The arrangement is very nice. The song sounds a bit like it would fit on ASFXX IMO.

It's a beautiful song, but gosh. It's a clone of all the other ballads we've received in the last five years. I think it's a natural response given the size of Ayu's discography and the small group of people she has been working with production wise in the last few years...

Though really, what were you expecting? I'm just happy for a new song. Honestly, I don't think she's really done a song like this in the last 5 years. Maybe in the first 5 years of her career though.

I'm happy for new music too, I guess I'm just hoping for her to surprise me again someday hahaha. Like I said, it's not a bad track, it's just very familiar.

With Ayu, familiarity is usually what you'll get, I feel. The surprises are typically reserved for albums.

The song is similar to songs from the albums: Made in Japan, A one and sixxxxxx. Nothing new and fresh.

I just listened to it and I am quite happy with WORDS. It sounds like something that could be on Love Again. It is somewhat of a typical mid tempo Ayu ballad, but it is an Ayu ballad done so well.
Also, Ayu's vocals really impressed me. She sounds very comfortable singing this song.

I feel like she sounds a bit more fragile in this than she has in recent years.

Actually, I feel that Ayu has previously been an artist that has consistently surprised with singles (i.e. Bold & Delicious). Though I agree in recent years, she has definitely released expected singles. Regardless, I'm always happy to see her release something (even if it is too familiar)!

I don't think Bold & Delicious was really a good decision for her as a single. It may have prevented people from checking out (miss)understood IMO.

I've always found she fell into a certain pattern for a long while with spring/summer/fall-winter releases and only really had standouts on albums. Anything like B&D was out of the norm for her.

I wonder if this will find its way to an album after this alongside We are the QUEENS.

Oh definitely not, it's not a favourite of mine, but I think there is merit in experimenting in genre and sound, so I appreciate it for what it is. :love I like WORDS too, but she already has tracks in this vein and so it feels lost among them already? Who knows, it'll probably be on high rotation in my playlists anyway. Can't deny me some new Ayu. :luv2

I think it's hard to find a place for some Ayu tracks due to their 'sameness' at times but they usually do end up where they belong. The lyrics for this are probably the selling point. She brings up the ibasho again.

It's a nice song, but I do agree it's pretty typical. However it's not a normal single, it's just a song distributed for free at her concerts, so I don't even mind. And I do love her ballads, so I'm quite happy

She sounds so good, and it's so... comforting? Very Ayu-ish, and therefore has that sense of nostalgia that permeates all her songs. I'm just so happy to have a new Ayu song, really. I feel like this is what Love Again could have been with a bit more attention given to making the songs feel richer.

I think it's a very nice and beautiful song. The melody reminds me of everything that I loved about Japanese pop music in the last century. Very nostalgic and touching. I do wish though that the arrangement were more creative to give it greater depth

It may not be the most amazing or standout track she's ever released, but I do like it. I also really appreciate it being a more powerful ballad, and not an airy/light ballad in her upper register like she has been more prone to release in the last decade.

Even though it's not her best song, I don't know what the hell she has that everytime I listen something new from her she makes me FEEL the song.

She hasn't got the best voice, but she can transmit a lot with it.

The lyrics have a big "A song for XX" (the album) vibe.

Lovely typical standard nostalgic Ayu-ish ballad and with that I mean she is the master of making a ballad that takes me to this sad mellow nostalgic environment in japanese movie where the ending is the main role died because of an illness, and the lover is reminiscing that person.

As for the title, there isn't much in the lyrics that indicates anything. I guess it's mostly about her learning to say something and her forgetting words and re-learning them.

Very cute and effective track! I miss this kind of music and it is fun to have new words and melody in that same genre. I don't mind if this song is very "typical" from her, it is what she does best, and I know she will come with a more experimental sound anytime soon (she always alternates with both).

I think this song if it ever become one of the material for her new album, it's gonna be just a fuller. Generic, I haven't find any interesting thing about this song, I would like it if she sing in more heavy powerful tones like MAD WORLD. I don't know why the song reminds me of crossroad. It's not similar, but it has a very "Ayu" feel.
I like it. ^^ But two of my favourite songs are It was and Life, so I have a kind of softness for these kind of, how I like to call them, little songs.

This is Ayu. Instead of fighting it, I came to think I should embrace it.
Endless sorrow and Heartplace as rock songs with strings felt really fresh back then, but since then it feels like every other rock-ish song includes strings.
There're artists who start feeling stale even only on their second album, or whose style hasn't changed much since their debut. Imagine a J-Rock band with a violinist - every song of them would be rock with strings. So instead of sighing or eye-rolling over rock song with strings No.736 or mid-tempo ballad with piano and strings No.1437, I should accept that there're things she likes and that she found her style. Her most exciting era has long past.

With Ayu possibly being on the verge of losing her hearing completely and subsequently resigning from singing, I'll take even the most boring songs if that means she'll continue singing.

Because no one has posted a translation yet I gave it a try. ^^a

I want to point out that she uses anata in the beginning and kimi at the end. Both mean "you", but I think they likely are two different people.

Edit: I edited the translation a little, because I feel she's saying she forgot what it meant to love, but kimi showed it to her. Saying "our held hands" and "your gaze" seems wrong, so I tried for a more general translation.

Amazing song, it sounds fresh to me, can't think of any other song it sounds like in her discography. I love her vocals and it's clear how much emotion she put into it.
