Ayu: Anything Goes [XXI]
Last topic filled so...
Conversation was about Duty and GUILTY's leopard print. Quote:

I really love Duty's leopard theme.

I do like the symbolism of the leopard Ayu - she's the animal at the zoo that's there to sit pretty in a cage, dressed in a tight outfit and in an opulent room. It almost distracts about one of the bars in the cage being bent, as if she's trying to escape. |
List bing to STEP you for the first time in a while, and I forgot how good it is! The music itself has so many layers to it. The single was pretty perfect imo. The live version of step you has been played out. And made all cute.

I wouldn't agree about the live version though, probably because I always hoped it wouldn't reach that point before I got a chance to hear it live, which I finally did. I think having to watch it constantly via DVD - in that case it may be played out, but I would be happy seeing it every damn year if I could afford to attend her shows annually. |
I can't believe I was auto corrected into "list bing"--wtf lol. "Listening"
I just wish the live version was changed up a bit, much like her other songs that get similar treatments each time they're performed. |

All I wanted to hear Ayu sing when I went to see her was STEP you and I missed out both times. It was basically the first song of hers that I fell in love with (my friend gifted me miss understood when it came out and after being confused by bold and delicious, this was THE song for me). One day!!! |
I guess the premium showcase version was different, more sexy than cute. Step you is my first ever Ayu song, it’ll always have a special place in my little fan heart!
|
I haven't enjoyed the recent Step You performances as much as the AT05 one. I wish she would perform it like that again.
|
I feel a lot of Ayu's legendary tracks from that era got "dumbed down" a lot. Like what the heck is with live Ladies Night? It needs to be rock, not that... thing.

~another night~ is adorable

Well, tomorrow is Ayu's birthday (October 2nd), and she's going to turn 39 years old, but things haven't been really interesting in the world Ayu recently for me, and Ayu's next show is on Wednesday, as she's taking the weekend off...
I still have to wonder - what's with those 'mid-week' (e.g. Wednesday, Thursday) concert dates? It's typical mid-week days, and this is from a singer that used to be big at least 10-15 years ago... Quote:

I wish Ayu's PVs would get some effort nowadays. Last album's PVs were Flower and Mad World but both seemed ... cheap? I wish that she'd funnel her own money to her artistry (and I hate that I'm comparing them) like Taylor Swift does.

I think if she wanted to she would do them 'big', but she chooses to make the concerts 'big' instead.

2017 has to be most boring year of her career, literally so dry.
|
Yeah, it seems Ayu's birthday this year on AHS seems...quiet.
We really miss those good old days of Ayu... (but then again, I came pretty late, like, say, four years after Ayu's peak in 2002, I just joined the Ayu bandwagon in the end of 2006) |
2016 was literally one of her most packed years ever and she has had to deal with her ear stuff in 2017 along with knee problems/surgery. AND SHE'S STILL TOURING A CRAPTON. I do think a release is coming though very soon.

also this year I felt people kind of reconnected with her. at least the western j-pop fanbase, which I'm seeing always talking kindly about her legacy and work, also raving about a-nation recently which is pretty awesome for me. |
