Rock'n'Roll Circus - album information and covers [XII]
Thanks to hachiroku for being so helpful and organizing everything! Kudos to hachiroku and Misa-chan! They're angels! Please try to maintain this post if you are the first person to post the thread when the other reaches 500!
------------------------------- Song update (bolded are confirmed full songs): 01.THE introduction (introduction with a feel of a LIVE OPENING TRACK) 02.Microphone (powerful and intense rock track about her musical career) 03.count down (rock ballad mentioning her "left side"/ear issues) 04.Sunset ~LOVE is ALL~ (midtempo nostalgic summer love ballad) 05.BALLAD (Asian/Chinese drama inspired ballad) 06.Last Links (hopeful song that encourages to live with love) 07.montage (Dark orchestral interlude that leads into Don't look back) 08.Don't look back (midtempo Arabian/Indian sitar infused track) 09.Jump! (digital rock interlude with Ayu saying "JUMP" a lot) 10.Lady Dynamite (impacting rock track for women) 11.Sexy little things (upbeat cutelectroswing) 12.Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~ (summer upbeat song with shades of electronic beats) 13.meaning of Love (great love song of overflowing love) 14.You were... (winter love ballad about a last love) 15.RED LINE ~for TA~ [album version] (upbeat ballad? We don't know the changes here) ------------------------------ oji-i-san notified us of the new songs coming out on mu-mo at midnight on March 31st in Japan. (Jump!, THE introduction, Last Links, meaning of Love, montage) All of the new songs are finally out except for RED LINE which will come later from mu-mo. ------------------------------ tokyoxjapanxfan and oji-i-san notified us of 4 new songs' release via chaku uta on 3/24! count down is a rock ballad, Sexy little things is a swing pop number (which has an electro tinge to it apparently), and Lady Dynamite is a rock song that makes a big impact. Lyrics were translated here by maikaru: http://www.ahsforum.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=444 The order is count down, Lady Dynamite, and Sexy little things. ---------------------------------------- Regarding first press goods, basically - A poster comes with a purchase of the CD+DVD / CD only, and there's a separate poster for AT09's DVD. The photobook only comes with the CD+DVD and the CD+DVD in the box set. There is a special access card with a serial number for a new song not in the album that can only be used by TeamAyu members in all copies of the album. There are also various things like a lucky draw, but they're basically making this release as confusing as possible when it comes to first press goods. ---------------------------------------- http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/9804/boxay.png The SPECIAL LIMITED BOX. ----------------------------------------------- http://i42.tinypic.com/25qtzfc.png From appears: Pop-star ayumi hamasaki (31) has announced that 12 self-penned lyric-sheets have been enclosed within 12 out of approximately 400,000 initial pressing copies of her new album [Rock’n’Roll Circus] (released on 14 April). She has stated that this is a surprise from herself to the buyer. She got the idea of distributing presents, and she enclosed the lyric-cards in order to directly convey the world of music. She used her favourite pen in order to write on A4 size paper. With regard to the 12/400,000 probability of obtaining one of these rare items, hamasaki has said, “I put a lot of emotion into writing these, so I hope they will be treasured by whomever receives them.” Moreover a new song not included on the album, unconfirmed as to whether or not it will be released, will be a free chaku-uta present to fan club members who purchase the album. Spangle bag that will probably have an Ayu logo on it: Some other facts to point out: - photobook comes with the CD+DVD version's first press - photobook is 36 pages - photobook will ALSO come with the CD+DVD version in the limited box - 10 new tracks and 14 total tracks are subject to change - CD only has no first press at the moment, but we have yet to find out more. - The amount of interludes is not known yet, but people still seem to be saying that there will be 4 with no reasoning other than what has been done for NEXT LEVEL and GUILTY... at the moment though, no one knows anything. - Sexy little things will be on the album, it just has not been listed in the tracklist since the songs that have currently airing CMs (Microphone, Don't look back) are the only tracks that Japan knows of right now. We know of it from ViVi, but that's about it... there's no reason for it to be listed in the tracklist at the moment. ----------------------- Links to other threads: New Album 14 April! W00T! This album is awesome :D
|
Aw, crap, I forgot to put the release date....... Is that a big deal?? ^.^' (I ****ed up the thread, lol. :weep)
I'll just add it in bold to the top of the post.. EDIT: Nevermind, it's already in there..... Hm........ I still feel bad, hah. D: |
I love LD omfggggggggggggg
lord please help me from exploding from all of the awesomeness that is Rock 'n' Roll Circus she looks SO HOT in the lollipop scenes, and the ending was hilarious I.love.this.woman.so.much. |
Wow, did everyone forget about the other new song that will be available through chaku uta???
I wonder if we will ever get to hear it.. ('A') I hope so!! I wonder what song it's like. We just have to wait until release date! |
^.....Which song are you talking about? Because we've actually heard clips of every one, and full versions of all except for Last Links and meaning of Love (I believe).
About the PVs.... - Sexy litttle things - Love how weird this one is, hah!! The beginning, with the blood, is great. :P The song is really~ growing on me, too. :) - Lady Dynamite - I don't care, I like this one, too. :yes Not as amazing as most of the others, but still really fun and definitely different. - Don't look back - MY FAVOURITE!!! AAA!!!! And thank God, I'm actually beginning to like the song, too. Don't think I'll ever LOVE it, but it definitely has potential for me to really like it, hah. But yeah.... So depressing, the end of the PV. :( |
^
^ Did you mean Last Links and meaning of Love? There are the chakuta previews in the Download section. |
Quote:
|
^ I know, right???? I don't understand the dislike for it. :no The song is really good, and the PV is so freakin' fun, it's hard to see somebody not liking it at all. :(
|
we should make a club of LD lovers :heart
the pv is GREAT! it's all about having fun! <3 |
I was expecting to see TH's ayu avatar when I clicked on the link (didn't really notice who created it), then I saw a bat (or something) in avatar lol. Thanks Crystal_Ageha for making thread XII :).
I'm surprised to see AHS doesn't crash... I thought with new pvs coming out, I would not be able to enter AHS today... :P |
^ Lol, you're welcome. Hope everybody's okay with it. Again, sorry for not putting the release date in the title. >.<' (And yes, it's a sexy, evil little bat. :heart)
And actually, I just had AHS crash on me a few minutes ago, and then for a while not too long before that.... Guess you got lucky? :mad |

My PV ranking thus far: Don't Look Back Lady Dynamite Microphone You were... BALLAD Sunrise Sexy Little Things Sunset |

Spoiler:
I swear this woman is god, lmao. |
Quote:
Wow... is Slt that bad? I didn't watch any except microphone, so can't judge rite now :D |
well im also a LD lover.
its just full of awesomeness and hotness of course ^__~ |
Wow, all of the new PVs are REALLY good!!
Don't look back is one of the strongest videos I've ever seen. It's been so long since Ayu released a music video as good as this one.. Anyway, I'm so happy that she's back to being EPIC! Sexy little things is really good too. I love almost everything about it; the bizarreness just gets the best of me. Lady Dynamite is also really great. Love the lollipop part and how there's so many gay things there. She's so exaggeratedly diva that it's impossible not to love it. xD Microphone is very good too, but it's the one I like the least. I don't really like the parts that she rips the screen, it gets too repetitive and it's kind of irritating. But except that, everything else is good to me. Unfortunately, there are the single PVs... The only good one is BALLAD, You were... is boring and both Sunshit are, well.. ****. If it weren't for them, this album would probably be the one containing her strongest PVs overall. Thanks for the great comeback to the video world, ayu! |
Someone actually maintained it.
-gasp- Yay! Quote:
|
I don't dislike LD. I love the song, like the pv. It's just missing the special stuff from the other pvs. It's a 'have fun' pv, nothing bad about it. :)
I have to say I like the pics of behind the scene lollipop more than in the actual pv. She seems cute in the pics but a bit trashy in the pv with it. LOL |
^^ Whoo! The Thread Master approves, lol! :cool

My ranking is: Don't look back Lady Dynamite Microphone Sexy little things BALLAD You were... Sunrise Sunset ..Wow, I didn't realise I liked Lady Dynamite THAT much, hah! :heart (I also didn't realise that BALLAD dropped way down. >_>) And I forgot how crappy the Sunrise/Sunset PVs were, lol.... Seriously, what happened there?? :( All the other PVs are amazing! Also, not to bring this up again, but after seeing the PV of Sexy little things in full, not once did I think of GaGa, until after it was over and I remembered how Lady GaGa-ish it was supposed to be. XD Quote:

For me:

My ranking of the PV's
Don't look back Sexy little things Lady Dynamite Microphone BALLAD You were... Sunset Sunrise all of the PV's for this album (except S/S) are amazing, imo. |
Lady Dynamite is a fiece song!!
Finally kazuyoshi went no wrong at all with this PV! =D I really liked it! As for PV rankings... it's really hard so I won't do one yet. |
^wow even you give permission to kazu this time, so the pv must be good... :P
|
I didn't like the pvs, except Microphone.
They are bizarre and boring, for me. Rock 'n' roll circus disappointed me. |
^ Even though I love them, particularly because of the weird-ness, I can see how many of these would completely turn people off. D: I hope that's not the case with too many, though...
Seems like you either love the Lady Dynamite PV, or really don't like it at all, hah. And it seems everybody can at least agree on the fact that Sunrise/Sunset totally ****ed up. XD |
Quote:
It might not be your taste though, a lot of it is ayu partying in that gay club with her dancers (with their hot bodies). |
This pv is just fun :) Something like Humming 7/4 with more Koda Kumi vibe (please dont kill me :P But this pv reminds me of Ecstasy's Ku look...)
|
Could someone please explain SLTs to me though? I feel like there's something I'm missing and it's preventing me from enjoying the PV as much as I'd like. Because everyone here seems to adore it and I don't get why.....?
|
I don't see why so many people dislike the Lady Dynamite PV, I actually really like it. It's simple and fun! Though the song doesn't sound as great as I would have hoped, it'll probably grow on me.
Don't look back PV is ok. Weird, as expected. Song still growing on me, Sexy little things, weird but interesting. LOVE the song!!! OMG I LOVE IT! Microphone, PV is fun. I love the song~ |
|
Quote:
Its kinda cool to see two of the biggest stars in Japan showing they have no problem with homosexuality. Its a good message :D And we love them for it :P |
the last scene in LD PV (when ayu walks away from the disco laughing) reminds me the PV of Madonna's Justify My Love.......prove me wrong.....
|
I found Misa's Interpretation thread! I don't usually need those to explain things to me but I felt like I was suppose to understand SLT (and Micro). I felt like it was suppose to put all the pieces together and since it didn't really do that, I was lost! Now that I get it, I'll amend my list :)
Don't Look Back - as close to god as one can get lol. Lady Dynamite - fierce video is fierce. Microphone - I only really like this more than SLT because I like the song more. Sexy Little Things - Nice contrast to Microphone, she looks cute and I enjoy the ditzyness of it now. You were... - I still think this is an aesthetically stunning video. BALLAD - This is more visually stunning. But I'm over the plot. Sunrise - I enjoy the energy of it actually, love the song. Sunset - Pretty, but I don't really see myself watching this nor listening to the song over and over. Not when there's so much other badass songs on this album lol. |
Quote:
Judging from everyone's reactions, it slipped our minds I think! :) Guys there's ANOTHER new song coming out!! :D First press Japan-only cellphone downloadable!! I wonder what it'll be like! |
I still remember it.
Remember, it's a medium ballad. |
LADY DYNAMITE IS FREAKING AMAZING *_________*
I think Kazu did a good job this time (half of AHS put my name on their blacklist :laugh) the PV is really funny. And omg Ayu with lollipop :heart I love the song :luv2 omg this album is EPIC |
Quote:
|
^* Oh yeah, I forgot about that.... Probably because I realise I can't actually get it, and it'll be a while before we get anything, let alone good quality. :mad But yeah, I'm still excited for it. :yes
You know, this album has officially surpassed the few I was unsure if it would. It's may even reach top five favourites, if Don't look back grows on me just a little more, and I end up liking one of the others I'm not big on. :O Seriously, I'm totally in love with You were..., meaning of Love and Microphone, and Sexy little things is catching up fast. I also realllyy like everything about Lady Dynamite, and Sunrise/Sunset have both grown on me so much. :heart I'm officially, for the first time yet, unbelievably excited for this album, and am 100% not regretting getting the box!! ^__^ This album is already amazing in my eyes, so I can't wait to have my special limited edition mug and tea to go along with it. XD |
Lady Dynamite PV is A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!
It is SO good! |
SLT's pv is the one I have the hardest time liking, but I don't like avant garde stuff in the first place.
As far as pvs go, I rank: 1) Don't Look Back 2) Microphone 3) Lady Dynamite 4) Sexy Little Things For the songs: 1) Don't Look Back 2) Lady Dynamite 3) Sexy Little Things 4) Microphone Microphone, as a song, makes me remember Guilty (the album), which I never really got into. Maybe that will change eventually. :) |
where can I find the previews for last links and meaning of love?
|
Downloads section.
|
kewl new thread thanks
|
^ the Download section (edit: fail lol)
Songs: 1 > Microphone 2 > Lady Dynamite 3 > Don't look back 4 > Sexy little things PVs: 1 > Don't look back 2 > Sexy little things 3 > Microphone 4 > Lady Dynamite |
Question: What the heck is with people saying this album is better than the "crappy" NEXT LEVEL? It's so offensive! People did like NEXT LEVEL, and it's not even that bad of an album. I wonder if this is what people felt with MY STORY before (miss)understood or LOVEppears before Duty, or even RAINBOW before Memorial address.
They aren't even similar types of albums... -sigh- |
Here is my list =) :
Songs: 1 > Microphone 2 > Sexy little things 3 > Don't look back 4 > Lady Dynamite PVs: 1 > Sexy little things 2 > Lady Dynamite 3 > Don't look back 4 > Microphone |
Quote:
LOVEppears and RAINBOW are bad albums too, but that's my opinion >.> |
IMO, it's hard to compare Ayumi albums because they all seem to come from a different place. I can't look at them and think, "well Guilty sucks compared to Next Level"...It's more like, I just haven't come to a point where I can appreciate Guilty yet. There's an Ayumi album for everyone.
RnRC looks like an alien falling out of the sky to me at the moment. We'll see what it's like when it's released and I can listen to it as a whole. lol |
I thought that NEXT LEVEL as an Ayu album was probably one of the more experimental albums she's done in years. It wasn't that polished, but it was still great. I love listening to it from start to finish, haha.
I'd say Ayu has no "bad" albums, just albums that get better and better with more listens. Even ASFXX grew on me, haha. I still have to watch the new PVs.. blaaah. |
@GRACE
opinions are just opinions... as much as I am enjoying RnRC, IMO NL still is a better album... BTW, u disliking LOVEppears, RAINBOW and NEXT LEVEL that are somewhat similar albums shows that u just dislike this kind of music @_@ |
Never liked Next Level, never will. and this album isn't really shaping up for me either...it's kind of weird... Although Lady Dynamite pv gets an A+ in my book for the backup dancers burning it up like a gay parade while ayu is pumping it up and taking it all the way.
|
I liked Next level:yes
but well the pv for sexy little things i thought it was going to be freakier since the beginnig led me to think that and lady dynamite i thought ayu was partying in a s&m gay club :bshake i liked microphone more :yes dont look back loved it she looks sooo beautiful! |
Quote:
i'll have to agree with the comment that it wasn't as "polished" as her previous works but i don't really find it a "weak" album even for ayu. |
rank;
songs: 1. Sexy Little Things 2. Microphone 3. Lady Dynamite 4. Don't Look Back pv's: 1. Sexy little things & Microphone (cant really decide) 2. Lady Dynamite 3. Dont Look Back (it's still awesome video, but kinda "nothing really happens there" a lot) |
the whole hate for NEXT LEVEL is all about the interludes
blah blah blah 4 is too much blah blah blah and people said that she was trying so hard to be all next level which I don't get at all she never said that oh this album is so next level it was a regular album with regular songs just like all others I like NL I also love the covers too |
I think the same as GRACE... for me LOVEppears, RAINBOW and NL are my least fav albums (also a song for xx because of her voice), not that I don't like them, but I find the other ones more suitable for me... even though I listen NEXT LEVEL more than RAINBOW and LOVEppears LOL It's just about the style, lyrics, the motions...
it's just opinions and IMO it's always a bad thing to express opinions as statements. |
Quote:
That's what I think often while reading the AHS comments. People keep prising Rock 'n' Roll Circus ( even though they haven't heared all Songs in HQ yet ) and keep stepping on NEXT LEVEL while you can't compare those Albums. I think the main Problem people have is that NEXT LEVEL is a happy Album and many Ayu fans can't stand happy Songs from her |
I wonder about that as well. See the new album isn't out yet and they've already placed NEXT LEVEL as a crappy album. I actually think NL is a decent album.
Do people think LOVEppears as crap before Duty released as well? I remember that people actually couldn't adjust the new tune of Duty.. :shakehead |
my thoughts on the Lady Dynamite and Sexy little things PVs (i have yet to find the Don't look back PV on youtube. once i do, i'll edit my post.)
Sexy little things: ........what an opening! i got scared the minute i heard that scream. then i got even more creeped out once i saw blood :weep i had my volume on high, so once the scream came up, it was so loud that my dog even got scared and started screaming! :laugh the PV, overall, was SO AWESOME. i'm not a fan of the outfits ayu wore, but i loved how all the extra people fit in with the video. the song itself is just so different that i can't even describe why i like it, lol. i just do! it's really catchy as well. i can still remember how it goes even though it's been two hours since i last heard it. Lady Dynamite: before i watched this PV, i saw the PV preview first. that kazuyoshi guy is one hell of a director, lol. he's just so crazy! i saw how he was directing ayu on what moves to do and stuff. now i see why people dislike him, he's just...way too much. :laugh speaking of just "too much", that's really how i can sum up the PV in less than 5 words, haha. what a crazy PV! i actually pretty much liked it. ayu looked stuning, but the club was so crazy! i liked the parts where ayu's in the red wall room (i assume it's a bathroom because of the toilet stalls or whatever you specifically call it). when that scene where a guy was using the men's "toilet" came up, it was just so unexpected, lol. i dunno, alot of things in this PV were just so crazy. but i liked it, i really did. the whole song isn't that powerful, but it's pretty good. |

While I feel like NL had more unusual songs, RnRC is more of an actual step towards the "next level".

i really dont understand the hate comments for NL either i think that each album is its own seperate piece of art that ayu makes at different phases of her life so thats why all the albums are different my opinion is that i have albums i like less than others but in each album there is a song or songs that just make me say man i love this album while listening to it.:yes

^ I know. Some people associate 'cute' with 'bad'. :( Ayumi has some of the greatest cute songs ever. Now, EnergizE isn't one of the greatest, but it's still a good song. :yes And all this is coming from somebody who normally doesn't take easily to cutesy things, hah.
And yeah, I agree with you, Moriko. It does seem like some people don't like it whenever Ayu puts out happy things, hah... NEXT LEVEL is definitely one of my favourite Ayu albums, actually. I like Days and identity a lot more than most of the songs on, say, I am..., and it's unspeakably better than the closest thing to it, LOVEppears. (All my opinion, of course. Just want to add to the NEXT LEVEL love. :)) Though, even though I thought I would probably end up liking NEXT LEVEL more than this one, I may have changed my mind, hah... Not sure yet, though, because those two songs I already listed, I love sooooooo much!! Then again, I just know I'm going to love meaning of Love almost as much as Days, at the least, and I definitely like You were... just as much, maybe even more. Like I said before, this album is slowly, but surely, rising above other albums. I probably like it more than RAINBOW at this point, already, and that's in the middle of my favourites list. |
I dun get why people hate EnergizE so much as well... It's a fun song..

do we have hq of don't look back?
|
^^just my opinion/personal taste. LOVEppears + Duty are her best albums in my mind... :P
|
RAINBOW IMO is a grand album that doesn't get the appreciation it deserves. After I am... it was basically hailed as her worst album ever until MY STORY came out. (This is in 2004.)
-sigh- And then every album after MY STORY was named the "worst" until a new album came out... My take on Ayu albums in general is that they are all her "children" and they should be equally appreciated for what they bring to the table as individuals, not compared to the other albums. I suppose because of this, I find it really hard to dislike any album. I mean think of it like this... would you ever compare your children to one another and basically say one of them is worthless compared to an older one? |
The thing.. RAINBOW wasn't something that people would hear in ayu's music when it first released. It's neither poppy nor rocky (well at that time I dun really think ayu was as rocky as today..). It's kinda like a ordinary album from any jpop artist. Tbh, I think back then I didn't really feel ayu-ish in RAINBOW.
But as time goes by, I think it belongs the GOLD section as well. I remember I listened to the full album back in a year ago, and realized how good it actually was. And is MY STORY that bad? I think GUILTY is actually her worst album to date... :P (my personal taste of course). I never couldn't stand an ayu album until GUILTY came out. I just couldn't finish the whole album. And I kept skipping the tracks until I finally realized that the only songs I liked in the album were the ones from the singles. How pathetic it is. I really tried to forced myself to listen to it, but just couldn't... :shakehead.. sigh... |

For me, the only album I would want to change is ASFXX since she hadn't blossomed as an artist yet at the time imo. I want a rearranged album now. |
Well tbh I wasn't really thrilled about MY STORY, but it wasn't as bad as I can imagine. It's always funny that a year after I start to appreciate the albums, such as RAINBOW and MY STORY. The only exception is GUILTY.

And people shouldn't hate people don't liking cute/happy songs... of course if a lot of songs are cute/happy I'll think "oh... I would preffer less cute/happy songs", and sure with GUILTY some people thought "oh, there're so many rock and ballad songs!" (as it seems that will happen with RnRC)... I don't hate people because they don't like rock songs LOL We should feel lucky that Ayu has the capacity of creating music, sounds, lyrics that can be loved by so many different people with so many different tastes ^^ She uses a lot of style and everyone will surely find one song that fit their tastes ^^ |
For me the bad albums are: GUILTY, MY STORY and NEXT LEVEL
And the awesome albums are: Memorial address (well i know, this is a mini-album but is gorgeous) miss understood, RAINBOW and I am... |
^Does anyone hate the people who hate cute songs? :freak. I think they just probly hate the fact that people keep dissing the cutie of xx (whatever song it is).
Memorial address is actually one of her greatest as well.. Yeah I should put it along w/ LOVEppears and Duty on my list :). And for I am... I still have the trauma from it. Actually not from it, but from the time when ayu was overexposed and I was a bit sick of her hectic releasing schdeule/appearance/etc. How pathetic I am... :cry |
^ I don't hate them! I just wish they'd give it a chance.

@Crystal_Ageha: Yes Duty and LOVEppears are actually quite the opposite in term of music arrangement. But I love the flow of LOVEppears, and the "freedom" from it (I'm not saying the album is about freedom). Duty is more dynamic, and has more character inside. They both are equally great in my eyes :D.
PS: kanariya is such a great song. Yeah her voice is squeaky, but I just love it :D |
MY STORY and Guilty are my least liked albums; they don't feel cohesive to me...There are songs that I love from them, but I don't like to listen through the albums as a whole.
RAINBOW > I Am... I've never understood the dislike for Rainbow. My only complaint is that the title song is on another album. o.O LOVE Next Level. I was so excited to have such an electronic album from Ayumi. The thing about RnRC is I don't see how it's going to flow. I feel like while I love the songs, I'm getting the "not cohesive" vibe like with MY STORY and Guilty. x_x But...we'll see... |
IMO her worst albums to date are ASFXX (just cuz it sounds like a generic jpop album arrangment/music-wise) and Secret (a rushed mess, even if all the songs were great, it doesn't work as a whole).
I think people just tends to expect a 2nd "this album" or "this pv" too much and get disapointed when they notice she went on the oposite direction, some time after that, they listen to the song/watch the video/etc and realize that it was good, turning the new work the new enemy :P My top 3 would be (miss)understood, RAINBOW and NEXT LEVEL IMO RnRC is turning out to be her most generic album since My Story... but a good, fun, interesting generic^^ |

As for GUILTY, I would say I have to be a certain mood to listen to that album as a whole since (don't) Leave me alone and GUILTY are tracks that I normally don't listen to all that much. Everything else on that album is gold though, haha. About cohesion, I feel as though with the way Japanese albums are usually crafted with single single single single album single single single album and so on... it's really hard to maintain a cohesive album if you're the type of artist that Ayu is who dabbles in genres all the damn time. A lot of her albums imo are as cohesive [yet not cohesive at all] and everything just seems to WORK. It's not the case for everyone, but for me it is, haha. Quote:

This album's genre count so far is kind of scary, haha. |
The only albums that don't sound cohesive to me are NEXT LEVEL and (miss)understood. Rock'n'Roll Circus is heading in that direction too, but it will be forgivable like with (miss)understood. :yes NEXT LEVEL was like... half cohesive and half totally random.
|
Not picking on anybody here, but I don't understand how for some, an album drops so far on the list just because it doesn't have perfect flow (or maybe any, lol). For me, that's the least I care about. It's kinda neat if all the songs just go into each other beautifully, but I couldn't care less if they didn't. :shrug Actually, now that I think about it, I'd rather have an album that didn't flow well, hah. Because that usually means there's a lot of different types of songs, and that's something that means a lot to me. (This isn't always the case, though. Like with Duty. That has so many different types and experimental aspects, but it still flows fairly well.) It's one of the reasons (miss)understood is one of my favourite albums, actually. Same with NEXT LEVEL; it's also why I'm starting to love this album so much. ^_^
But yeah, relating to that: Blue, I agree about LOVEppears. It does has amazing flow. The only Ayu album that can compare is A Song for xx..... Honestly, though, it's probably just because those are her two least varied albums. :X Even GUILTY - the album that people claim to be non-stop rock - has more variety. |

Oh back to your point. Actually I like NL because she tried to go for another direction instead. Of course it's not her first time doing techno side, but it sounded so fresh from her previous ones. And personally I prefer techno over (heavy) rock, so it's obvious that I would enjoy NL. :). |

It's not a big deal to me, but I'll notice. I rarely listen to whole albums anyway. |
^ Aa. Yeah, see, most people VERY rarely listen to full albums, so that's one of the main reasons it annoys me when people complain about it, hah. Not how you complained, though... Like, with some of the NEXT LEVEL reviews I've seen, for example. A lot of people said the main reason that album "sucks" is because it's so random and has terrible flow... Then, I have to be like, 'wut??? :(' I just don't understand how the flow can completely ruin an album. And that's how a lot of people feel, I guess. >_<'

And I liked NL cuz imo it's a very positive album, something that was needed when it was first released, and I really like when her lyrics are focused on the world instead of on herself cuz I think she does have some amazing points about it^^ rollin' imo have some very clever lyrics And I like how it flows... people complains a lot about GREEN, but lyric-wise it was on the better place, and I found it amazing how she played with a break on the flow in the middle of the album... making things flowing well sometimes mean playing with the flow of a work, and she did it there... rollin' => green it's like "we need to change now!" => totally different song |

I feel that NEXT LEVEL will find enlightenment some time during Rock'n'Roll Circus' lifetime just as the albums before it have. People who once despised the album will appreciate it and all will be fine in Ayu Land until the next album releases and people decide to hate that. |
If an album doesn't flow very well it doesn't make me like it any less, I think people should just judge it on each individual song :shrug The order of the songs on NEXT LEVEL annoyed me, so I just moved some songs around and enjoyed it so much more. It's not really a big deal.
|
@ Crystal_Ageha: (your msg is too long to be quoted :P). I dun find myself particular need a perfect flow from an album. The content is more important as if the materials really suit my taste. Duty doesn't have the "perfect flow", but the songs are united together as a whole. Not to mention all the songs inside are spectacular... well maybe I dun like SCAR that much but it's still listenable. And I just prefer Dave Ford mix of AUDIENCE (the album version is like 90% similar to the mix except it's a bit rough).
Yeah LOVEppears is has the perfect flow, and the variety of the album is the least (techno --> techno --> techno). Even the slow songs like TO BE and End roll can flow inside the album as well. The thing is I feel like the album is just something easily come out from ayu's mind. I haven't heard A Song for xx yet (yeah shame on me but people say the album sucks), but I guess LOVEppears is quite different from the first album. I believe that the materials from ASfxx easily came out from her mind as well, but at that moment it's hard for her to properly construct or convey her feelings and words into the song. In LOVEppears she had more experience for the construction. |
lol I think a lot of people are like this... If it's new, they hate it. Then a few months or a couple years down the road, they wonder how they lived without it. LOL

Homework: Go listen to ASFXX, aieeee. Or at the very least, listen to sleeperspaceborn's [a user here] remix of from your letter. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RZUJI480 If you likey, pick it up here. I am still obsessed with this version. Quote:

Still no airdate for don't look back =( Need a HQ rip, its killing me not watching the cam version, but I want to save watching it until its out in HQ.
and no next level hate plz. Its my favourite album from her because of the experimentation with her sound.. but I think this album is going to beat it. |
@Andrenekoi: Oh my god while reading your msg I found out I had many grammars lol. I guess I shouldn't press the reply button before proof-reading my stuff.
I think I would prefer ayu using a song as a transition instead of interludes. After MY STORY I kinda feel that lots of her interludes are fillers. She doesn't need them for a transition between songs. See Duty doesn't have any and it doesn't have any problem at all. I would rather see an album with 12 tracks (1 intro or interlude) than 14 - 15 tracks with 3 - 4 intro + interludes. @TH: Actually I was watching pvs at ayu yt channel a few days ago, and I finally got a chance to listen For My Dear (I alway avoid to listen old songs cuz her voice was freakin' squeaky in ASfxx). Yeah her voice was bad in For My Dear, but the song was surprisingly good. Probly I should download the album before deciding whether I should buy it or not (and yeah I still haven't purchased I am... yet, which I should). |

Don't look back has been added to M-ON's database too, so look out there for an airdate as well. |
