Are overseas versions from YesAsia bootlegs?

I heard someone say that sometimes the overseas versions of cds on YesAsia are bootlegs. I don't think they'd sell bootlegs, but I'm curious, because I saw "A Song For XX" Overseas version, and I was thinking about buying it but I don't want a bootleg. :no

like ayumis name is in chinese and some other things....but theyre not bootlegs
i guess A Song for XX didn't have a overseas version out and they just released it...

they dont, but they do sell a wide variety of overseas versions (taiwan, china, singapore, etc.) so you may get a different overseas version then the kind you see online. (the spine might say something different, etc.)

Someone at another forum rudely told me that the Ayumi Hamasaki [red] overseas VCD I bought at YesAsia was bootleg [and that I was ruining Ayu's career], but they were wrong and stupid. All the overseas Ayu stuff I've bought at YesAsia are genuine Avex products, so feel free to buy overseas versions there.

Thanks for the help everyone. :) I didn't think they'd sell bootlegs, but the paranoid person in me just had to make sure. :P

Overseas version are not bootlegs. Not to mention booklegs almost NEVER have the same tracklist as the original.

And most of Yesasia's OS ver are from Taiwan or Hong Kong. Only Avex Taiwan has crappier OBIs :rolleyes

Aldonia 17th June 2004 03:44 PM

So (this might be dumb of me, but I've NEVER bought an overseas version..) it's the exact same thing, except it was originally sold in another part of Asia other than Japan? o.o;

It's pretty much exactly the same thing besides having a different OBI, and it says manufactured in blah blah and prohibited for Sale in Japan.

Once in an odd while, the OS Ver might have poorer printing compared to its Japan ver counterpart (eg. Free & Easy single) but most of the time, it's pretty much exactly the same. Besides the fact it's usually released later than the Jpnver.

And also, OS Ver doesn't count towards the Oricon charts.

I've noticed too that the disk holders (the center part of the CD case) from the Avex OS CDs are also of poorer quality. Once my CD cases fell off of my shelf after a house near mine exploded and caused my house to shake (long story) :P All my JPN version CDs were fine while the center spindles that hold the CDs in the OS versions were all broken. Therefore, I had to replace the disk holders in my Memorial address OS CD and DVD, my Ayumix 4+selection AO CD, and another OS CD that I can't quite remember. :(

Oh, some older OS Ver doesn't have the 'Avex trax' logo on the inner CD Case I think.......

My 'Duty' OS Ver disc falls out if I open it and tilt it horizontally :rolleyes

jerms 19th June 2004 04:58 AM

the JPN versions that are from avex have their own "avex trax" logo on the plastic cd case. and what an overseas version IS just cds sold outside of japan, hence the name, Over Seas. ha gag a. well i dont think u should be too scared to buy'm.

However, as a side note, some OS Ver also has the Avex Trax logo inside the case. But that's not important, it's safe to buy, that's all you need to know.

Really? Didn't know. My Japan versions do have special Avex cases but all my other Avex overseas records have 'regular' jewelcases.

~K+ 19th June 2004 12:24 PM

Yea, for eg. My OS Ver of
Do As Infinity- GATES OF HEAVEN
Namie Amuro- STYLE
Do As Infinity- NEW WORLD

All have the avex logo inside. It must be a recent thing and my 'NEW WORLD' must've been a reprint or something perhaps...

sxesven 19th June 2004 01:07 PM

Aha. Explains. I don't have any of those.

fantaisie.sign 20th June 2004 01:38 AM

My Memorial address OS CD had the Avex logo on the disk holders until I had to replace them with unbroken holders.
