Japanese Hip Hop/Rap/R&B artists
 

Okay, so hip-hop has become my favorite genre. I always just liked 90s hip hop but I've grown to love modern stuff as well.

So I was wondering what R&B or Hip Hop Japanese artists you guys like and reccomend. Or if you don't like any, at least tell me who's big in Japan right now, or who used to be big.

I only know Shota Shimizu. Lol and Namie if she counts.

Here're some R&B + Rap artistes that I personally like/listen/support

R&B :

- Aoyama Thelma ; if you look past her only well known hit to date Soba ni Iru ne , her discography is actually quite solid , especially her upbeat no.s
- BENI
- JASMINE
- Kato Miliyah
- Kuroki Meisa ; I don't know if she's counted as R&B ? I think so haha if not it will be edgy pop
- Matsushita Yuya
- Suga Shikao ; he's more towards soul & funk but from time to time he incorporates R&B in his stuff

Rap :

- Hilcrhyme
- SEAMO ; I like the duet ROCK THIS WAY that he did with SPYAIR last year . Classic case of Rap meets Rock :heart
- SHUN ; not the 1 whom left EXILE , this SHUN is much more younger lol

Crystal Kay (although her newer stuff is much more pop)

The old Halcali.
Their first 3 albums are OK.

Hiromi, AI, Emi Maria. First ones I can think of.. all 3 great R&B artists

Sayuri Sugawara...she's R&B. But she's also doing a mix of pop-rock recently...

hiromi is pure R&B.



tbh, people in this category of artist don't tend to ever be "big" in Japan. At least not the girls.
