Britney's Comeback Song?

So, I was thinking about this in the shower today... there have been for different instances where Britney's latest release has been considered her comeback after her breakdown, Gimme More from the Blackout era, Womanizer from the Circus era, 3 when her Singles Collection was released, and now with the release of Femme Fatale's Hold It Against Me. :thud

So, my question is, which song/era is really the comeback?

I would say Gimme More/Blackout, because it was the first time after her breakdown she was noticed posetively.

Womanizer/Circus

Hold It Against Me/Femme Fatale

I get the feeling no one is gonna vote for 3.

Musically she never "came back" IMO.

that was the first thing I thought when I saw the thread title actually, and I doubt if she'll ever be back again, for me at least.

Its really the circus album. I know she said she was fine when she was doing her black out stuff, but come on people.. She was STILL crazy!!

We all now that cracked out Brit Brit does amazing music... buts its just not good for her.. lol

Circus is so far my favorite album by Britney!

Musically
I'd say she has/did (with Womanizer), but in every other aspect, no. She doesn't have the spunk or the dancing ability anymore. I mean, since she never sings live, that's basically all she had going for her. Now that those are long gone, it's just not the same. Womanizer was a great comeback though, even if I don't think it's near her full potential. I feel the true Britney that we all loved in the first place will never come back.

she's still releasing music but the old Britney seems never come back anymore.

I guess Womanizer is her closest one

C+R+E+AYUMI 19th April 2011 12:56 PM

I like womanizer the most

When I say comeback, I am talking about media hype, not if she really did. I just noticed for promotions all four eras have been called "comebacks". Which album lived up best to the media hype?

koumori 19th April 2011 11:20 PM

^ In that context, I'd say her Circus era.

Gimme More OF COURSE. "It's Britney, ********!", that famous line marks her comeback. STFU ********es, it's Britney Queen! :P

Definitely Womanizer/Circus. Technically Gimme More/Blackout was the comeback but it was half hearted, etc and Gimme More wasn't even that popular. She kind of skyrocketed back with people during Circus, and Womanizer even made it to #1, right?

I wish they'd stop referring to every new release as her "comeback" though. She's been back for a while now.

I agree with everything you just said. Except, I'm not too sure about the popularity of Gimme More. I don't know how well the song did, but I do know that the album went to #2. That being said, its her lowest charting album as all the others went to #1. So, idk.

The media - and people in general - were still looking too closely at Britney's mental welfare than the music when Gimme More/Blackout was released. I think it was when Circus was released that she herself was more back to concentrating on her music, and the everyone started taking her seriously again.

Blackout to me personally was her trying too hard to release something to make the whole world believe that she wasn't crazy and that she was fine again.

Womanizer / Circus. This is point in her career where I feel she was in control, the public was into her without being afraid to be, and it wasn't the time where the general public was more interested in more breakdowns and more for her "rebirth".

kumikomishitate 25th April 2011 06:18 AM

I chose Womanizer / Circus but even nowadays I don't feel like she's back. I was watching her "Till The World Ends" performance on Kimmel and then went back to old performance clips (ex. MTV Awards) and it's just rather mediocre now. :(
