Loveppears -Opinion-?

I haven't heard the album yet but the snippets of it sound really good but I haven't seen much opinion of it on here. Is it in your top 5 or bottom 5?

zellyx 18th April 2011 11:16 AM

(EDIT) Middle actually! I like some of her other albums better. Her voice is just too small sounding for me in this album and A Song For XX!
Though I like the songs fly high, and then, ps II, who../kanariya, to be, appears, boys & girls, end roll, and monochrome. They are very good live! I just prefer her more mature voice to this one.

Are you a new ayu fan? :)

thatstacey 18th April 2011 11:46 AM

^I had to re-read your post a few times; your TO BE set was throwing me off lol.

LOVEppears is definitely in my top 5; it has a lot of classic singles and concert staples--"Fly high," "Boys & Girls," "Who...," "TO BE," "WHATEVER," the entire A single... I love every song on the album. That said, I became a fan around the time its singles were being released, so this is one of the definitive Ayu albums for me. I can see why it might be a difficult album to get into if you came to know/like Ayu's music around 2005 or later.

stepYOU1234 18th April 2011 12:23 PM

Definitely top five! I don't think I dislike a single song from it and there are plenty of good songs besides the classics. And Then is probably one of my top ten played songs :D

Lol. That's because TO BE is one of my top favorites by Ayu. :)
I know it seems kind of contradictory.
But I feel like overall, I can't listen to LOVEppears fully since I need to skip over the House & Euro mixes and a few others~

If you love ayu's voice and eurodance music from the late 90s with a dark spin, you're most likely going to find something that suits your taste on LOVEppears. Also, it has, like most pre MY STORY ayu albums, many tracks by DAI. To me personally this combination is wonderful and LOVEppears is probalby in my top 3 when it comes to ayumi's albums if you'd have me rating them. However, it's quite different from what she's been releasing the past five years. If you're not familiar with any of this, certain tracks may seem a bit "old fashioned". The old style arrangements dont take away fro the fact that both lyrics and vocals are just as emotional as ASFXX. THis held together with the composition and arrangements makes for a varied album that'll touch you emotionally. IMHO.

My pesonal favourite songs off this album would be Fly High, Boys&girls, And Then and Who..

I also really like monochrome, TO BE, kanariya, appears, PS II, immature and trauma. Frankly, the rest of the songs aren't bad either, but I like them more in other versions not found on the LOVEppears album.

Good luck listening to LOVEppears, it's a real treat!

(I think the only album of hers I would absolutely rate above LOVEppears without a doubt is I am... )

hayasaki 18th April 2011 10:01 PM

I love this album. I could still remember when this album was released and I was just a grade schooler. Now that I've grown up, I never get tired listening to this without skipping a track. I consider this as ayu's "debut" than ASFXX ...i dunno why, but this album shows off the star-material sleeping inside Ayu that has awoken and inspired millions of fans.

Immature could be my favorite track. :)

EDIT: PS. LOVEppears could have been ayu's "J-Pop to the bones" album

Mirrorcle Monster 18th April 2011 10:22 PM

Top 5 totally! It contains some EPIC songs that will never be done again (immature, Who..., TO BE)

kinix 18th April 2011 10:50 PM

defiantely top 5! I remember those days when I was still using those portable cd player and I played the abum everyday when I was on the way to school =) so frequent that the disc got spoiled easily... i've bought the album 4 times ^^" personally, I like the music in this album alot. the remix disc is a plus! if only they recorded a full version of monochrome, the album would be perfect!

NintendoHTF1242 18th April 2011 11:08 PM

It's somewhere in the middle for me. Not the top, but not the bottom either. I like some songs, and dislike some songs.

Kazeyomi 18th April 2011 11:24 PM

As many others just said, LOVEppears it's on my TOP 5 Ayu albums as well :D
It's one of her best works so far imo. I love how bittersweet lyrics matches so well with electronic music. I cannot imagine the same song with other arrangements though (like WHATEVER version J :/ ugh nothing special). It wouldn't be the same for me.

JackieRos 19th April 2011 10:58 AM

Of course top 5

I love that you can hear her voice evolving

In a song for x her voice was small and cute and loveppears is getting deep

I love this album, I definitely recommend it

Surprisingly no, I have been a fan since early last year and currently own NL (my first Ayu album), Secret, MU and RnRC with Loveppears, Rainbow, Memorial Address and LS on the way (as well as her upcoming tour)^_^

I have just recently listend to all of Loveppears and it potentially could become one of my favourite albums by her, Whatever, PSII, Immature and Love refrain to name just a few are great songs. I love the whole dark/club atmosphere the album has^_^

waterballoon 20th April 2011 03:17 AM

LOVEppears is 1 of her best albums... I think it's really J-Pop in its era, yet with the really unique sound of Ayu's music... lovely

love in music 20th April 2011 03:19 AM

definitely in my bottom 5. many bad songs and horrible vocals.

truehappiness 20th April 2011 06:57 PM

Probably somewhere around the middle?

I like all of Ayu's albums, but I have a tendency to place her NORMALLY HOLY TRINITY [LOVEppears, Duty, I am...] lower than albums that I REALLY love. Each of those albums are albums that fans really responded to during her peak. Any one of them can be found at the top of someone's favorite Ayu album ranking.

Now that I think about it, it's hard to give any single album the ~bottom~ treatment since they all have their good qualities to me. Could I just say NFN goes on the bottom and be over with it? Haha~

xLitax 20th April 2011 09:01 PM

I would put it in my top five. But, I really like nineties sounding songs, which is probably a reason.

ownsarai 20th April 2011 09:14 PM

It's not my all time favorite album but it does have a lot of her popular staple songs. My favorite song on the whole album would probably be P.S II, I just love it.

Huaka 21st April 2011 04:32 AM

If you like dance-y songs and don't mind her older high pitched voice, you'll love this album. It's one of my favorites! Plus the goodies on the free extra disc are awesome. =).

I Agree with this. The only way I can rank her albums is to count the number of tracks I don't listen to that much, the few I don't care for (less than 5 in total... which is embarrasing!) and then count the number of songs I like + overall execution. To me that makes miss understodd end up as the bottom one, even if I love most of the single tracks and a couple of the album tracks.. I usually really like at least 60% or more of the tracks on each album she released... It's so strange..
