Hmm I asked him because I was curious myself and he told me that full albums cost 15-30 yuan, so it's the normal price for a mini.

Which is damn cheap and I doubt avex is selling the whole album for that.
It's just strange, would love to know more.

But she seems to be more valued in China than in Japan from the comments I've read.

The 1st post the Baidu user created , he/she basically just writes that he/she wants to get many other Baidu users to purchase TROUBLE digitally while trying to hit a certain number quota

Frankly I don't know how this Baidu user is doing that cos 8 Yen seems unlikely to buy all the songs in TROUBLE online

8 China Renminbi is more likely but even if so , that's about S$1.60+ / 130 Yen + which's super duper cheap to buy 5 songs digitally o_O

Digital sales in China seems more appealing than in Japan. I see Utada's numbers and she's doing amazing for Oricon standards, but it's like... 8k, 3k each week.

In Thailand, TROUBLE is cost at only 3usd or approx.280-300jpy for whole album in iTune

aliceshields 15th August 2018 04:08 PM

MY iTune store @ RM19.50, roughly Yen¥526

Oh, yeah it's terrible. I'm sure that number is correct. Oricon has a very small amount of sources it uses for digital sales if I remember correctly.

It's small, but I guess they count iTunes, mora.jp and Recochoku, right? They're the biggest digital download services in Japan.

I think digital downloads are not that popular at all.

URANUS 15th August 2018 07:14 PM

Those physical sales are pretty good. I hope this album will have longevity. I need Ayu to break 50k again.

Hikki is the only artist in Japan who can achieve high physical sales and high digital downloads.

^ You mean that Namie is bad at digital sales? I didn't know that.

If this is slightly higher than sixxxxxx then I am satisfied! But I am wondering why do you guys say that this is surprising that she got this number despite the lack of promo, do you actually think that those 18k were bought by non Ayu fans? lol Out of these 18k copies there must be like at most 1 or 2% bought by the general public. The promo (or the lack of promo) has no impact on Ayu's sales nowadays, the number of fans does.

SunshineSlayer 15th August 2018 08:02 PM

^Amuro has high digital sales; at least on Recochoku as far as I know. Hero alone is certified for double platinum (500,000 digital sales).

There is something very odd about how Oricon is doing its digital sales chart. I'm sure Ayu's digital sales are more than 856, but in terms of the Oricon chart, I'm sure that's correct because they always show such low digital sales numbers for people, while other places like RIAJ and Billboard seem to report higher; that might just be my impression though. I haven't actually looked up statistics.

AyuCanada 15th August 2018 08:05 PM

I was expecting a huge drop from her previous releases. I'm surprised she is between Sixxxxxx and Made in Japan.

rainbow_smile 15th August 2018 08:40 PM

Maybe RIAJ and Billboard include the online streams, not just downloads? Besides, someone has said that LINE MUSIC is one of the most popular platforms, and apparently it's not included on Oricon?

Ruan Borges 15th August 2018 09:23 PM

Gosh, just realised how much i've miss the "charts & rankings" threads, it's been a while!

Hope the album will have longevity, so the thread stays alive, cause I don't expect big amount of physical releases coming from ayu these days.

mi|kshake 15th August 2018 09:34 PM

Sales are looking good! I was thinking worst case scenario she would sell 20k total.

Cahz- 15th August 2018 09:51 PM

To my surprise she has climbed a lot of spots from yesterday on digital stores:

Recochoku general: #5 http://recochoku.jp/ranking/album/daily/
Recochoku hi res: #1 http://recochoku.jp/ranking/hires_album/daily/
Mora: #13 and #21 http://mora.jp/ranking?term=lrank24&genre=all

If anyone could provide iTunes position that would be great.

EndOfTheWorld 15th August 2018 11:25 PM

I actually felt like TROUBLE would sell generally well so I these sales are what I expected. I'm glad it is selling well but I hope that it doesn't send a message to release more albums like TROUBLE.:dead2

Billboard counts everything together - digital sales, streams, radio plays.
Digital sales for albums aren't that good, never were. There are just very few albums certified Gold for 100k of digital sales ever- you can see a list in the RIAJ thread I made in the Asian Music section.

Oricon counts all big digital sales platforms (pure digital sales, no streams, just like RIAJ!)
iTunes alone is making about 60% of all digital sales in Japan, then there's Recochoku with about 20% if I remember correctly and the rest are others.
Ok, saw those numbers last in 2014, but I don't think they have changed that much in terms of distribution.
iTunes has probably even risen higher in numbers after that.

Uknow! 16th August 2018 11:28 AM

I think Ayu will lost the second position, she sold less than 4.000 copies today and Southern All Stars sold 10.000 copies.
