I listened to her debut album. It's really good!! She has a really distinct style so the album feels very cohesive and it's really solid throughout. I feel like the album also stands out in an interesting way where there's a kind of tension that runs through many of the songs but never really gets released: the songs build up, but she never goes all out in a blaze of explosive rock to release that tension. I'm not saying this as a complaint, it's an interesting feature of the album that kept me focused, she plays with the tension and intensity very well. I would have liked a few more songs that instantly stand out and grab you, but I think the songs that didn't do that have potential to still grow on me. My favourite songs were Round and Around, Nightmare (!!!), Sora no Parade, BANQUET, and Don't Let Me Go.
Also, she's only 18 years old? Damn. Good for her that she's making good music at such a young age, I think this is a debut album she'll be able to look back at with pride later in her life. |
This was... interesting. She doesn't exactly remind me of anyone, and you'd think that'd be a good thing, but it's because she sound so boring I'm dozing out everytime she tries to sing. I'm not being mean or hateful, I love finding new artists and bands and I always hope they do well, even if their music is not for me :)
Has anyone introduced her to Hikki? I think Hikki would like her sound! <3 |

BANQUET is one of my favourite too and the pv is just really well-done. If you didn't watch it yet, just do it! ;) The b-side on her single are great too. If you want them, tell me. I will be happy to share them with you. About Sora no parade I was a bit afraid when I heard the introduction because I thought the sound was closed to anime song (and as it's an ending...) . But finally she succeeded to inject her style into it. That's impressive that so young she has such original style. I'm just unable to name one of her inspirations. |

I hear a man saying 'Good morning mam, can you give this to your daughter?' I walk over to the door to see the kind waiter who brought us breakfast 2 mornings in a row, standing with a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of pink lemonade. On the piece of chocolate it said "Good luck in Music School". This was an act of kindness that I'll never forget. This waiter prepared this up just for me, free of charge and a complete surprise. It brought my hopes up, I felt so happy and somehow it made me realize that I was supposed to be here in LA. This is the best welcome gift to the beginning of my new chapter.
