Converting Japan Clothing Sizes to US

OK so I wanted to purchase a t-shirt at YesAsia...size small. I'm just not sure if the small will be took big for me. These are the measurements:

【サイズ】身幅約495mm×着丈約640mm×袖丈190mm
【素材】ポリエステル100%
【原産国】■ボディ:中国 ■プリント:日本

I'm 5'5, 135lbs, have a 29" waist, and usually wear an XS when it comes to t-shirts. I like my t-shirts form-fitting. So would this be for me?

Thanks for any help guys :)

^ do you have a link to the shirt?

I know sometimes they do sizes in cm... but I dont think I have ever seen mm??

But they usually give you the shoulder, chest, and total length.

so you would have to measure your chest and shoulder to see how forum fitting it is for you.

Here's a link:

That chart means nothing to me...lol I'm slow sometimes :(

TeamAyu2004 3rd September 2012 04:28 AM

^ lol... well if you measure you chest/waist/height and match those numbers up with the chart.

it says for a small:
chest: 86-92
waist: 76-81
height: 165-175

all that is in CM... you will have to convert your numbers to mm

I just measured:

Chest: 89cm
Waist: 83cm
Height: 165cm

So I guess...that means it would pretty much fit me, right?

TeamAyu2004 3rd September 2012 05:22 AM

It seems like it would fit...
It might be just a little snug...
You could always get a M and shrink it in the wash...
I think their 100% cotton?

Pieces_of_SEVEN 3rd September 2012 05:38 AM

nahhh I LOVE snug and form-fitting t-shirts. only way I'll wear them! :)

TeamAyu2004 3rd September 2012 05:45 AM

^ lol... I hate that feeling...
but whatever works for you! I think it should fit you, but I guess there is only one way to really find out. (order it :p)

I was looking for some shirts on there, and sadly I dont think any will fit me!
I'm so tall!!! and big! lol.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 3rd September 2012 05:48 AM

Yeah, I think I'm gonna, just didn't wanna waste $20 on something that doesn't fit lol

TeamAyu2004 3rd September 2012 05:58 AM

well if anything... the average Japanese man is pretty small... around 5'5...
and you seem pretty fit...

still, you can always get the M and just shrink it.

They're designed pretty loose, as they're meant to fit a wide variety of people. They're a normal fit, I'd say. Unless you are in fact muscular, her newer tour shirts probably won't be super fitted.

Her older shirts, up until NEXT LEVEL tour, were much tighter and the fabric was much thicker. Also, the length of the shirt was shorter.

But after NL tour, all the shirts dimensions and fabric changed.

This shirt in particular is 100% polyester. It sort of has a mesh kind of look to it? It's not mesh per se, but that's what it makes me think of haha.

It actually reminds me of workout wear more than anything.

^Thanks for that info! Sounds like I should try to get something from before the NEXT LEVEL tour...although I'm sure that will be difficult and expensive. lol
