My suggestions:
Endless sorrow because the single mix is much better than the album version (IMO).
& for "theme of a-nation '03".
vogue for "ever free".
Depend on you for "Two of us".

All you have to do is click to yesasia using the AHS links.

"&" You get 4 different songs
"Step You/Is This Love" Ayu's latest single and for the song "Is This Love"
"Moments" This song is soo Beautiful

I only reccomended 3 cause you already decided on 2 singles.

PickleCookies 21st June 2005 03:36 AM

Personally, I wouldn't get a single. You have $50, so I would get an album or DVD, since they're more worth the buy. But, if you want a single, follow skal's advice.

I agree, unless maybe you're really into remixes. If you like dance/club stuff I think 'kanariya' is a good single for that type of music, although I personally disliked the single as a whole.

PickleCookies 21st June 2005 04:02 AM

Having a good remix on a single is very rare. So you might as well buy Ayu Trance if you want remixes.

stardusties 21st June 2005 04:05 AM

Thanks guys! the vogue and & singles are sounding good right now. Maybe I should get an album as well ehy? I've had my eye on I Am...for quite a while! I wish the SURREAL single was still in stock :( -cry-

also
What's the difference in the Hong Kong and Overseas version print-wise?

PickleCookies 21st June 2005 04:10 AM

Hong Kong is the Overseas Version, if I remember correctly.
If I were you, I'd either get I am... or Duty for an album.

Deep snow 21st June 2005 04:20 AM

vogue is good, i heard it has nice remixes in there, plus a c/w track [which was very rarely of hamasaki to include a c/w track at those times] ever free, it's the only song from hamasaki that i haven't heard, so if i were you, i would buy vogue [as for i've bought Endless sorrow last year and i love it]

my recommendations:

Daybreak [the H/\L's Mix 2002 is really great]
Fly high [also for the H/\L's Mix 2000]
kanariya [for the JP's Vocal Club Mix a.k.a the PV version]
appears [for lots of remixes & the instrumental version of immature, love that song]

the problem is, those singles are no-longer available because it's limited, only 300k copies were released and heaven knows where else would you find it, i guess not in yesasia

my REAL recommendations:

STEP you / is this LOVE? [really good, two new songs with three PVs -a must-have]
fairyland c/w alterna [i think it'll be great, just pre-order it when it's available]

MsMiyabi 21st June 2005 06:28 AM

If your think about getting a the 3 albums. I suggest

Memorial Address
I Am...
LOVEppears or Duty

I was going to suggest exactly these. They all have either b-sides (&, vogue, Depend on you) that are worth buying the single for, or a title track in a version that's better than the version that appeared on the album (Endless sorrow). I'd say go for these.

elepop 21st June 2005 03:21 PM

I'm not sure singles are worth it. But if you really want singles, i suggest you her older materials. Unlike Moments, No Way To Say, CAROLS, INSPIRE and all those ones, they actually have more than just 4 simple songs.

I like Dearest, that song is really nice, the single cd is hard to come by though now. I also won this on an auction too :D. There's another on ebay auction going for like £25 :eyebrow

Daybreak and kanariya are still in stock :O wow!

Hmm I really like kanariya....Do you guys think I should get Ayumi's older things now, and then buy upwards on her releases as soon as I'm able to buy more?

Syphex 21st June 2005 07:35 PM

It really depends on what genre of music you like-Ayu likes to alternate between pop, rock, trance (connected) But if this is one of your first purchases of ayu songs, get an album. I Am.. LOVEppears and Duty are good choices.

Kanariya single, IMO, isn't really worth it. The only good mix on there is the JP Vocalclub mix. The rest is just "bleh" and they dont stand out enough for you to remember them. In fact, this goes for most singles--the ones with mixes are usually not that great, and the newer ones have just 2 tracks and 2 instrumentals...not worth the price. I always viewed singles as more of a "collectors item" then an actual source to enjo ayumi's songs.

So, grab an "official" album, a cyber-trance presents ayumi hamasaki album, or a eurobeat album. They are definately worth your money.

NOTE: The inspire single only has GAME and INSPIRE, and the instrumentals. Unless you really, really want those instrumentals, get My Story album because it has those 2 songs and 15 more enjoyable ayu-tracks!

The NWTS single is a good choice if you like that song, because that song is not on any albums..i'm pretty sure. But reconsider getting the inspire single.

No Way To Say is on Memorial Address.

jerms 21st June 2005 09:26 PM

the best single is probably Daybreak. it's got an awesome version of the song and every mix is awesome. it's totally worth the 10 bucks and its a single that u can listen to straight through without skipping anything. i especially like the turn up the break mix of no more words.

Ah, thank you. Well then, the NWTS has the original, instrumental, vandalize-remix and AO Voyage, Seasons, NWTS + Dearest. The only thing "exclusive" to this single is the instrumental and the vandalize realize mix (which isn't that great IMO, there are waayyy better mixes.) unless the AO is exlcusive to this album only also. Which I dont think it is, because there is already a full AO album, heh.

Hope this helps. $50? enough to buy some good ayu stuff.
