Any good current rock/punk/metal/alternative bands?

So for the past few months, I've started to get into rock music again. :yes

So I was wondering if anybody could suggest some bands for me. I would prefer them to be more current though.

I tried searching for any threads like this, but I got the error message.

Corvina 7th March 2010 05:29 PM

Volbeat!
They're my discovery of the past year.
A mixture between Metallica, Johnny Cash and Elvis. :laugh

Try Papa Roach(Last Resort, Blood, Getting Away with Murder), Fireflight(Unbreakable, The Love we had before, You Decide) or Pillar(For the Love of the Game, Frontline, Fireproof), 3 good bands

Ayumi27 7th March 2010 05:47 PM

Even though not that current, Alice in Chain has been producing great songs again lately, something of a comeback, you should check that

xLitax 7th March 2010 05:53 PM

^ I will. Nah, I just meant that not all the bands' songs are from the 70s or 80s. If they're still releasing music, then I consider that current. :D

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I know of Papa Roach and Pillar. I haven't heard a lot of their songs though, so I shall check out their songs.

I'm currently obsessed with Semi Precious Weapons. The leading man Justin Tranter is so amazing & they definitely know what rock music is all about. Very talented.

Some pretty interesting bands would be the Blood Brothers (they haven't been together for a while), Neon Blonde, Animal Collective and The Sound of Animals Fighting.

Like I said, they are pretty obscure, so I'm not sure if you'll like them. They've grown on me :yes

If you want some alternative that's different sounding, I'd recommend Phoenix and Vampire Weekend.

recently I've been addicted to "hare-brained unity". you could try them out. their music is very catchy. I will admit though, some of their stuff is a tad recycled. You might hear the same guitar and drums in a few songs.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've tried a few of the bands I haven't heard of that were suggested, and they're really good.

Picaflor 7/4 12th May 2010 10:16 PM

if you don't mind german rock, you could try OOMPH! and for being a rock band, they have a lot of remixes, and they are all good too hehe.

paper_doll 18th May 2010 09:50 PM

Saw 'em play last year and they were awesome and they just put out another album last month.

Alexisonfire are just all around really great, but their Watch Out! album is, imo, their best.

Found out about these guys not too long ago. Album's not out yet, but they're really promising.

I think Deftones were already suggested, but anyways... Easily one of my favourite bands ever. Their new album is pretty killer :yes

chloeM 24th May 2010 05:42 AM

@fantasma3c: Adam Lambert sings Glam Rock songs~

what about Tokio Hotel?

CHE.R.RY 6th June 2010 07:28 AM

I myself, really like Breaking Benjamin and A Day to Remember :D

Tony G 6th June 2010 09:50 AM

The Birthday Massacre. Their sound is synth-rock, but it might be what you are after. An awesome video clip doesn't hurt either.
