The Love I Lost (East West)

I have "found" a remix of "Connected" on my HDD called "The Love I Lost (Robert Nickson Remix)", runtime 08:09 min. I then googled and got this text off discogs.com:

Quote:

This (Connected) was originally a track that Ferry Corsten created that was named "The Love I Lost" under the alias "East West". Ferry played it out on sets often and many was anticipating it's release, but it never was released in it's original form.

Later on Ferry went on to collaborate with Japanese singer Ayumi Hamasaki. Ferry altered the riff for "The Love I Lost" and let Ms. Hamasaki sing on the track. The end result was this track called "Connected". It first ended up on Ms. Hamasaki's 4th album, and later on a extended version was released on "The Very Best Of Ferry Corsten", A compilation that was meant for the Japanese & Asian market.
You may already knew this, but I did not... :3

Then I found this version of "The Love I Lost" on YouTube:

It has been released on this vinyl: Out Of The Blue / The Love I Lost

I haven't heard those songs before, the Robert Nickson Remix and the so called Corsten Mix of The Love I Lost.

Has anyone a clue where to download the Ferry Corsten vinyl cause I have never seen a download for it before and maybe a compilation album etc of Robert Nickson remixes with "The Love I Lost" on it?

I'm fairly certain no one ever went to get that vinyl because it has nothing to do with Ayu, and it's a western release when it comes to here at AHS.

I mean, I guess it has to do with her cause it's like Connected instrumental...but meh. That youtube version should be the version that's on the vinyl.

Maybe you should ask the uploader on youtube, if he could share that record. He's got Out of the Blue up too, where he says that The Love I Lost is on the other side.

channy, can you upload the remix that you have? I'd love to have it.

From Deli's beatfreak translation.

3 "Connected" (Music,Arrangement/Ferry Corsten)

When I first heard this song, I thought, it's a trance song, the synthesizer is working overtime, there's no way I could do a fusion with this. I thought, I don't even speak English very well, surely someone else, not Ayu, would be better for a trance collaboration? But Ferry (Corsten, "system F") made a very strong approach, saying "I want you to write lyrics for this no matter what!" So I thought, "Well, may as well, right?" and for this song, I was transmitting a message as an outsider, and I didn't feel like I was working on writing lyrics, it was more of a comfortable, "writing a letter to a friend" feeling, and it was nice.
So then, it became a letter I was writing to Ferry, but I was thinking "how can I make it Ayu-style," and I thought maybe "wordplay," or "japaneseplay," would be good.
"I discover (MITSUKETE)," "I stare (MITSUMETE)," "I make sure (MISADAMETE)" and so on with other such similar words make it feel like a thesaurus has been opened up. But I got to thinking there'd just be too much to do... (bitter smile)
I was just packing it so full of words with the same sound, and I had to put the words that I chose in an order that made the lyrics comprehensible.
I think once you hear Ferry's song with the vocals inserted, you can hear that I'm repeating the same thing. Anyway, as for the lyrics, I thought I heard the staff who could understand Japanese going "What is she saying?" So I wrote the chorus section to say, "We are all connected at each and every place, so when you're thinking of these words, I already am too." When you understand the answer to "What is this?," the meaning of the words, it's that even though Ayu is far away in Japan, she's still connected to you!
In the end, there wasn't really an excited feeling of "let's get these vocals done!" Since the synthesizer's sound was very inorganic, I thought it would be best to sing in a more expressionless manner, which was a challenge.
Ferry approached Ayu, it seems.

The particular 12" that this track is on is actually ridiculously rare. No one's ripped it because no one has it. Various releases include "Out of the Blue," too, so it's not like the A-side makes this 12" all that desirable, so my guess is that not many people have gone out of their way to buy it now that an extended instrumental of "Connected" has been released. It's doubtful we'll ever get a hold of it, but heaven knows I check the discogs marketplace and musicstack whenever I have extra money, now that I have my turntable.

The YouTube link in the first post leads to the version of "The Love I Lost" found on this rare vinyl. At least it says in the description that this is from the 12" vinyl. So I downloaded the video and ripped the audio in best possible quality with XMedia Recode.

Also I figured out that the version of "Out Of The Blue" (on the same YouTube channel) probably is not the actual 12" vinyl version because the runtime is over 7 minutes (discogs declares 06:41 min). I googled (again ._.) and found a version of "Out Of The Blue" that apparently comes from the same vinyl as "The Love I Lost".

So virtually I have a rip of this rare record, not a proper one, but at least something.

I am not sure if it is against AHS rules to upload it, whereas this release has been fabricated for the Western market, more precisely for the UK as far as I can take information off of discogs.

In case this upload would meet the standards of AHS rules I could put it into the download section but someone has to create a mirror since I don't hold such Western uploads on my MediaFire account for long (yes, I'm paranoid ┐﴾ͼ.ͽ﴿┌ ...)

Let me know.

Yes, I would add it to the upload of the 12" vinyl then.
