EUROVISION SONG CONTEST
OSLO 2010

Theme: Share the Moment

The national finals around Europe has wrapped up and the 2010 contest is taking shape.

After Alexander Rybak's victory in Moscow last year, this year's contest will take place in the Telenor Arena in Oslo, Norway!

39 countries will take part in the contest this year, with Georgia returning and Andorra, Czech Republic, Hungary and Montenegro withdrawing.

The voting system is the same as last year, with 50 percent televoting and 50 percent jury, only this year it will apply to the semi finals too, not just the final.

CZECHayu 13th March 2010 06:47 AM

ah okay, thank you for informations ^^

aloopy 13th March 2010 01:43 PM

Our song is absolutely ridiculous. So embarrassing lol

Aderianu 13th March 2010 02:16 PM

This year my country don't have any chance to win. I think our band can't pass even in first 10

Ayumi27 13th March 2010 02:54 PM

I didn't find many great songs in Eurovision lately, but still looking forward to watch it!

noisy_harmony 13th March 2010 03:00 PM

I'm shocked that this thread is made so early xD
Hmmm... Looking forward to it, but in my country people don't care about it. We choose the best song from national contest, though.

hpg23 13th March 2010 04:29 PM

Spain's entry this year is weird xD

I like the background music, tho the singer is horrible (his persona I mean, I just can't stand him, nor his curls D: ), and the lyrics ridiculous... but well xD

Corvina 13th March 2010 04:44 PM

It's funny, but we have a really strong artist and song this year. :laugh
For the first time ever I have high hopes that Germany is able to contend with the rest.
So I'm looking forward to it more than the last years!
It's just a pity that the song is in english not german.

tsuki 13th March 2010 05:18 PM

tonight it's the final for sweden... and I hope Eric Saade wins... I really like his 'MANBOY'
link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z4ll_DQPQs

zoomzoom 13th March 2010 07:12 PM

^Hoping for Eric Saade too! Or Ola or Pernilla. Alcazar was robbed. :grumpy

I know I say this every year, but this year.. man. There is practically NO good songs. I can probably count on one hand the amount I can bare listen to. The rest is just plain crappy. So if a country sends a mediocre song this year, they'll have a good shot at winning. I think if Sweden sends either of those 3 they have a great shot, otherwise my fav is currently Denmark and that's not cause I'm from there. I usually hate our entries.

If I had a penny for every time I've said that myself! :yes
I'm danish btw.

nanomi 13th March 2010 08:16 PM

My country, Finland's entry is beyond ridiculous. It makes me ashamed of my own country! :D

thinkingoutloud89 15th March 2010 03:51 PM

I hope Lena wins
she is so cute...I would marry her right away

fake_foxtail 15th March 2010 10:42 PM

I want to see the stage already :P

As always I want some country that has never won to win.

jpopfan018 17th March 2010 08:55 AM

Looking forward to the Eurovision finals... Last year one of the dancer for Alexander Rybak sent one of his shoe flying across the stage during the performance. Did anyone notice? This year the Asian-Pacific version of Eurovision will also be launched! =)

xLuna&1LOVE 20th March 2010 10:20 PM

Guys... you guys are really going to bully the Netherlands.. after you heard Sieneke's song..

Really. What's up? Well, we never win; so we don't care anymore.

emi♡ 21st March 2010 09:41 AM

^aww :(

this is so cool that you guys do this~ I should pay attention again...I havent really since a few years ago.

I wish the US could do something like this...but...yeah...lol It would be cool to have this huge contest with this huge conglomerate of countries and languages in it.

Same here.

zoomzoom 23rd March 2010 04:39 AM

All countries have now picked their songs, though Ukraine is currently a mess since they had to give up their song due to plagiarism and now have a week to fix it.

Anyway, the official music videos are starting to pop up from the different countries.

Switzerland

Bulgaria

Croatia

Cyprus

Moldova

Georgia

xLuna&1LOVE 23rd March 2010 08:48 AM

^Croatia is lovely ;D

PoetGirl 23rd March 2010 10:05 AM

Our (Croatian) is not so embarassing this year, but its still boring and forgetable.
But Im so happy its not embarassing!!!! Last year I couldnt even post a comment
in this thread lol.

DA1SUK1DAY01691 23rd March 2010 11:52 AM

I'm sorry, the UK entry is horrible. I thought they'd step up their game after finishing well with Jade last year, but it's so corny and gross. :O

Funny how most of the upbeat songs get videos early, the contest this year is pretty much dominated by ballads.

Besides being smaller in scale compared to the gigantic stage last year in Russia, the stage doesn't use LED screens at all. I'm pretty sure they've been used every year since 2004 or something, so that'll be a big change. They're gonna rely more on more old fashioned techniques like moving parts, lights and mirrors.

This :yes In the last years I didn't even watch the contest broadcast in TV because it was clear that we didn't had a chance :laugh
But with Lena I believe it's gonna be different. The song is very good!

Mirrorcle Monster 24th May 2010 02:24 PM

Spain won´t win,you can be sure about it

Mary Weather 24th May 2010 02:55 PM

Ah, this is great!! I needed to get caught up! Thank you!

powpowparn 24th May 2010 03:23 PM

Well...the UK has lost even before the contest has begun :laugh

The song is so rubbish. I don't understand why we made a big hoo-ha about getting Andrew Lloyd-Webber in to write a song last year and then we just go back to this. So funny XD

Mirai Noah 24th May 2010 05:23 PM

There are a lot of awesome songs this year! (There are some not so great ones too, but that's expected...)

aura~ 24th May 2010 05:38 PM

BAh... Eurovision is stupid nowadays, sorry... it has lost its purpose as people doesn't vote the song but the country... Last year was stil fair, everyone voted Norway so it was obvious that that was the most favourite song...

but anyway... Even if our song (Spain) was superb we would be in the last positions... we only have 2 neightbours... XDD

Our song is like a copy paste of Norway's winner song last year... with this fantasy, fairytale-like theme... ¬¬

I agree~ It's stupid nowadays and our song is kinda boring xD I don't like it... And it's a copy of Norway's song. Anyway, I think I'm gonna watch it 'cause it's so much fun watching how they sing stupid songs xD

Mirrorcle Monster 24th May 2010 05:46 PM

Our song is a sh--. and the singer is the most random ever, i preffered Pop Star Queen

That woman is not even a woman lol Daniel Diges is random, but Pop Star Queen... It was just an stupid way of promotion for a TV channel.

*Petit* 24th May 2010 06:53 PM

Frankly, I Know these songs probably aren't going to win and that they come off as "stupid catchy summer songs", but I really like both france's song and lituania's and I think they could easily become summer hits. So catchy and really makes you want to dance. ;) Also, if one of the criterias of Eurovision is to show of (local) culture, the french entry fultills this criteria as well showcasing the large caribbean french population for the first time in the competition. =D

Also the other version of the PV is so damn cute. =P makes me want to go back to the caribbean!!!! miaam!

On another note, I'm really happy I discovered this artist because french music usually bores me to death (=/) except for a few artists and even those don't really make any music you could dance to. =(=(

zellyx 24th May 2010 08:32 PM

Hey, American here!
Just started watching Eurovision; my friend is a German foreign exchange student... (:
I love Greece's and France's entry...
but disappointed in how many countries are doing English.. :(

EDIT:
I liked Armenia and Lithuania as well, but once again... English... ah...!

Calico 24th May 2010 09:05 PM

Out of the ones I watched, I really like Croatia! The others are kinda eh >>;

2Hurt 24th May 2010 11:02 PM

Can't wait to watch this together why my friend :D though... our song makes me feel ashamed for my country :no

Let-Go 25th May 2010 01:21 AM

UGH!!!
Spoiler:
Poland
didn't advance to the final!! :( :( That sucks!

zoomzoom 25th May 2010 10:47 PM

Really happy with the outcome of the first semi final, with the exception of Belarus, a ton of boring songs thrown out and most of the upbeat advanced. Yay! Was too nerve wrecking calling Albania and Iceland as the last two lol.

midorinousagi 26th May 2010 12:11 AM

top 5
estonia, france, germany, Serbia and Island.

kendelle 26th May 2010 02:29 AM

Thanks for this thread, I always love to watch the final but keep forgetting about all the semis and things that happen beforehand >_<''

I lurrrrrrve Alexander Rybak's song from 2009, I ordered in his CD through a CD store.....but it STILL hasn't arrived! ;_; Oh well, I'll keep waiting or get it online, I do have the songs already xD

I have lots of videos to watch xDD So does England's entry suck again this year? That's a shame, I thought that last year's entry was good, even if it was pretty corny... =\

XFER 26th May 2010 02:46 AM

In the recap at the end of the semi final, they showed clips of the already in the final countries, and I liked the UK clip :) And all of those in fact!

Ayumi27 26th May 2010 04:41 AM

Nice stage! I'm surely watching the final, even though most songs are terrible

aura~ 26th May 2010 12:45 PM

From the songs in the second semifinal I hope will go to the final:

Armenia, Israel, Croatia, Irland, Cyprus, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

I specialy like Israel, Cyprus, Croatia and Armenia... Armenia has the type of song that often likes in Eurovision I think XDD

And from the songs that are already on the Final... I like...

Belgium, France, Iceland, Portugal and... yep Spain too =D xDD

But overall there's no song I'd say is WOOOW! for me ^^ I hope it will win the best song and not the one who has more neighbours =D xDDD

I mean.. you really think our song last year deseved to be in 23/24 position?? ¬¬ I think Europe punished us for the year before when we chose Chikilikuatre LOL

Oh I did a translation of the spanish song if u want it ^^ I think eveyone in Eurovision should sing in their mother language and not always in english ¬¬ but well...

Something very small

Something very small,
something really tiny,
a white rose,
a caress, a sweet kiss and a forgiveness.

Something very small,
something really tiny,
a tender gesture,
a sight, a hug, a flower...

Something very small,
something really tiny,
a simple I love you
gently, fondly and passionately...

It's what I'm asking you my love,
my life is crumbling,
you have broke my heart.
Try to change soon,
time runs out, now for real.

Something very small

Something really tiny

Simple things that now you're not giving me,
that I'm asking you madly if you don't wanna end.

Something very small

In your hands you have the opportunity,
today you decide whether love me or broke my heart.

Something very small
something really beautiful,
a blowing hair that tangles around my hands in the heat.
You have got to understand
that are the small things that make it burn.
Now try to change,
the other things will be fixed later.

Something very small
Uo uo uo
Something really tiny

Simple things that now you're giving me,
that I love you madly and I will always love you.

you decided to love me and to not broke my heart,
to not broke my heart.

I did my best LOL

zoomzoom 27th May 2010 11:17 PM

Way too nerve wrecking with them calling Denmark last this time, but thank God they made it. I'm extremely surprised Sweden didn't make it though, first time ever they aren't in the final.

Lithuania
Armenia
Israel
Denmark
Switzerland
Sweden
Azerbaijan
Ukraine
Netherlands
Romania
Slovenia
Ireland
Bulgaria
Cyprus
Croatia
Georgia
Turkey

Surprisingly a nice outcome, though a bit sad not to see Sweden, Croatia and Switzerland. I hope The Netherlands finished last, damn.

fake_foxtail 28th May 2010 12:07 AM

My favorites out of all entries of this edition are Moldova, Slovakia, Israel, Ajerbaijan and Ukraine + many more. I didn't like Ukraine's song at first but damn.. that performance was really impressive.

I hope Safura will win but I'm pretty sure she's not going to.
Everybody says she's overrated but I don't see ANYONE overrating her. (except me :D)
I hope she gets rid of that glove, though.. :shakehead

Mirai Noah 28th May 2010 05:15 PM

Some of my favorites didn't make it to the final :( But some of them did! Of those who did make it to the final, my favorites are Azerbaijan, Moldova, Iceland, and Romania. I also like Norway. :)

wildconnetta 28th May 2010 05:46 PM

our entry is sh-- (uk) but it will watch anyway like i have done ever since I was 5

OyTony 28th May 2010 10:42 PM

We didn't make it ;____; I really liked our song this time...
Oh well go Serbia! XD

Raiu-Ayu 29th May 2010 01:11 AM

I can't wait to watch it tomorrow :D I always watch it every year while eating chinese food (a sort of little tradition we have :P)

I'm glad we got through this year (Ireland)

Chandrachan 29th May 2010 01:59 AM

^ good luck to Ireland too :D

I'm looking forward to it today :D

Yooku 29th May 2010 01:40 PM

I really liked Sweden's song and I wanted to see Anna in the final. :/

My current favorites are Israel, Azerbaijan (I don't like the lyrics but the song is kinda nice) and Ukraine.

Finland had a really crappy song this year. The performance was good but I wasn't surprised when I heard they didn't get to the final.

Maemi 29th May 2010 02:43 PM

LOL I can't believe that Serbia is in final . . .

Chandrachan 29th May 2010 04:56 PM

My fav song so far is Iceland :D

noisy_harmony 29th May 2010 07:43 PM

I'm kinda interested how high the quality level of songs will be this year. I couldn't watch the second semifinal (it wasn't broadcasted here because our song wasn't there), so I don't know what to expect ;)

fake_foxtail 29th May 2010 11:29 PM

OMG Congrats GERMANY!! :yatta

I started liking the song now! :D

zoomzoom 29th May 2010 11:31 PM

After all these years, Germany finally got it :D Not my fav, but at least not a slow song. Poor Iceland..

Mai82Go 29th May 2010 11:41 PM

Wow, Germany did it. Unbelievable, and I thought the other countries were really strong too. (What happened to UK though? That song was horrible.....)

I know I'm in the minority but I don't really like Satellite and you cannot escape Lena here in Germany and now it's going to be even harder. They already announced they will show specials tomorrow when Lenas plane is going to land here. Craziness.

*-_Ayu-fan_-* 29th May 2010 11:42 PM

yeahhh Germany has won !!!

Love, oh, love, I gotta tell you how I feel about you

Mai82Go 29th May 2010 11:58 PM

What I thought was really cool this year was that collective dancing. (Between the main show and the result announcements) It looked like the whole of Europe was doing para-para. So funny and cool.

Mai82Go 30th May 2010 12:45 AM

^Yep, those butterflies....what were they thinking? :no

Hey, Apricot Girl had at least 2 strong points. :innocent And a grandpa with a flute. :lech

Sakura_Genki 30th May 2010 01:35 AM

I really loved France. XD The song was fun and catchy and made me dance. I loved Belgium as well, and I have a crush on the artist who performed for Israel. He was gorgeous.

Congratulations Germany! I didn't really like Lena's song. Well I loved the beat of the song, but I just didn't like Lena's singing voice.

I'm still laughing that we come last. Our song was ridiculously cheesy.

Raiu-Ayu 30th May 2010 03:07 AM

Overall I loved the contest this year :D Shame we only got 25 points but what the hey lol

Turkey's song was awesome :P I loved that one :P I had to laugh tho when all of a sudden G-Dragon jumped on stage (anyone get it??) haha

And OMG WTF was up with the nutter during Spain's performance??? haha I don't know if every country gets the same camera angles but after he jumped off the stage the camera changed and we could see two guards pulling him away lulz

Chandrachan 30th May 2010 04:01 AM

Congrats to Germany - my fav song was Iceland followed by Turkey
UK came last - that was one cheesy song

powpowparn 30th May 2010 12:11 PM

Congrats to Germany! I voted for Belgium but looks like no one else in the UK did so my vote didn't turn into a point - boo! But at least they finished high ^_^

What the hell was up with Denmark's song though? That had The Police written all over it!

Next year I would like to see the UK enter a song that sounds like something we would actually listen to in the charts. Sending a song that sounded like an 80s b-side was a bad move -_-

Shirlaay 30th May 2010 05:13 PM

I liked Cyprus for some reason, thought it was cute :)
But I can't believe it came something like 21st :(

And I was also stunned by Belarus and the butterfly dresses, they looked awesome! But they ended up finishing 2nd last so boo.

I don't like Satellite and Lena, too.. I don't like how all Germans go crazy about her ~~"

Mari-chan 30th May 2010 07:30 PM

Yes... we won the Contest.
I also couldn't belive it.
I made a Eurovision-Evening with friends... and we all were cheering for every point for Germany. Normaly, we don't really get much Points.
Well.... for me, I also liked Iceland and Belgium!

Mai82Go 30th May 2010 07:30 PM

^^Yes, they are acting like she saved Germany from a deadly disease. She might be a nice person but that song and her style and that english are a turn off. Can't stand it and if you critizise her, it seems like you've comitted high treason against the royal family or something. Glad I'm not alone.

yea.. yesterday I was in a club but they showed the Song Contest first and everyone kept staring at the screen, their eyes were literally glued to it haha
and nobody but me cheered when a country but Germany won some points and they stared at me like "****** OFF Ò.ó"..

My two favorites, Norway (AMAZING song and gorgeous singer) and Cyprus ended so low, I feel cheated.

Still can't believe we (Belgium) did so well *for once* :laugh
Normally we always have a big show to choose songs for Eurovision, but it was the first year that a jury choose the artist. When he first performed on Belgian television everyone was negative about him and thought we would end last again.
LOL, everyone was really surprised when we passed the semi-final and even more when we got the points during the final :laugh Yesterday in a Belgian talkshow he said that this was his revenge :laugh "I even had it in me during the first show, but people didn't believe in me. Now I got my revenge by ending at the 6th place." :yes Oh, and his dad promised that he would stop smoking if his son got in the top 5 or even when he got 6th :laugh Now he has to stop, but he now denies that he said he would stop even when his son got the 6th place :roflmao

Funny, I'm one of the ones here who relly love Lena's song "Satellite" and yeah, I'm more than surprised and so happy that she made it. She's individual and a little bit crazy and I think it's great that she has that much success, cause she's just different than the rest.
It's also a bit too much hype for me here now, she didn't do that much...but oh well, after all the negative news it's a nice, refreshing change.
And you all have to admit that's its a clever move to emphasize her own german accent so much while singing that she made it to her individual style everyone recognizes.

^It sounded nothing like a German accent though, way more like cockney or something.

Yeah, but you can hear her german accent when she speaks, so I think it's just a coincidence if there are similarities with existing english accents.^^
But I'm not an expert, so who knows?

typical gay people who have to go out of the line everytime. tzzz

I actually love Lena for what she is but always thought Satalite is missing the Ooomph! to make it special (like most of the songs on her album, which si pretty generic) and thought she would and up on place 6 or so. I´m quite impressed she won and its great for Germany. last time was just to far away. But i hate that they want Lena to try it again next year XD
