Viva la Vida with a Rush of Blood to the Head! It's the 1st Thread of Coldplay!

At least I think it is lol...I looked through like 3 or 4 pages when I searched them so...yeah didn't find anything.

So are there any fans here? I posted a thread like 3 years ago asking if people were gonna buy Viva la Vida when it was first released. As I recall, I got some replies soooo.....let's converse!!!

They've actually remained my favorite band for the past 9 years. Their music is so beautiful & meaningful. I find it very nostalgic as well as haunting. I think my favorite album so far is A Rush of Blood to the Head. It was my first album I listened to from them & it left such a lasting impression :heart.

The fact that we didn't already have a Coldplay thread in here makes me SAD :( I mean, omg. I was never really a huge fan until 2006, then I "took a break" I guess, listening more to Ayu. I rediscovered them in 2010, wow. Their best alvum imo is X&Y. It doesn't get any more beautiful than that.

I quite like A Rush Of Blood to the Head too, I remember how much my best friend played that album in 2003 when I went to boarding school.

Memories :heart.

Coldplay :heart I love this band! I have all their albums~ They never get old for me. :) I do love Viva la Vida though, it's just amazing. X&Y is one of my favourite albums that I remember being played all the time by my Mum when I was younger.

Coldplay is :heart.

I really don't care about like, how pretentious people say they are and whatever, they have some GREAT music.

Viva la Vida is honestly my favorite album. I had a Coldplay discography day once...and really, before that album, I only really like their really big songs.

But I love the whole concept for Viva la Vida, and I like the atmosphere of the whole album.

Life in Technicolor :heart

Oh god I love them so much.

Yellow is my uncle's and my song.

@emi

I can't for the love of anything see how their music would seem pretentious to anyone! Coldplay (especially oldschool Coldplay) is the most simple and beautiful thing ever. Their lyrics are not pretentious and sound like they're written to impress instead of to relate to and their melodies are rather simple as well. But I guess, with great success comes a great deal of hatin' too :D I hate it whenever something just slightly mainsteam that I like gets comments such as "overrated" or "I never got them".

Coldplay isn't hard to understand, in any way, for anyone. I think that's why they have so many fans. It's music with lyrics that's about fear, hurt, death, love, melancholy etc. Almost any person on the planet can relate to that.

What did you guys think of the new single/EP? I gotta say, even though I was sceptical I was blown away, again. Slightly more oldschool Coldplay on that one.

Because they're British! :cool

CHE.R.RY 8th August 2011 04:51 AM

^^ Also I think emi meant them as a people...not the music :).

& yes yes! I love how simple their melodies are...yet they leave such an impression! I think my favorite song from them is Amsterdam...I can relate to that song out of any other song they have ever released.

& I was also skeptical about Every Teardrop is a Waterfall but I actually love it. My favorite song on it is Moving to Mars - it's so beautiful.

^yeah~ there's always jokes about how, well particularly Steve, is really full of himself.

like...

:laugh

But anyway, yeah, I mean, they still have great music, and I think they're really great writers.

^ That surprises me actually...the only member of Coldplay that I've heard stuff about was Chris Martin. I've heard he can be a bit bratty xD! I love him though :heart...

emi♡ 8th August 2011 06:54 AM

^no no sorry I meant Chris* I was thinking about Steve Martin too when I wrote that lol

I love him too~ but I think its funny. I loved so much when MadTV would do their parodies lol

CHE.R.RY 8th August 2011 07:49 PM

^ Oh it's np but yeah I got a little confused lol...I didn't remember a Steve :o.

Oh & does anyone know anything about their new album???? On Wiki (which I don't totally trust) they have some songs listed that might be on the album which includes the EP songs, but usually the EPs have at least one b-side. So I doubt the whole thing is gonna be on the album...

Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall
Major Minus
Moving to Mars
Hurts Like Heaven
Charlie Brown
Us Against the World
Princess of China
Mylo Xyloto (Possible album title)
Up With the Birds
Up in Flames

I'm curious as to what Charlie Brown & Mylo Xyloto would sound like.

zellyx 9th August 2011 05:12 AM

Oh Sweet Mother of anything, have mercy! That is just the way you're supposed to use instruments. And Chris' vocals *dies*

It's got that great, emotional buildup that reminds me of Clocks.

koumori 9th August 2011 05:31 PM

Just listened to Charlie Brown, it's so beautiful~ :heart They never do wrong in my book :weep

It reminds me of Life in Technicolor II! I love it!

zellyx 9th August 2011 06:50 PM

I love it so much.. There's a full stream of Coldplay at Lollapalooza and you can hear a few of their new songs like Hurts Like Heaven!

I'll admit I wasn't really a fan of the new songs like Every Tear is a Waterfall, but they've grown on me.

emi♡ 9th August 2011 11:28 PM

god I could listen to his voice forever.
