. i rarely see their heights. the only other one i know thats six feet is Ruka from Nightmare. |
|
^ 182 centimetres is almost 72 inches, which is right under 6 foot. ^^'
But yeah. I think he looks definitely that tall. He's so....lanky, ah hah. And when you see him with the rest of the band, he's almost a head taller. >.>' |
He's the only member I'm not taller than :laugh
SOmeone mentioned KnT a few posts up and oh, how I adore that album :heart |
Quote:
|
Hahaha~ they are pure love. Wtf is he doing?! And its so heavy XD
|
He's really tall. I walked past him at JRR (bastard ignored me when I called out his name) but Im 5'7 or 5'8" and he was taller than I was.
|
Quote:
thats really cool though |
Yeah. I also saw Miya watching the show from the closed off soundbox and he ignored me too. I guess they wanted to remain incognito cause it was very dimly lit.
But soemthing just occured to me; Despairs Ray and MUCC were the only 2 Japanese bands on the Taste of Chaos tour, right? My understanding is that the tour didnt come to Canada due to teh Japanese bands and since Despairs Ray is coming to Toronto in August I can safely assume that it was MUCC that couldn't get in?? Criminal record(s)? |
thats interesting. i never pay attention to those. as in how many went on the tour. but they (love <3) just went to canada then i could imagine it would be mucc
they have criminal records (oooh~ bad boys)? i really dont pay any attention to the personal details to this band since becoming a fan a year or 2 ago. someone please answer these questions |
Im just guessing that a previous infarction may have prevented them from coming to Canada. I don't know, maybe the visa work just takes too long to process and they didnt get it done in time. who knows. Im really hoping for the latter cause I would love to see them here in Canada.
|
^yeah that would suck if u cant see them. no need for them to come here for me while im bound with my parents. (cant i be 3 years older). . .like i hope they could. i never here about musicians being banned from countries (well not often) the last i heard of was the american was Chris Brown being banned from the UK.
what could mucc have done. lets hope it was visa so u can see them. ur a much better more appreciating fan that me |
|
^ thanks ;)
|
Not really liking this new style of theirs. I mean, I'm not one of those fans who are just looking for Zetsubou Part II or anything, but... they haven't really done anything to intrigue me since the singles prior to Kyuutai.

What a cheap looking cover. Shion and Kyuutai were pretty stylish, but this... : (
|
The mirrorballs are ridiculous no? and foreboding.... I HATE falling down but I loved the bside Tsuki no Yoru so I'm hoping the album wont be as horrible as the singles. Enough with the damn vocoder and synthesizers MUCC!
|
I haven't even DLed the single. Is Tsuki no Yoru comparable to anything else they've done?
|
Quote:
|
Quote:
So I was expecting more epic, but the only song so far that I can honestly say I like is Gareki no Tori... |
Quote:
|
okay...i like Falling down....but its not like epicly amazing. it will just have to grow on me
but i dont think ill be liking this new album much. i really want to like their new stuff but i cant and thats all their is too it. its calming really so i cna only liste nto most of it if im in one of those moods. its not a love thing though ugh T.T and i REALLY loved Kyuutai....i dont mind style change with Karma, but i just wish the quality of music was good. change all u want but make awesome music nevertheless ill be waiting for the next songs. :yes |
what do you guys think of new album?
I didn't notice that one song calls "I Am Computer" xDD |
Quote:
EDIT: LOL! Never mind, apparently I just missed it. I'm going to listen to it later < 3 |
Um...I just heard the album and I think I'm traumatized. I think I have to hear it again before I say that I totally hate it (just to be fair)...
|
^ I was kinda meh about Tsuki no Yoru, btw. Not bad, but I don't think I'd ever listen to it again.
I was expecting Karma to be absolute sh-crap, but I like it a lot better than Kyuutai. Like, that album is just so forgettable and mediocre to me. I Am Computer is my favourite for sure. 堕落 is horrendous D: Zero Shiki is boring, Chemical Parade Blue Day's pretty good, I like A. quite a bit, Polaris is pretty good too, Lion's good until the crappy chorus and the rest are kinda boring. I guess it coulda been worse, though. |
Really? I love Tsuki no Yoru. I spent 30 bucks on it! Its so pleasent and a million times than Isora, their venture into Kpop, lol.
I really have to relisten to it then I can really put a name to what I liked and didn't like. Apparently Tatsurou wrote alot of the tracks for this album, that maybe why its so abysmal... but I think no matter how many times I listen to it, Kyuutai will always be superior. |
堕落 sooooooo boring
I don't like it at all |
Ok here is my opinion, and after about 4 listens, the album is actually not that bad, even fun.
This is what I posted at Itai tegami, where most people seem to be very upset about the album; I love Zeroshiki, Chemical Parade Blue Day, Polaris and I Am Computer/ Lion could have been an amazing song up to chorus. Daraku was awful, other than Tatsurou's beautiful crooning in the middle of the song, all it did was make me pick on the English pronounciation and wonder how Shiina Ringo could have done the song better. I will give Tatsurou credit for writing lyrics that have depth and actually make sense. Hane was a step up from tsubasa and shiva but I really dislike these type of songs from MUCC. I don't know why they like to end alot of their albums with these kind of songs. The single tracks are still nothing special and I have to say that I can't tell the difference between the Karma versions and the original versions. Overall, the album's theme is very clear, and considerig the theme I can kind of understand the choice of musical style. Sometimes, the songs made me think of Ayu (Hane reminded me of virgin Road and A of As if... not a bad thing, but an interesting association) I love of MUCC's intense rock and metal flavoured songs, but I also love alot of their softer tracks and more than anything, I love their versatlity and I think this album still retains a bit of that MUCC touch in alot of songs like Zeroshiki, Polaris and Lion (minus the chorus, lol). I do wish they'd drop the vocoders and synthesizers but this is an album without awesome guitars or bass but its still enjoyable in its own way and tons of fun to sing along to most of the songs. |

A MUCC thread, nice !!!
Can you recommend me some singles? I love NIRVANA, and i want to try more of their music |
I just started getting back into MUCC since they've been my favorite band and I miss their music. I wish they would tour here T.T
I need to check in with their newer music. I was watching naruto and one of the endings was a MUCC song and I freaked out. I'm so behind the times. @adantatu: Rojiura boku to kimi e will probably always be one of my favorites. I'm honestly also a fan of their Kyuutai album stuff though I'm not that sure that other fans would agree on its quality. All of that is old though. They've changed through time. I liked Mother, the one used in the naruto ending which was probably released around the time of Nirvana. |
Quote:
I think it's a good idea not only to listen to some singles but instead to their albums. If you love NIRVANA then try their newest album Shangri-la. I love that one, it's a really great album! Definetely one of the best albums of 2012. In any case I would recommend not only to listen to one or two albums of them, 'cos they are really diverese! |
Thank you :)
|
So, has someone already listened to their new album? What do you think?
Honestly, for me this band just can do no wrong. They are so fucking damn amazing! I mean, I'm VERY critical when it comes to my faves, but somehow I never disliked something MUCC did. |
I just downloaded it honestly but haven't heard it yet. I didnt like any of the a-sides this era, but I loved WaTer on the World's end single. I'm a little scared because I read that the album was non thematic and unfocused. I guess I will find out soon...
|
Although I don't think it's as good as Shangri-la (but this one was perfect, so it's almost impossible that the next one is also as good), I like it a lot and I don't think THE END OF THE WORLD is unfocused. To be honest I feel the complete opposite about it. It's just more "back to the roots" for a MUCC album and with way less electronic elements. So ENDER ENDER is definetly a stand out track. You also didn't liked this single? Maybe you will like the album version of the song more (I prefer the single version).
And atm I'm crying that I forgot to put the album on my mp3-player and can't listen to it on my way home. y____y lol |
Ok so I heard it, and I think its a step up from Shangri La because Shangri La had too many intolerable tracks and here only track I skip is Halo. I don't know if I love any song on The End as much as I love Arcadia or GG, but There are alot of good songs on this album. JAPANESE would've been perfect without the "haro I am Japanese" and 369 miroku would've been perfect without the stupid "woho". When will they stop with the English for god's sake?!?!?
It seems like the theme of this album, other than the word "end", is a musical style reminiscent of classical rock. Anyhow, I'm happy that it's not an album full of crap and I can't wait to buy it! |
Listened to the album almost a whole day.
And I think it is solid, I really like it! It does have a pretty strong theme and I like the clear rock style the songs have. (Actually it reminds me of the last Maximum the Hormone album) Definitely a step up again! |
I never got where all this criticism for MUCC's releases after "Kuchiki no Tou"/"Gokusai" was coming from. I for one am glad that they changed their style. I mean, 5 studio albums (or seven, when people liked them till "Gokusai") in the same depressing style were great, I love all of them. But at some point it would have been boring and repetitive.
For me they somehow changed the direction their music always had but without losing this special "MUCC Style" I'm so in love with. Anyway, I can't stop listening to the new album and "THE END OF THE WORLD" (the song) is a true masterpiece I think and it reminds me a lot of the "Kuchiki no Tou" MUCC. |

As long as Tatsurou's voice makes me melt and I love what music they have, I don't really mind styles.
