What songs always bring you back to Ayu?

I know that a lot of us have one or two very specific favorite songs by Ayu, but what about the ones that catch you by surprise, and make you fall back into her music? It can be old or new, doesn't matter.

I've found as of late, there's a few that draw me back to Ayu's older music- too late and Duty being the main culprits. I never was a bit fan of them when I first listened to them, but they grew on me over time. XOXO and tell me why are good songs for me too- they have the old flare I'm familiar with, but it's a new touch and I super love that.

What about you guys?

I feel like generally my opinions of Ayu songs do not change dramatically. There are not a ton of her songs that just don't resonate with me, and the ones that don't...it would take a lot to change that. That said, there are probably ones that I would find to be OK or nice album tracks, but not necessarily be drawn to that I eventually find a love for. Live performances are another story though, and sometimes changed arrangements can really change my feelings to a song (I always liked Love Songs, but the album version sounds hollow to me now compared to the lives).

For me, I think certain songs resonate more if I'm in a certain head-space. I was never a big fan of Untitled~for her~ but I remember after my father died, I watched her concert performance of it, and suddenly it just hit me and suddenly all the dots connected and it made sense. Out of Control, and to a lesser extent, Anything for You, also become really stand-out songs to me at that time.

i have to say that im overwhelmed by a few songs, which do travel with me wherever i go.
together when..., virgin road, poker face and next level.

without them, i couldn't stand so many people... hehe

Well this is fun! kinda hard to pick but I'd go for HEAVEN, Days, Song 4 U, and Immature (way too many? haha) Also special mention to Key~eternal tie~, Girlish and Fly High for a more sentimental way, those songs are really special to me :)

Anything from LOVEppears or Duty tbh.

This would be hard for me because I don't really leave Ayu, so nothing can bring me back.
I do go through periods of listening to her very often and then periods of not listening to her. I guess when she releases a new album is when I start listening to her very often, but sometimes I'll have a random craving for her music.:laugh
But songs that remind me of why Ayu is special to me in the first place are songs like: Fly High, Daybreak, Dolls, Together when, ever free, appears, To Be, Jewel, Rainbow, Who, monochrome, Hanabi, immature, Guilty, fated, teddy bear, A Song For xx, Powder Snow, Heartplace, ourselves, alterna.
I guess all the poignant and heartfelt songs it turns out.:yes

SURREAL. That song can draw me back in whenever, make me put it on repeat and get me thirsty for some other great Ayu songs (A Song for xx, Dearest, Dolls, NEXT LEVEL, Walk, Tell me why, fated, no more words, the list goes on...).

Almost every single song on A BEST 2 -BLACK- :D

Last year or so ago I fell completely head over heels for the A BEST version of Trust. Omg I was obsessed! I never cared that much for the original and didn't bother with the A BEST version. But damn it's such a gem! She sings with such conviction.

yamadashun 23rd September 2016 10:42 AM

For me is most songs from A BEST esp ASfxx. I remember repeating it back in March when she re-released the 15th anniversary version.

oaristos 23rd September 2016 01:27 PM

monochrome, A Song for XX, It was.

xLuna&1LOVE 23rd September 2016 01:46 PM

Depends kinda... M, Startin', Real me and End Roll always make me fall in love with her again.

freedreamer 23rd September 2016 02:04 PM

Moments, CAROLS, walking proud, GAME... (yea basically MY STORY album)
Together When..., Sparkle, Love song

Lol this feels like a "List-your-fav-song"...because no matter how much I play them, they will always remind me why I love her music

A Song for ××, Lelio and Trust are the ones that comes to my mind first i haven't listen to her for a while

MeltingCORE 24th September 2016 05:05 PM

When I think of Ayu and want to listen to her again, these songs come to mind... POWDER SNOW, M "Hal's Progress", monochrome, Daybreak, fairyland, The Show Must Go On, Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~, MOON, BRILLANTE, (don't) Leave me alone, Song 4 u, Gloria, and Step by step... I know, it's a lot! And I could probably list more tbh. :D

DonkeyKongRemix 24th September 2016 07:08 PM

Daybreak, Connected, Trust, July 1st, monochrome, and then, ourselves, and BRILLANTE. If it's been a while and I need a whole album to turn to, A BALLADS is a great choice for me.

I can understand this! When my grandmother passed last year, the songs that spoke out to me were (miss)understood and fated. I think that certain scenarios call for certain music, and it doesn't really strike us how important or how sentimental they really are until those scenarios happen. I think it's painful, but also very important and beautiful at the same time.

asongfor96 25th September 2016 03:20 AM

HANABI and Sorrows

vayarose 29th September 2016 03:45 AM
