Japanese Radio Online??

Does anyone know of a GOOD online Japanese radio station / link to listen to? Something that plays current music, mixed with some old. I know Japan-A-Radio but it isn't the most current or best station I feel like. The songs are just so random. Something in good quality as well, not some low quality stream.

I discovered SBS PopAsia but it's like 99% Korean boybands or ghetto type songs and I'm not really about that. Plus it's all the same songs like all the time. Any recommendations? I find it hard to believe there isn't some sort of high quality station out there that plays current material.

You know, i've tried looking for Japanese radio online, like tokyo fm, and I always get the same awful responses
「サービス地域外のためラジオを聴くことができません」

"Due to being outside the service area, you cannot listen to the radio." or something unsavoury like that.

BUT i found this: http://tunein.com/radio/Japanese-g151/

I found that too and Japan-A-Radio is listed first. Another problem is, there are a lot listed there and I just want to know the best one. It seems the stations I have listened to don't have a "style" as most regular radio stations do. For example: in the U.S. there is a radio station for POP/TOP40, COUNTRY, HARD ROCK, 80's, etc... Well, most of the "JPOP" radio stations on the internet seem to just throw EVERY SINGLE JAPANESE SONG EVER MADE (regardless of style/genre) into ONE STATION... Could you imagine if there was a radio station with every single English song thrown into a playlist... I just want something with a little more organization / taste. Something that caters to certain genres. Or at least the equivalent to a TOP40 JPOP radio station... You know?

Like right now on Japan-A-Radio, they played Gackt and now they are playing some weird classical music that could be the background track in a Disney animated cartoon from the Golden Ages.

live365.com has lots of radio stations, you might be able to find something you like there. It's not the best quality and there are commercials, but it's worth a try They're user-made stations.

I was at turntable.fm for a while.

but everything depends on who uploads what and who's DJing...and the fact that there aren't that many asian music people.

i use ooTunes on my iPhone and there are several stations there:

XAMFM www.xamfm.com
91.8FM The Fan 24/7 www.918thefan.com
ASIA HITZ www.HKGFM.net
MUMIX Radio J-Pop www.mumix.net/radio

i'm sure you can probably use those online too, though i haven't tried.

I've been listening to Radio Shonan for over two months now, yet I'm in Seattle! Here's why - SimulRadio has it, and it can be broadcasted not only in Japan but all around the world... But this has stations that might be unfamiliar (this is community radio, targeted to a particular demographic); however, I was able to listen to a number of Japanese pop hits, and even earlier this week I heard SCANDAL's new song "Taiyou Scandalous" on Radio Shonan earlier this week!

And, Zeke, there's also popular hits from the past, and maybe a mix of Western music as well.

I use live365 too, it has sooo many different stations, some are better than others, but I've never failed in finding good stuff there. :)
