why ayu no longer CREAtes her own songs?

Sorry for the title, my bad, really.
Why doesn't ayu compose her songs anymore? What do you think?
She just dropped CREA at some point and I know that we all miss those songs she composed by herself.

I also miss CREA. I would love another Dolls. But even if she doesn't compose her songs anymore, ayu is still the one who does the final touch of the songs. And when I say this, I'm not talking about the main composition. I mean, she chooses whatever instruments she wants for her songs (for example "Sending mail" - this song was not meant to be a rock song, but ayu decided to add the drums because she felt that the lyrics would match better this way) she chooses the genres, she writes the lyrics and she probably comes up with the titles too. So, without these things, those compositions wouldn't become ayu songs, if you get what I wanted to say.

She must still compose when she has ideas but she has not enough confidence in herself she said several time "that's better to leave it to the professionals" ! Personally I think doing songs autodidactically is good too ! It's what she done on I am ..., Rainbow etc... ! People can argue that's thanks to her arrangers that these songs are good but still the composition is the basis of a song and to me she demonstrated a great creativity =)

And like Surreal17 says even if she is not credited as composer or arrangers or even produceur because she has too much respect for Max ... we all know she is not the type of singer who just puts her voice on the record ! Maybe one day we will be surprised to see CREA come back lol with all these years of experiences she must have accumulated more knowledge about that !

There's no denying that she creates her own songs, even if she doesn't compose them. Like Surreal17 explained perfectly, lol.
I need CREA to return! What Ayu did back then under that pseudonym was so unique. No doubt she still has a lot to give.
I have no clue about why she stopped composing. Maybe it's like someone said, she is not confident in her own skills on that aspect anymore, or she "learnt to trust others" like she puts it. Or she simply isn't inspired when it comes to composing anymore.

She still composes as far as I know, but the songs often do not make it against other tracks when they are 'finalizing' what will be a single or on an album.

tsumekaze_ 13th February 2014 10:11 PM

I can see what you mean, I think it's like that as well, I mean, she might be provided with the base but then she works a lot on it to make it her own. I was very impressed when we got the video from TA for feel the love when she gives directions like "try to put this here" and things like that. I didn't know that anectode about sending mail, very interesting, given that I LOVE that song because of how rocky it is♥ thanks!
Still it's a pity she doesn't create anymore under the pseudonym CREA but reading what all of you wrote I ended up thinking that CREA IS still somewhat the "composer" of those songs, because crea is ayu. It's really not credited but she contributes a lot. This kinda feeling.

Really? poor ayu in that case LOL. When did you get this info? it's really interesting if that's really the case!

If I remember well one of her "CREA" song was expected to be released in 2009 instead of Rule or Sparkle ? someone can confirm this ??

NintendoHTF1242 14th February 2014 03:05 AM

omg the thread title lmfao!

And I was thinking the same thing when I was listening to "I am...", M is such a great song. I really wish CREA would make another appearance.

That's what I was remembering as well. It was in her TeamAyu diaries around that time period... she said she made a song but it ended up not being used.

I didn't think the song-making process would be so tedious until I read somewhere that over 50 melodies were composed for M and Ayu was not satisfied so she composed her own.

tenshi no hane 14th February 2014 07:43 AM

^ Yeah, she mentions that in her 2001 Rockin' On Japan interview:

Quote:

(S) Could you tell me how it started to the release of the song, "M"?
(A) When we make a single, usually the producer listens to the melodies first. How many was it? Maybe about fifty. He selects twenty or thirty among them and passes them to Ayu. And Ayu selects one, changes some parts and decide the composition. But in this case, any melodies didn't appeal to me. I realized in some part of my mind that it was not the fault of the melodies but I should do it, I should write the melody for myself. And I bought a keyboard suddenly. But I couldn't use it well at all at first. I use Pigeon, but couldn't use it at all and recorded my voice to the tape-recorder alone as "La la la …"
(translation thanks to masa)

^turns out that lalalas became one of the most prolific songs in japanese music history.

but i have to agree. all the songs under CREA are arguably the best in her entire career

A Loon 14th February 2014 02:49 PM

I hope she surprises us sometime in the future with an album titled CREAtivity. Imagine that. Full album, CREA only. *daydreaming*

tsumekaze_ 14th February 2014 05:55 PM

^ urgh I'd love that. XD
You all know a lot of interesting things, I had no idea. The producing process must be very though. I WANT THAT 2009 CREA SONG THO. even though I love rule/sparkle.
