whatever version m and version j

I got my copy of LOVEppears today (with a nice big crack in the box and the mispelled poster) and I was talking to Calico about 'Whatever', because Divine Ayu has the single on it and the discography says

Version M
Version J

She told me the version she had was like "Samba" and the one I've heard is techno, the "Dubs 1999 Remix"

How many different versions of this song are there? The samba one in my opinion SUCKS. I've always heard the 1999 remix, and I'm thinking hers is a remix but I dunno which one.

Assistance? My main question is the difference between version M and version J

ImpactBreaker 4th December 2003 12:46 AM

The M version is more mystical and a bit tranceish/techno (almost like the dub's 1999 with a few slight differences). The J version is poppish and was probably meant to be the original version.

Unimatrix Prime™ 4th December 2003 12:49 AM

V-Stuff seems to list these tracks as the different "Whatever" versions:

WHATEVER (version J) --- mixed by Atsushi Hattori
WHATEVER (version J - Instrumental) --- mixed by Atsushi Hattori
WHATEVER (version M) --- mixed by Izumi (DMX) Miyazaki
WHATEVER (version M - Instrumental) --- mixed by Izumi (DMX) Miyazaki
WHATEVER (Ferry 'System F' Corsten Dub mix) --- remixed by System F
WHATEVER (Ferry 'System F' Corsten Non Vox extended mix) --- remixed by System F
WHATEVER (Ferry 'System F' Corsten Vocal extended mix) --- remixed by System F
WHATEVER (Ferry 'System F' Corsten Radio Mix) --- remixed by System F
WHATEVER (FPM's WINTER BOSSA) --- remixed by Tomoyuki Tanaka
WHATEVER (Sentimental Mix)

---------------------

Whatever (Version M) was the version from the PV, in case you're wondering.

Version J is more like a ballad, and it's slower and sentimental compared to Version M, that one is actually quite sad when listening... T_T

Nu-NRG 7th December 2003 01:51 AM

oh i have a question bout the WHATEVER 'FERRY 'SYSTEM F' CORSTEN DUB MIX' song from the appears single

i don't know why is near 9 sec
when ayu sing nagakatta yo, mou sukoshi de, kogoesou de me wo tojiteta-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a than there's glitch like a skip
i've been thinkin for a long time is there suppose to be like that
but that don't sound normal to me.....

sounds like when ur disc have a scratch and when u play it
u can hear it skip

Unimatrix Prime™ 7th December 2003 02:10 AM

I'm quite sure that the "skip" is part of the song and not a mistake :)

Calico 7th December 2003 05:32 AM

Well, all I know is that my version is very very bad, like Bishoujo Ayumi said. XD

I'm sure it has to be a remix. And I've never heard any other version, to compare. Let's see...it is very samba-y. x.x And....

6 minutes 51 seconds if that helps.

So many "la la las" x.x

ImpactBreaker 7th December 2003 08:52 AM

The samba version is the FPM WINTER BOSSA

Calico 7th December 2003 09:16 AM

Ah, thank you. I can finally give the blasted thing a name then. >:]

hanabiwings 7th December 2003 09:20 AM

I assumed that since both j and m were released on the single, there wasn't an "official" original version. Also, ayu sings verison M when she's on stage. I've only seen version j one time on a music show live.

The reason I consider the version J the original is because it was arranged by the same person who arranged all of her previous songs, while version M was remixed by Izumi (DMX) Miyazaki, very well know because of the various remix done by him that always begins with "Dub 'something'"

Kaiousei 10th December 2003 05:20 AM

what is this infamous "Hamamsaki" poster?

Nu-NRG 12th December 2003 03:23 PM

the "hamamsaki" poster(is not a really big one tho) is from the LOVEppears album
u should have it if u got the album
