Yellowcard? Something Corporate? Anybody?

Yellowcard
Something Corporate
The Ataris

anyone a fan of these groups? their grrrreat!..!!!! not very famous, but extremely talented. their sound is kind of punk..but not hardcore hangbanging. (yeah yeah, good charlotte-ish)..but BETTER! a lot of their music has a lot of emotion..and their really good..its not hte kind of music you'd get into moshfights with though..haha. i feel like i'm the only one on this planet that listens to them because nobody i know knows them. their so good! since YELLOWCARD isn't too famous, i was in luck to find their cd (ocean avenue) at walmart for only $8.61 ..:) 13 tracks for 8 bucks..not bad! :) everything else i have burned..i highly recommend them if you have not heard of them, give htem a chance! the thing that's unique about YELLOWCARD is that their a punk group that has a violinist! it's a special trait about their music that i love. something corporate has a piano, i believe..other groups (a bit more familiar) that are similar are..

all american rejects
blink 182
billy talent
good charlotte
mest
simple plan
starting line
sum 41

if these aren't "hard" enough for you, more deep punkers i recommend are Die Trying and Linkin Park.

and as for specific songs i recommend..
slick shoes - now is the time
the ataris - in this diary
the starting line - decisions, decisions
something corporate - hurricane/punk rock princess/ashes
sum 41 - the hell song
yellowcard - breathing/only one/way away
lifehouse - breathing

yeah yeah. jerms is a punk..but dl those songs above..dissapointment is unheardof when u talk about these songs! i promise! :) (unless you're a die-hard anti-punker..)

I haven't heard much of their music, but my friend Julaine is a die-hard Yellowcard fan. She was friends with them before they made it bigtime (sounds all cliche but it's true).

paper_doll 3rd January 2004 08:05 PM

I like Sum41. I love Canadian bands *hugs*

jerms 7th January 2004 04:49 AM

well..enough about yellowcard. anybody heard of Something Corporate? their a little more well known then Yellowcard..and their AWESOME!

~Ayanami~ 7th January 2004 05:00 PM

yeh i've heard of something corporate but i've only listened to punk rock princess, which is a great song!:D

MTRLevolution 7th January 2004 06:55 PM

yellowcard rocks. i don't like something corporate. a lot of those bands i've been listening too for years, they're just now getting popular, and to be honest with you, i've grown out of them already, lol.

the good stuff now is harder for me, like saosin, or way soft, like the new amsterdams.

Coelacanth 7th January 2004 11:56 PM

Don't forget ska!!!!

Catch-22 and Sublime :cool

I like the starting line, I like "Best Of Me" and "This Ride"... I kinda dont listen to their album anymore though...

I am a huge blink182 fan!! they are awesome live, their absolute best album is Dude Ranch!! Buy that album now!!!!

As for blink's latest album ... :o I just can't get used to it yet, the sound i soo different and I just dislike it... The lyrics are great, but the music doesn't compliment them... I am kinda sad the way the album turned out... maybe i'll start to like it though :think

Yellowcard are awesome, i havent heard too much from them...

I like Boxcar Racer, I like Tom's voice better than Mark's so I liked it...

I used to love Linkin Park, I grew out of them though... all their songs sound the same...

my friend likes probably all those bands... she likes harder stuff though like Kittie :rolleyes ugh...

Squally 8th January 2004 12:06 AM

Yellowcard's Ocean Avenue CD was the first non-asian cd I've bought in years, lol

Belinda 14th January 2004 04:27 AM

my cousin is a super huge fan of yellowcard, she would probably give her right leg to see them in person, although im not a emo fan myself ^^; they seem pretty cool

jerms 18th January 2004 05:58 AM

Gross. Not even punk at all. More like pop-punk, except crappier and leaning more towards pop music. Most "punk" bands these days are so far from the original punk genre that it's sad. Calling bands like them punk or even pop-punk is a disgrace to the founding fathers of punk. :weep

Anyways, I don't like any of those bands. At all.

:evillaugh

Yvette 18th January 2004 04:41 PM

lol geez ALDONIA and I'd get yelled at all for a little manhating?! :rolleyes lol j/k :laugh

I don't care what kind of music it is, as long as it's not Britney Spears (no offense to jerms) or J.Lo or something like that. I'll listen to anyhting excluding them 2 and country o_o; Anyways, I like "Everything". it speaks to meh! o_o Weird how I've been listening to music like this for no reason lately, and I never saw this thread O_o

yellowcard ain't bad by the way :D

jerms 18th January 2004 05:40 PM

eh. this sure isnt "original punk"..this type of music really doesnt even have a name imo yet, and "punk" is the closest thing to it. but either way, i prefer this type way more. new type of music that i like i guess. it's definitely more powerful, emotional, and the lyrics are way cooler. as for older songs, try "the freshman"..i think it's by nirvana..sad sad song.

Aldonia 18th January 2004 06:53 PM

:shrug I'm not trying to start anything, I'm just saying. I think "punk" died out in the 80s anyway, so yep. :laugh

PS: I like Nirvana. ;) Well, some of their songs anyhoo.

I second that. Emo pwnage forever. Thursday, At The Drive-In, Face Tomorrow.

I used to listen to some punkrock like Bad Religion and Pennywise but I decided that I like hardcore-punk way better. Madball, Better Than A Thousand and stuff.

Pwn.

BTW, it definitely aint real punk, but real punk didnt die out in the 80s either.

Nope, it's not by Nirvana. It's by The Verve Pipe from their album Villians. I agree that these bands aren't really punk. Nothing wrong with them, I like Yellowcard and Something Corporate. But when I think punk, I think of bands like The Clash, The Misfits, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, TSOL, The Vandals, Social Distortion, etc. I read an article about Yellowcard recently and they said that they wanted to bring virtuosity to punk music. In that case, that negates the whole basis of punk which was to make music without really knowing how to play.
