So is Ayu releasing new material soon or what?

It seems like ages since we've received something from her. A proper release, be it mini-album, single, or full album. It feels almost as if Tell All never happened. So, is she recording new material? I don't recall if she had dropped hints about the studio or not. I remember their being hints of something in the works as her "15 Anni" is not yet over, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that being something extravagant; it anything is certain, it's the fact that avex has for many years, and will continue to do so, hyped up Ayu projects and releases only for the results to be slightly disappointing...

Well, I already said this somewhere else, but I happen to be happy about this "pause" of hers. Precisely because the previous stuff was mostly very good, but badly released in my opinion (which kind of poisoned the songs to me for a while), I'd like for Ayu to take it slow this time. Whatever comes next, I hope she cures every detail of it like I know she can do so well!

pimenta 23rd September 2013 08:57 PM

She probably is, she stated in the Numero Tokyo interview that, in return of all the favors and support she received during these past 15 years, she'll spend the rest of her 15th anniversary producing great music :D
But she also said that there's nothing concrete right now, so what exactly she is planning on releasing and when I have no idea...

truehappiness 23rd September 2013 09:03 PM

Of course she's going to be releasing new material soon. (it was one of the 5-release project prizes to participate on a new song)

Keep in mind that she got the new album out of the way really early on in the year and had 5 (6) releases per month leading into this year, so it's only natural that they'll wait for people's wallets to recover. With the last CD release and upcoming DVD/BD, I think she will likely have something out before 2014 rolls around. Also lately, she doesn't release ANYTHING while she's touring or doing events, and I think those have recently wrapped up with a-nation and the Dream Festival.

Just for comparison....

2011's release pattern:
04/20 - Rock'n'Roll Circus Tour FINAL ~7days Special~ / A 50 Singles / ayu-mi-x 7 x 4 (tons of Blu-ray reissues later too)
08/24 - COUNTDOWN LIVE 2011-2012 ~do it again~
08/31 - FIVE

2012's release pattern:
01/01 - A CLIP BOX
03/21 - Party Queen / tons of PLAYBUTTONS
03/28 - POWER of MUSIC 2011 A
08/08 - A SUMMER BEST
08/31 - HEART NAIL BOOK
11/08 - LOVE
12/08 - again

2013's release pattern:
01/08 - A Classical
02/08 - LOVE again
03/08 - ARENA TOUR 2012 ~HOTEL Love songs~
04/08 - COUNTDOWN LIVE 2012-2013 A ~WAKE UP~
09/18 - 15th Anniversary TOUR A BEST LIVE CD
10/30 - 15th Anniversary TOUR A BEST LIVE
? ? ?

I think people ran out of money when LOVE again rolled around, and there was that whole Maro thing too.

Delirium-Zer0 24th September 2013 02:46 AM

She did say she was going into the studio after the tour was over, so I'm sure there'll be something soon :)

Bigtop 24th September 2013 05:06 AM

Yeah, we thought she's doing it...but maybe another studio album??? We still haven't had a physical single in THREE years!!! 36 months already and no singles - mini-albums that look like singles, two full albums, and A SUMMER BEST!

truehappiness 24th September 2013 05:17 AM

L was probably her last single. I believe that was probably one of the meanings of L.

Surreal17 24th September 2013 09:52 AM

I think she is done with releasing singles :boom (don't know why people still insist 'bout this thing) but a new album may be on the way.I'm really eager for new songs from ayu even if her music is still kinda "new" to me (almost two years of fandom)

Ugh. I was afraid that this is the case. What is the meaning of L exactly?

If having only 50 singles means that much to her, then yeah okay whatever. I just think it's weird for a Japanese singer to produce only albums and no single (wouldn't that be economically less profitable, too?).

:(

truehappiness 24th September 2013 11:22 AM

L has many meanings.

L = 50 in roman numerals.

L = LOVE.

But L can also mean "Last". I believe it was also called her 'last fortress' or 'saigo no toride' or something. (さいごの砦)

pimenta 24th September 2013 01:14 PM

I guess she just changed her mind about releases. She did say on her last interviews that she no longer wants to release new songs just for the sake of releasing constantly, and I guess she was referring mostly to singles. She said she'll produce new songs on her own peace and when she feels it's ready for an album, she'll release one. So I guess L was really her last single... Or at least her last physical one. I do hope she'll keep releasing occasional digital singles though, whenever she feels like releasing a new song :)

Yoake 24th September 2013 02:14 PM

^It possible to have digital single again. After all, HBYA was released as a digital single. I don't mind to get only album now. My wallet'll be happy. ^^
I'm just waiting patiently that Ayu gives us new songs. & I don't mind if she take a lot of time to do it. Ayu must be happy with her creation. It's the most important.

She still is releasing singles. They're just being labeled as mini-albums.

Touche.

spanishfan 24th September 2013 05:14 PM

She said after a-nation, she'll be back to studio.
Maybe she've already record a new full album lol

I think she could still do singles...it just means that they won't be as frequent as before...if at all. But I got so used to the frequent pattern of single, single, single, album. lol us ayu fans are so spoiled. It hasn't even been six months since Tell all (which is PHENOMENAL), but I'm sooooo hoping for a new single announcement soon~!

YUKARI 25th September 2013 02:31 PM

I don't lose hope that she'll release a new single someday and be back on TV. I literally see their saying "Hamasaki Ayumi with the first single in 5 years!!!". Sounds crazy for Japanese show-business )

Kazeyomi 25th September 2013 03:11 PM

Didn't she said, she won't release singles anymore because she prefer to put all the songs into a studio album, now?
I think I read it somewhere here, maybe I'm wrong though lol.

To be honest, I'm happy she isn't planning to release music anytime soon. It makes me appreciate her music much more than before. In other hand, it makes me nostalgic as well :laugh

TeamAyu2004 25th September 2013 04:18 PM

She's still alive yes?
Then of course! lol. I think someone she said that she would be making new music after anation?
