Ok, i've given it more thought about the setlist. A lot of you people compare it with the PCDL setlist because of those repeat performances of rare songs. Everywhere Nowhere and Signal I have no problem with, I think those 2 could become her staples. In the Corner was awesome during CDL, and she is wise to repeat it here for the tour.
I pinpoint the problem in particular to 2 songs, For My Dear and Hope And Pain. These 2 ballads are just average at best (of course for some of you they could be your favorites, i'm just saying in general here), they don't deserve their spots here. I think if Ayu exchange them with some other ballads, everyone will be happy. And she can do it easily too because those 2 performances have no dancers and no choreography. Some great alternatives I can think of: Forgiveness, Hanabi Ep.2, Walking Proud, Dolls, Close to You, Jewel, Momentum, Moments, Heaven... and Life could be done during encore. |
^ <3 i would love if she change them with those songs you listed....i do really want to hear hanabi ep.2, but doesn't seem it would fit the outfit

isn't forgiveness like... one of her biggest flops? Even if I love this song, doesn't look like a good choice...
The PCDL songs she used were chosen by her fans at T.A... She asked them wich rare songs she should peform, and Hope or Pain was the most voted if I'm not wrong... |
I would love to see more forgiveness lives too... is one of my favorite ballads from ayu

Well I think indeed there will be some changes in the end of the tour, after the break with a-nation and such. Maybe a new single will pop up? Or just some changes with the setlist like she always does. I think the tour is awesome right now and I think it will continue to be awesome, even with changes. ^^

This years finale with the flying chair seems a bit 'eh' compared to last years huge ship on stage, but overall it does seem like a really cool concert. That horrid wig is even growing on me. I love how they brought more emphasis on screens back too. |
I don't even care about the costumes to be honest. I know my mom probably will, so I'm only going to show her one of concerts. I think I'll show her this one. PCDL is too long for a casual listener I think. She'll get tired and wonder when Ayu's going to change again hahaha.

Smells very low budget to me. I guess they had to cut the budget for the concerts this year, it's a pity too, since it seemed like it had some good concepts.

Ok, I had my bf (native japanese speaker) take a look at the With Ayu bbs and translate some things for me. I could tell they were arguing, but my level isn't good enough to understand the very specifics of it. Here is what he said is going on: After the show, several people were complaining (like here) that it was too much of the same again. Some feel that this show is only a prototype or alpha version and that the "real" show isn't going to come around until October. Many people are voicing their dissatisfaction saying why should they have to pay for something that isn't finished? A few people are saying 'just don't go to the show then' and what not. Then others saying that even though they are Team Ayu members (this is a hard core Ayu fan board in Japan), being a fan is not just supporting no matter what. Lots of back and forth and some very rude according to him. I've read a few good opinions of the show, but most have been pretty "blah" about it and don't have much desire to see it again.

It would be sucky if this show was a "prototype" show, but I doubt it. The first show of any of her tours will always be the shakiest. It was probably more shaky than ever this time though - probably because of her hectic schedule and the release of NEXT LEVEL so close to the date.
It's not really an excuse when you have paying customers though. But unless it was absolutely terrible, I wouldn't feel cheated. I think we can't see it from these people's viewpoints because they probably go to an Ayu show every year, whereas her western fans wouldn't and would appreciate whatever she did more. Japanese fans would have higher expectations to match the previous concerts they went to. And Hope or Pain is not a mediocre ballad, it's to me one of her best and really underappreciated, and most importantly, transfers to a live performance really well. |

I do hope the show improves. It seems like there were many problems with the show like the audio running out at certain parts or the mike getting cut off. It does seem rather PCDL recycled, so they really need to improve I guess. The white floating chair thing (vs. the ship in AT08, metallic cross in AT07) isn't an improvement at all. Yup, please Ayu. It does seem like a very very rushed production. Many good ideas but they just fell short of good execution.

Eh. The tour has a few breaks - chances are they'll get updated when Ayu finally has the time to design what she really wants to do costume wise. She had very little time preperation wise due to the recent release of NEXT LEVEL, its not surprising she recycled costumes. She done it before on atleast two occasions.
Btw, I quite like the purple jacket and wig. That was my favourite costume (after MW) from PCDL. I just dont like those pants, and she's using them for about half the concert it seems! |
maybe they will make a special final or something coz this tour is damn long

Well, I think better about the concert now that I read some reviews, light show and videos seem to be superb and LOVE 'n' HATE and identity are not in the PCDL-copy outfit? Great^^ My two favourite songs of NEXT LEVEL get good outfits then^^ |

I'm happy this year's stage is different compared to her previous...even if its tone down with no special props. From the reports its suppose to be a colorful stage with the lights and screens so that gives me hope. Maybe a tone down stage might not be that bad...afterall, I loved 07-08 cdl, and pcdl. I never cared about ayu's previous recycled costumes but this time I'm really unhappy about it. If she has to recycle outfits, atleast put more effort into changing it more to make it not that noticeable. I also don't understand why she had to make the same outfits but in different colors...the sparkle purple jacket and the pink mermaid dress. It takes time to make them...why can't they be different design? The mermaid dress isn't the only style that she can walk in...and the jacket style could of been really different if she wanted to. |

And as far as profoundness goes...I think kuu has a few profound performances...but they're not profound in the same way... and Ayu for me hasn't really had one in a long time...but neither has kuu lol... ack the jpop world is so weird right now. |

I just want her to look good. Like seriously. I wouldn't care if she came out in a damn clown suit, if she looked awesome in it. And I wouldn't care what kind of performances she gave either...as long as she looked awesome doing it...but a lot of things she tries to do like...flops bad lol and btw...what is the red thing supposed to be? It's a cheer outfit? At first I was like...oh it's a cowgirl outfit...oh no the hat...like a flight attendant...but no...because it doesn't...hmm... and then I gave up lol |
The red outfit is suppose to be a cheerleader outfit. If you look closely, the star on her hat is the tour's logo. I really like the cheerleader and the grey military outfit...looks so good on her! If only the rest of the outfits are not the way they are.

Now this thread is gonna be ayuXkuu. hahha..I dun say I hate or love who. COz I love ayu and kuu when it comes to live performance but I personally love ayu's syle of live performance. Beside looking prettier than kuu ^^, ayu has this charisma or whatever it is (like someone said up there: Spirit) that makes her live more enjoyable to watch even if she just sit there and sing. The way she deliver the songs is so much nicer anyway. if I were to rank, ayu#1, kuu#2 ^^ YAY...cheers |
Kumi almost always uses the similar dresses and the cheap blonde wig for her ballads that's supposed to look cute on her, along with the white dress xD Her tours are usually messy as Andre said. When it comes to performing live Ayu has way more exp. and she is simply far better than Ku.

Kuu's concert actually kind of go towards more of the Taiwan singers' concerts... I mean the whole interaction with the audience in the main concert is SO C-Pop. Ayu has never done that in the main concert... it's like a proper show; very grand and formal, while Kuu is more informal and more fun overall.
Either way, I love them both. :P And wouldn't the ballads look better if it was like this... In The Corner -short intro- GREEN -outro (lol wut's that) -same intro as AT 09- HOPE or PAIN Days -Kaeru- I mean GREEN is a ballad, but in a totally different style from HOPE or PAIN and Days. It's a non-conventional ballad that requires something more. The PCDL performance of GREEN pwns AT 09, me thinks. |
Whats with all the hating on Koda Kumi? @_@ I think her concerts are pretty good too...second only to Ayu...and she can be an insanely amazing vocalist...depending on the song being performed. I like her energy on stage even if Ayu typically has more. Iunno...Im entitled to my opinions...you guys are entitled to yours i guess...

i like both of their concerts...but i think kuus concert are more suitable for youngster to watch while ayu's suitable for all range...since ayu's fan range is really wide!ranging from small children to elderly people =)

I enjoy Kuu more because she doesn't do an annoying cute voice. She has more energy in her voice nonetheless.
Let's hope Ayu has more energy in her voice this time around, PCDL was a disappointment vocally. No emotion whatsoever, thank goodness she didn't perform appears. I probably would have fallen asleep. Then of course, her cute voice bugs me a bit. It just is WAY too cute sounding for me to fully enjoy a song I guess. Tracklisting this year looks ok. Yay for HOPE or PAIN and In The Corner love <3 |

there've been reports/comments/postings from fans on how the stage is so simple this year, how boring they think the costumes are, but in my opinion these people are forgetting that we've got a BLOODY RECESSION going on.
every. single. industry is affected. and the music industry's definitely not spared too. budgets have to be cut, costs have to be be minimized - in fact i'm wouldn't be surprised if she didn't do an asian leg this year because the costs would simply escalate. also, i think people around this forum should stop complaining and whining that the tour should have been done this way, the songs should have been included this way, or the dresses should have been worn that way. if you've not been to the concert with ayu dancing live on a stage in front of your very eyes, then i think you should reserve your comments AT LEAST until you've seen it. seeing a concert live is very different from just reading reports on them. |
^ But she has more attendees this year, all of them paying the same they payed the last years, why would they cut the budget, even if theres a recession going on?

Lack of props, amazing costumes and sets was due to the little time she had this year to put on the show. And about the music industry, it has been falling for years now |

i know discussion's always welcomed (just like how we are here hahaha) but there's a fine line between discussing and... well, whining and complaining about everything.
all i'm saying is that ayu, though she yields the most power, isn't the only one involved in the decision-making processes. there are so many factors influencing the planning of a concert and how it'll eventually be presented to the audience. and emiko san, i love, love, LOVE your analogy of using fashion, but i think we're looking at two very different industries altogether. a louis vuitton bag may cost $5000, but the people who buy such bags are EXPECTED TO and know that they have to pay such a premium amount, even in such tough times. the thing is, people will still gladly fork $$$ for them because c'est la mode! and i'm not blaming the recession! i think it could be a factor in shaping ayu's tour this year, and i just hope people will bear that in mind and keep it real, that's all. |
I think that sometimes there are so many effort in producing the concert, and the technology used is expensive, but people thinks that everything was simple cause they don't see the expensive aspects of it
Don't know if this is the case, but that's happened on Madonna's "The Girlie Show"... it has one of the most complex stages she ever used, but it appears to be very simple... =) |

-Black Latex Rule costume: Itīs cool, nothing new, fits the song and all. I like that it doesnīt has the open sides like on the PV. But Iīm not convinced much by her hair... Iīll have to wait to see it on video.
-Cheerleader outfit: I donīt see why everyone loves this one. Itīs ok, but a bit too cute and ugly imo. If it were simpler I would like it more. Also, red is not the color that best suits her. -Black outfit with her midriff exposed and hat: I donīt like her with hats xDD but well, itīs ok. I like her tie though. -Big puffy white dress with sleeves closed: No. I donīt see her love for those dresses. They are horrible, seem like taken out from the 19th century and they make her look extremely old. Same goes for the pink-arms open one, but that is even cheesier. I like the correlation of Days with the pink color but really, it makes her look old. And how many times have we seen the "changing dress" trick before? -Militar outfit with miniskirt: The best outfit of the whole show, and the only one that doesnīt have faults in my opinion. She looks young, sexy and powerful. -White glittery tuxedo: Is this Ayu or A.I.? Looks pretty much disgusting. She is like the Bling Bling Bling Mama in this. -Black latex costume with the corset: This is one of the best too. She looks sexy and fierce, but it looks a bit recycled from past concerts. -Sparkle one with wig and Scawaii jacket: Oh... my ... god. Along with the one used for Days, this is the worst of the worst. That wig makes her face look like a dish, that jacket is totally inaproppiate for Sparkle (she should have used latex here imo) and the pants seem to be recycled from the Black outfit with midriff exposed. She looks kinda ridiculous. No, no, no ... -Encore one: one of the best too. She looks very young and happy, and I like her trousers with that part falling over her lap. Looks very cute. The best outfits imo: Encore one, militar one and black latex with corset one. The worst outfits imo: Cheerleader one, Puffy white/pink dresses, sparkle one, white tuxedo D: |
