avcd?

i was looking at some chinese cd's on yesasia that i was intereseted in getting and alot of them said that the cd type was avcd. so i was wondering, do they play on regular cd players and stuff? i noticed that they have enhanced special stuff on them so wouldn't an avcd be like an enhanced cd? just wondering because i don't want to spend my money on it if i need a special player for it.

this is just the catalogue number for avex. every avex japan version cd is AVCD-then a number (i think 5 digits), so its like an id for each cd. i think what yesasia means is that these are japan version because the japan ver catalogue numbers are all AVCD-##### while the overseas ones are usually AVTCD-#####. you dont need a special player or nething, you're thinking of SACD (super audio cd) and stuff. i hope this answered ur question :)

^ No, that's not what she's talking about.

AVCD is a combination of VCD and regular CD's content blended into one disc. Don't worry, it will play on a regular CD player. However when playing in a CD player, you need to skip the first Computer Data track and whatever video clip follows and start from the first music track, otherwise depending on how your CD player is, it may
a) Make a buzz noise
b) Be silent

AVCD includes video content in the first track or 2, usually they're Music Video Clips, if you pop it in a VCD/DVD/CD-rom it'll ignore the Computer Data track and play the Video straight away, and after the video is done it'll play the Audio tracks.

Just remember when you pop it in a CD player, start with the Audio track instead of pressing play straightaway.

Ohhh... Sounds interesting, I think one of the Vicki's albums I bought was like that. Thanks a bunch for the clarification, ~K+! :D

Usually these discs will have "COMPACT DISC +" written on it. I think.

EDIT: Whoops, remembered, those are CD-extra. Pardon me. ^^;;

None of mine did I don't think, they have the "Compact Disc- Digital Audio" logo, and sometimes the "VideoCD" logo along with it, not that it really matters much. :P
