kournikova 7th May 2005 09:43 AM

hmmm...
1. RAINBOW n Sotsugoyou Shashin -> new song
2. M n appears -> HAL's Progress *remix*
3. SEASONS n TO BE (?) -> 2003 rebirth mix
4. A Song for XX -> re-record
5. Key, voyage, dolls, Hanabi, dearest -> original
6. YOU -> northern breeze -> remix
7. Who... -> across the universe -> remix
most of them are remix ^^

hmmm.... I thought they were all new versions. I dont have any solid information to back that up, but, its not so much a re-recording, as the accomp. tracks got way improved. The songs are much prettier than their originals. More "ballady" I guess.

I totally agree, however I am sure that the vocals for "Who..." and "YOU" were re-recorded too...

Not all the songs on A Best were re-recorded, just the ones from A Song for XX got new vocals.

~K+ 7th May 2005 02:30 PM

^ Those and "End roll". (Not listed)

sxesven 7th May 2005 03:42 PM

Oh yeah, forgot that one. And two songs got a slightly altered mix, Boys & Girls and SEASONS - no new vocals though.

Delirium-Zer0 7th May 2005 05:20 PM

I'm still trying to figure of vogue, Far away, and SEASONS all got slightly new mixes since Atsushi Hattori is the mixer for those three songs on Duty and on their singles, but there's no credit to Hattori in the A BEST booklet. But since I don't own the album, I can't tell. =\

Creamy Ayumi 7th May 2005 08:14 PM

For A best:
New vocals & mix:
A song for XX
Trust
Depend on you

Creamy Ayumi 7th May 2005 08:18 PM

And for A ballads it's not specified she had re-record her songs!
It's just new mix!

~ayu-cake~ 7th May 2005 08:51 PM

wow... i thought they were all re-recorded..lol.

Delirium-Zer0 8th May 2005 01:34 AM

Creamy Ayumi - End roll has new vocal & mix also, and Boys & Girls has a new mix, but it doesn't say so in the booklet. So there might be SLIGHT new mixing on some of the other songs that isn't as audible as those, since there's no mention of Atsushi Hattori in the credits in the back of the booklet.

sxesven 8th May 2005 02:32 AM

The alteration in SEASONS is also very audible, the sound of the snare is entirely different (and it sounds not as good as the original, imo). Boys & Girls' is also very audible, like you said - as for the others, I'm not sure, haven't noticed anything (although I must add that I don't really listen to A Best very often; that is, pretty much never).

Delirium-Zer0 8th May 2005 02:58 AM

Do you have an mp3 of the A BEST version of seasons so I can hear the difference? (Jeez, I didn't realize that SEASONS was like TO BE with the different mixes that aren't THAT far off from each other.)

sxesven 8th May 2005 03:10 AM

SEASONS (Duty version)
SEASONS (A Best version)

There you go! :) I ripped both these files myself using the same program and same settings, to make things clear (thus, sound difference is not caused by bad ripping). The different snare sound is very noticeable, and there's also a slight difference in the overall mixing; the Duty version sounds a bit brighter, yet also a bit flatter in comparison. It's my preferred version though.

yeah Ayu's voice sounds sooo different in YOU than the one in her first album

Shiso 8th May 2005 10:50 AM

as I said... "Who..." on A BALLADS was also re-recorded!

[taskin.ayu] 8th May 2005 01:41 PM

Was "A Best" re-recorded as well? I never knew. o_O I don't even know if I have the re-recorded version at all. xD It sounds the same to me.

Creamy Ayumi 8th May 2005 07:58 PM

But why it's not specify???
For new vocals or mix it's specify in A best!
Why they don't have the same thing in A ballads??
And in mix it's possible they have arranged ayu voice himself without Ayu.
