The ReMiX ERA finished?
 

Don't you would love to see the Remix single Era BacK???? I mean singles like Audience and Fly High and Kanariya that would have like 12 remixes and old songs in the same single are now gone!!!!! since I guess the Rainbow ALbum.

Now we have singles like "Moments" wich is a Great song!, but it lacks the "coolness" of singles with lots of remixes.

I beleive that's what made ayu special!!!! Making singles whith lots of remixes!!!

i think maybe they (avex) realized that having that amout of remixes in one single was not the solution, beacuase of the waste of time, money and maybe some of the remixes weren't that good!! or they decide to just keep the remix section for albums like Ayu-mi-X and Ayu-ro.

Now they do things the old fashioned way wich is making singles with just the songs they are promoting at the moment with few but remixed versions.

The "remix era" is long gone, in terms of 10-track singles with several mixes. While there still seems to be the annual remix albums towards the end of the year, the standard of 4-7 track singles was established with Ayu in 2002. Whether Avex wants to save money on hiring remixes, or because they're trying to focus the money on other things (tours, etc), I don't think we'll ever see a single again with more than 7 tracks.

avex cut back on the remixes because it was too expensive, and therefore drained money the company could've used on other artists. In the remix era, ayu acounted for much of avex's spending, which is very dangerous for a company to only concentrate on 1 artist. Imagine what would've happened if ayu stopped selling records and avex was still spending tons of money on her. The company would lose A LOT of money.

avex had tested that same 11-track strategy on day after tomorrow's debut single "faraway" back in August of 2002, yet it didn't work well since sales were still low. Then they switched to DVD single, and it's obvious that the next subject being heavily promoted will be otsuka ai, see if avex has the luck this time.

they should promote big names like ELT/ayumi/DAI

ya tahts how it works here in teh states... it makes sense tho, i mean if they're guaranteed sellers then u might as well put more things that involves them duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

The remixes were dropped because sales weren't justifying the costs. Ayu-mi-x IV sold very little when compared to past sales and it killed off the remix era. It got to expensive to justify the cost

She needs to get another remix done by Above & Beyond and some done by Earthbound.

Maybe then she'll get more popularity?

Yes, it wasn't just those two cd's, it was everything from Duty onwards. I am... missed Duty's sales by over .5 million, even though it had a more popular run-up with the singles. SEASONS marked the highpoint of Ayu single sales (exclude A for the arguement) along with Duty being the peak of original album sales. Avex had a good run with M and Evolution but from then onwards it didn't go so well. Never Ever, Endless Sorrow, Unite!, and Dearest all had good but not great sales. Eurobeat 2 did well but under expectations and so did the trance album.

Also because Ayu was such a big singer, they have to get good remixers and those don't come cheap - getting people like ferry corsten and junkie xl isn't cheap. Think of what happens when you get 8 or so remixers for a single and then an album with them. It isn't cheap. That's why avex was cheap and remixed the remixes together for IV.

Daybreak killed off the point of remixes though, it sold terribly - previous Ayu limited singles flew off the shelves (fly high or appears anyone?) - daybreak is still relatively easy to get last time I checked.

Avex saw the writing on the wall after I am... Ayu's reign at the top had peaked. It's just a downhill slide from there like GLOBE and Amuro. So instead of going down with the titanic aka Ayu, they put their money in other singers hoping for the next big thing as the Ayu-Hikki era was ending just like the god-foresaken TK era (shudder) beforehand. Unluckily for Avex, things haven't panned out the way they want as Ayu still gets her #1 but drops like a rock right after that one week (kinda like Kinki Kids and B'z) but there is no good replacement on the horizon but that is an entirely different debate.

*OT*HEY! not hatin' on TK please, he made some good music :P and makes great trance records. Some real good songs are from him, CAN YOU CELEBRATE and DEPARTURES being just 2 of them.

I loved those singles with 11 tracks. I mean didn't the A single have 14? (or was it 16?) I like a lot of the single remixes better than most the remixes on the albums.. :(

I wonder where are HAL after they break up. Did they made any songs for other artist after that? They won't make another album though...
