At the request of a member, I've translated this, a part of an interview of "Hamasaki Republic", done on March 14, 2002. Though it's rather an old article, I'm sure this will draw your attention. Because as far as I know, it's only once that she talked about her boyfriend so frankly in an interview.

(Ayumi) As I'm not an epicurean, when I was in love with someone, we often hurt and depended on each other rather than supported each other, which made me tired. My present boyfriend has quite "love & peace" character. He is an epicurean in a good sense and perhaps direct opposite to me. I had avoided such type of people somehow, as I thought we could not understand each other. I thought it was necessary for my boyfriend to realize very well that I felt much pain, for example. But you know, he is rather a type of man who says, "Why do you feel pain in that part?" (Laugh) So I thought first that I could not get along with him. But now I feel it has become comfortable somehow. (Laugh)
(Onozato) I wonder how you could change yourself. I thought that such a type of person repeats hurting and depending on each other through his life, just as in French movies ...
(A) It's a surprise to me, too. I don't know myself why we have been together for such a long time. (Laugh) But he is so pure, which makes me feel it should not be stained. His heart is fully open, always. (Laugh) If Ayu takes 100 steps back, for example, he will take 300 steps forward and pass Ayu. (Laugh) I've come to understand the best in him recently.
(O) Is he a type of man who says something to you earnestly but forgets it when he meets you next time?
(A) (Laugh) But he is not irresponsible at all. He is so earnest at every moment.
