Where did they get that number for poker face? xD and why Ayuni Hamasati & Utanda Hikaru are there, but Kota Kami is not. lol

Mari-chan 11th February 2012 02:02 PM

Ahh.. I didn't watched it. But I don't thought, they will show something about J-Pop. I'm really wondering.
But.. they don't really showed much about J-Pop. The titel of the show was something with the biggest Worldhits.... I think, they showed the same Videos, they always do. Did a japanese band or singer had somewhere a position in the ranking? Or was it only that short part?
The part with the bucked was really unnecessary.I really have no idea, why german TV always show such things about japan. Only, to show, that japanese are all crazy.. or what?

isthisLOL? 11th February 2012 02:19 PM

Typical RTL. They have always been the channel for the lowest of the lowest. I know a TV host that used to work there(he also worked for Pro7 and Sat1, amongst others, he's in Primetime), apparently they don't even try to get information right because they figure noone will care anyways.

Mai82Go 11th February 2012 04:29 PM

^They present it like this because they think no one cares about those obscure japanese people anyway and they are right - the average RTL viewer does not care. I think that television is over anyway. And RTL 2 is even worse.

"Japan isn't the biggest country but their music market is extremely big. Next to traditional japanese tunes it's ruled mainly by Jpop. (Text at the bottom: Ayumi hamasaki is known as the empress of japanese pop - short: jpop. Her debut single poker face sold 50 mio. copies in japan alone.) Combatant Hikaru UTANDA isn't less succesfull. To date she sold 52 mio cds. Next to Jpop also japanese folk music is very popular, too. (Text at the bottom: Hikawa Kiyoshi is celebrate es Hansi Hinterseer of Japan) But also German rock artists get recognized in Japan. (Text at the bottom: The Scorpions even recorded the japanese folk song "Kojo no Tskui")."
It then just talks about how Nena, Scooter and Tokio Hotel charted in Japan and kinda mock japanese karaoke.

Note: Quick translation. *Hansi Hinterseer is a well know singer of folk music in germany.

No, there weren't any japanese titles in the list because they took only hits from "Germany", "USA" and "Great Britain" to finish the list. ^^
The whole show is really a shame for german television :P

It's the same with all those American "the biggest hits/artists of all time!!!" shows practically only counting what charted in the US xD Especially VH1 does that a lot. They got a poll running right now for the greatest female artists of all time and there's people nobody knows in there, there's people that only got popular 2 or 3 years ago, but there is NO music legend that hasn't been hugely succesful in America. Mylene Farmer, Ayumi, Utada, Ivete Sangalo...all missing and all definitely more legendary than Rihanna or Kesha. xD

channy 11th February 2012 06:44 PM

I remember the "Summer of Pop Queens" or something (ARTE, german TV). Almost all of them were american singers and I wondered "Is USA the only country in this world having extremely successful pop artists?". Of course not. But nonetheless ARTE didn't care for other so called pop queens that sell millions of CDs o.o

isthisLOL? 11th February 2012 06:50 PM

Even ARTE didn't care? Aren't they a multi-national thing?

Mai82Go 11th February 2012 07:38 PM

Arte is french/german based so it's not really surprising they didn't mention the Asian Ladies either.

isthisLOL? 11th February 2012 07:56 PM

Yeah but I'd expect them to at least mention people like Mylene Farmer. I mean...she's THE European Pop Queen if you ignore the UK(since the UK can simply export their artists to anywhere in the world and easily chart everywhere)

i had to laugh after watching the video LOL

that's why i'm not watching german television it's so dull!!!

Chibi-Chan 12th February 2012 05:28 PM

Year.... my brother also told me about it.
A friend of mine, also said something real true thing. If you would show in a foreign country something about Germany... and they only show guy's on their "Jungesellenabschied" (What is it in english.. Bachlor-Good-Bye-Party?) this people also would think, german are all crazy... like the part with the buckeds on the head. So.. much people in Germany think.. "look at this japanese.. they are all crazy." But ok.. RTL... what should I say?
