Same song titles between: Ayu, Namie, BoA, Koda & hitomi

I was just browsing Ayu, Namie, BoA, Koda and hitomi's website and I notice how they had some same song title between them.

SAME TITLES:

poker face - Ayumi Hamasaki & hitomi
winding road - Ayumi Hamasaki & BoA
flower - Koda Kumi & BoA
SPEED STAR - Namie Amuro & hitomi
LOVE 2000 - Namie Amuro & hitomi
Present - Ayumi Hamasaki & Namie Amuro
I am - Ayumi Hamasaki - hitomi
Kiseki - Koda Kumi & BoA

ALMOST SAME TITLES:

Let's do the motion (Namie) - Do the motion (BoA)
no more words (Ayu) - no more tears (Namie)
Kimi no tonari de (BoA) - Kimi no tonari (hitomi)
Moments (Ayu) - moment (hitomi)

I thought I'd share, LOL! :P

Avex really likes to recycle song titles and PV concepts. "Kiseki" and "flower" are very common song titles. Here are some other examples:

- Hikaru Utada and Hitomi Shimatani share a song title, ASAP.
- Koda Kumi and Namie Amuro both have songs called "butterfly"
- Ayu and Ami Suzuki have songs called "About You".
- Ayu has a song called "ANGEL'S SONG" when The Brilliant Green has a song called almost like that as well.
- Nami Tamaki has songs called "Daybreak" and "You", just like Ayu
- There's also young singer Nami Uehara who just released a single called "Real me", like Ayu
- Namie Amuro has a song called "Please Smile Again", similar to ELT's "Smile Again"

These are just a few of a huge number of examples :P

Do artists name their own songs, or do they have record companies do it for 'em? :confused

^ I'm pretty sure Ayumi has final say on her song titles since she writes all her lyrics. However, I'm guessing that she has some help in the English department (someone probably pitches title ideas once in a while).

As for the others, I'm not sure if they write their own songs. If not, the original writer picks the song title probably. Most of those titles up there are common words and phrases, though, so it's not surprising.

Annabelle 9th August 2005 02:17 AM

Record compagnies usually name the songs that's why there's so many similar titles. In some cases, the writer of the song can choose the title himself with little help of the record company. They want to make sure the title is "marketable" :P

U can take Koda Kumi of the list with Flower that isn't her song. She's singing it to promote someone else

But Anyway

Fly High - Minmi & Ayumi Hamasaki
Orange Range & Mika Nakashima - Music & Musiq album titles
[M]Maria - hitomi & Ayumi Hamasaki
Step & Step You - Minmi & Ayumi Hamasaki
Believe - Luna Sea & Koda Kumi & Exile
Honey - L`Arc~En~Ciel & Ayumi Hamasaki
Sunshine - Ai & KM-Markit & Minmi & Lee Soo Young
Wish - Luna Sea & hitomi
Under The Sun - DAI & hitomi
Over - High and Mighty Color & Ayumi Hamasaki & BoA & Exile
Life - Koda Kumi & Xbs
Heroine - Nama Tamaki & BoA
Kimochi - ELT & BoA
Tears - Mika Nakashima & Crystal Kay
One - Koda Kumi & Xbs & Elt
Feel Me - Koda Kumi & BoA
I Will - Hitomi Shimatani & Namie Amuro

that's all I can think of from the top of my head. But notice not all the artist I listed are on Avex

that could make sense since KEIKO is like... ayus idol. Not saying thats the reason, but seems like GLOBE and Ayumi do share similar song titles.

Nami Tamaki is with Sony, not avex.. so not all artists are from there, like Akurei said. I don't think Laruku's with avex, though i'm not sure about that one :think

:laugh

Delirium-Zer0 9th August 2005 07:03 AM

hitomi has "hateshinai kanashimi" ("Neverending Sadness") and ayu has "Endless sorrow" :P

The "SPEED STAR" one is really the only one that bugs me. I mean... that's not a common song title like "One" or "Honey"... :yrolleyes

Oh, and I can't forget these Ayu/B'z song titles...

AYU -- B'Z
FRIEND -- Friends
FRIEND II -- Friends II
SEASONS -- Seasons
POWDER SNOW -- SNOW (these songs have similar lyrics too)
Liar -- Liar! Liar!
SIGNAL -- SIGNAL (the only time in which the ayu song came first :P)
still alone -- ALONE

(Alot of people rip off B'z song titles & lyrics though :P)

There are probably an endless number songs called either "flower" or "hana" or with any of those words in it. Also the title "mermaid" is used a lot it seems, f. ex.
Ai Kawashima
Shimatani Hitomi
Jyuri Shono
Aya Ueto

Quick search on yesasia or cdjapan....
